I can't find my syntax error. Here is my code behind:
[Code]....
I have written some vb code that inserts whatever has been written on my page into an Access database. Only problem is VWD throws up an error saying that the syntax of my SQL statement is wrong. I am 95% sure that this statement is correct because when I saw the statement in Text Visualizer and tried that statement in MYSQL the data went in perfectly.
I have pasted the code below:
strSQL = "INSERT INTO User (UserID, FirstName, LastName, Password) VALUES "
i am new to asp.net programming i am trying to insert data into access db from asp.net web form but it is showing error as
Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.
my code is :
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
myCommand.CommandText = "update Stutable set password as '" & TextBox2.Text & "' where rollno = '" & TextBox3.Text & "'"
View 21 Repliescmd.CommandText = "insert into bkdb (BKDATE,CONSIGNER,CONSIGNEE,FROM,TO,ARTICAL,DESCRIPTION,SAID,PMARK,WEIGHT,RATE,PAY,SC,BC,ST,DV,HC,TOTAL) values ('" + date + "','" + consinor + "','" + consinee + "','" + source + "','" + destination + "'," + artical + ",'" + des + "','" + said + "','" + pmark + "'," + weight + "," + rate + "," + pay + "," + sc + "," + bc + "," + st + "," + dv + "," + hc + "," + total + ")";
View 7 Repliesi built an oledb update stmt using the syntax from a 4 guys tutorial, http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/071002-1.3.aspx , but am getting the above error
this is the update stmt
Dim strSQL As String = "UPDATE [orientationData] SET " & _
"[orientationTime] = @orientationTime, [targetAttendeeCount] = @targetAttendeeCount, " & _
"[locationRoom] = @locationRoom, [locationStreet] = @locationStreet, " & _
"WHERE [orientationDate] = @orientationDate"
sample how i build an update field into the update string
Dim targetAttendeeCount As Integer = _
CType(e.Item.Cells(0).FindControl("targetAttendeeCountTextBox"), TextBox).Text
Dim parmTarAttCnt As OleDbParameter = _
New OleDbParameter("@targetAttendeeCount", OleDbType.Integer)
parmTarAttCnt.Value = targetAttendeeCount
myCommand.Parameters.Add(parmTarAttCnt)
printing out the strSQL gives
sql string = UPDATE [orientationData] SET [orientationTime] = @orientationTime, [targetAttendeeCount] = @targetAttendeeCount, [locationRoom] = @locationRoom, [locationStreet] = @locationStreet, WHERE [orientationDate] = @orientationDate
so none of the variables are being resolved, i know they are being returned from, in this case a datagrid, because i have printed them separately, so am not sure at this point how to get the vars to resolve, i was hoping to not have to use all the quotes + apostrohes and thought the @syntax was simplifying that but not so. is there some way to code this with the @'s?
I have a MS Access table with the "ModelID" column set as AutoNumber and primary key. The ModelID is set as Field Size --> Long Integer, New Values --> Increment, Format --> General Number, Indexed --> Yes (No Duplicates).
Here is the code i am trying to execute, and is giving me an exception -> insert into syntax error:
[Code]....
I have no idea why this is happening? I do not usually use MS Access, i usually use MS SQL Server however this website has an older database. I had to create the tbl_Models as it is a new table and i am thinking i maybe setup the table wrong as i have similar insert into statements that work on other tables....
im working on a school project, i made a forum but i cant post a new thread.
i got the this error: Syntax error in INSERT INTO statement.
Source Error:

this is a part of the code:

What is the correct code syntax to insert Row of Data.
How do we remove the syntax errors (i.e., '>' expected, and 'declaration expected')?
What is the correct code?
Read example, below:

I created a database with all text fields. I am using asp to enter the data into access INSERT INTO Form (fname, lname, sID, fl, email, job, employer, Position, grade, degreename, degreetime, degreePlace ) VALUES ('chris','v','12323','cv','cv@cv.com','Yes','Uc','Developer','Yes','test','2010','Uc') Above is the sql I am trying to insert [ Response.write(sSql)] But it is failing and I am not able to insert the data in the table. I have a project that I was using Access for but now find I have to change to SQL Express. Well I have no big problem with that but I now find that the SQL Statement I have been using was for OLE and does not work in SQL/Express. I am not even sure anymore if I can dump the entire CSV file in at one time? The statement I was using is below.
[Code]....
Here is my problem. What is the INSERT statement to insert a complete flat (CSV) into SQL Express? OR what method can I use to preform this task?
I get the following error on the e.Command.Parameters("@latestRowId").Value line. It was working, but now not and I'm not sure why? Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'Integer' is not valid.

how to fix my sql syntax so my code works again, i made a few manual entrys for now to see if I can get them to be displayed: The FriendUserID relates to another UserID in the usertable who has obviously a different picture and information but I dont know how to display to concurrent WallPosting's from different users atm.
my code creates a dynamic div gives the div an ID = to the userid and input the wallpost messgaes named wallpostings, it takes the information stored about the userid and applys the image related to that userid, is there any way this can be changed with sql? or have i went down a one way alley?
public partial class UserProfileWall : System.Web.UI.Page
{
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
if (Page.IsPostBack)
{
//It is a postback so check if it was by div click (NOT WORKING because the javascript isnt posting back)
string target = Request["__EVENTTARGET"];
if (target == "DivClicked")
{
string id = Request["__EVENTARGUMENT"];
//Call my delete function passing record id
using (OdbcConnection cn = new OdbcConnection("Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}; Server=localhost; Database=gymwebsite2; User=root; Password=commando;"))
{
cn.Open();
using (OdbcCommand cmd = new OdbcCommand("DELETE FROM WallPosting WHERE idWallPosting="+id, cn))
{
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery();

I'm writing an update statement to update a user's password in the linked Access Database when they input (and confirm the input) of the new password in a textbox on my webpage.
The SQL statement that is being generated is - UPDATE tblUser SET [Password]=[chuck68] WHERE UserID=0000009
With tblUser being the correct name for the table, Password being the correct name for the field I wish to change and UserID being the linked field to lookup the password from.
The entirety of my code is as follows: (with the necessary import statement at the top of the class).
Protected Sub ChangePasswordButton_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ChangePasswordButton.Click

View 3 RepliesI am trying to do an insert statement to a table from classic ASP.I tried the below:
[Code]....
But, I am getting the error as: Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'where'.How to insert data, using a where clause in the above scenario?
How would you handle an INSERT that gets some values from another table using SELECT, where you wanted some values to come from the source table record and other values to come from a different parameter source like a session value? Is this possible?
View 3 Repliesi'm developing windows application one of its forms supposed to fill a table called rooms with data throughout a collection of text boxes and comboboxes controls, i'm successfuly bound each control to the binding source and make sure that each data adapter contains the required data but when i start to excute the insert statement

I dragged and dropped a sqldatasource and want to do an insert statement, taking the new values from a textbox. I did this already however when i do my insert statement eg. INSERT INTO Development_Programme(MHID) VALUES (@m) HOWEVER when to select the insert parameters the 'Next' button and the 'Finish' button is shaded off, I added a Select statement and the 'Next' was unshaded HOWEVER the screen to select the insert parameters is not appearing it goes straight to the Test Query.
View 3 RepliesI've got 3 tables.
Table A: UID, Name
Table B: CID, Category
Table C: ID, UID, CID
I've got a TextBox to capture the value of "Name" in Table A.
Ive got a CheckBoxList that displays all the pre-determined values of Table B.
When the user selects an item from the CheckBoxList i want to populate Table C with the value of the selected item from the CheckBoxList and the cooresponding ID associated with the user name for that person's entry.
How do I write the INSERT statement?
There is this error troubling me whenever i tried to do something to the ShopCart such as add to cart.
The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint "FK_ShopCart_Shopper". The conflict occurred in database "DIYERA", table "dbo.Shopper", column 'ShopperID'. The statement has been terminated.
I checked the database and the foreign key, ShopperID, was set correctly.
I have a problem with my SqlDataSource, when the web form i loaded it works OK but when I execute an insert statement and then i execute the method DataBind(), the data in my grid view is not changed.
View 1 RepliesI was wondering if there is any way to view an sql statement that is created by a templateField Gridview when updating? I had my Gridview working properly then I changed my update statement to update less fields and I changed a couple more things on the page and now I don't know what broke it. The error I'm getting is
"System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Syntax error in UPDATE statement."
When I searched for this error it said to debug it but all that happens when I do that is visual studio tells me there were errors because it couldn't find my header, which it does find when it runs regularly so this isn't the problem.
i have a form view that takes fields from two tables 'Contract' and 'volunteers', however because i used a query builder,i have to input an insert statement. How do i create an insert statement for two tables in one query?
