I need to loop through a GridView and get the values of a databound field. Then use those values in my update statement.
Here is the GridView:

And here is my UPDATE statement, which is actually just passing the values to a stored procedure:

Right now, I just have it grabbing the text from a label control, but I know that will not work as it only passes one value. I need to be able to update multiple rows based on the del_doc_num.

I would like to ask a question on the visual basic codes to loop the gridview to retrieve the values and based on the values, it will be provided as parameters to update to the database table using stored procedure.
Firstly, I have a gridview named grvProduct. The page (ui) will be loaded with data from the database with the use of stored procedures. And only certain values can be edited through the use of template in gridview. So based on those edited values, I'm supposed to pass these values as parameters to the stored procedure which will then update a database table.
Let say, I have 3 records retrieved from the database and displayed in the gridview. And I would like to edit a values in the 3 records, how do I do batch update and pass those parameters to the stored procedure? I went to debug and step through the visual basic codes and realised there were too many arguments specified because I actually loop the gridview.

I believe it is the error in the looping of the gridview which results that I could not batch update the data/values.

I'm quite new to asp.net. I use MS Visual Studio 2008 and MySQL database. When I try to edit a record via gridview and the generated UPDATE syntax I get an error.I inserted a gridview into my asp.net web application and connected it to my database (all is OK). Then I checked for auto generation of update and other syntax:

When I test in a browser I get a pop window form for editing a record. But when I click "update" I get the following error:"You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '?, strSkrajsanNaziv = ?, strKraj = ?, strDavcnaSt = ?, SkupinaID = ? WHERE Stran' at line 1"what's wrong with the UPDATE syntax? Is this syntax only valid when using MSSQL?

In my application I have panel which has 5 textboxes. I've written several functions for checking each of textbox if the entered value is ok (number, is this number in database, etc.). If error occurrs textbox which caused it has different color of background.
However I wanted to write (add) function which will check if one of the textboxes has the same value as other. The problem is that function is checking blank textboxes, although it shouldn't - I wrote if statement which allows checking only non-blank textboxes but it doesn't work.

I have a simple table. (with PK). I have created a tableadapter that selects all fields and filters with a control parameter. This works fine. The results are displayed within a DetailView control. All okay up to this point. I have then enabled 'Editing'.I can then click on the edit and change the text, but when I click the edit button the page updates but the value has not changed in the database?

Now, I need something like this:

The problem:
The LblInfoEditar is outside the datalist so it works fine. (note: in this label I put a value like the 8)
But I have this label to test because I need to access a label inside datalist:

The problem is: in this line I've to put something to access this LblNumEntrevista HOW?

i need to know if this can be done :
i have a grid form with 3 fields field1 & field2 & field3.
in the insert statement the field 3 gets a javascript function result that uses filed1 & 2 values.
Now what i want in the grid view update statement is : to call the @field 1 & @field2 from the update statement to a similar javascript function..(do soem calculation ) and then re-assign the java function result to the @field3 variable in the update statement..

I have a table named [vacation time] with the colums startdate and enddate the table is conected with the [permits table]with the colums permname and permdays(int). i have to create a warning message for the user if the ((startdate)-(enddate)>permday) to avoid the update statement in my grid view.

I have a Bulk Gridview(all rows are editable) I need to loop through.I need to get the text that's displayed in each of the textboxes in the gridview, my current code is this:

like this, I need to loop through the gridview, but instead of just getting the text in each column, I need to get the text from the textboxes. How can I do that?If i'm going to use findcontrol() then I need the ID of each control. the gridview is always created dynamically, which means I don't know the number of controls that's being created beforehand. So, how/where can I find the ID?Is there another way to extract data from the textbox, other than findcontrol()?

How do I loop the gridview to read or insert one row by one row?I have a database which has a Primary key. Currently,all the rows seems to appear at one time.Even when I use a counter,it did read one row from a textbox(which is for my testing to read one row) but in the database,it still inserts the whole rows from the gridview.I can't click button twice as it will occur an error "Primary Constraint".

I have a two gridviews that I populate it through some tables from a database.
In the same page I have a ASP:Button with onclick event.
When click is perform I wish to write a code that compares the old values of both gridviews (that retrieved from database), with the new values, and if changes were made then create the changes in the database.
I think that the best way is to loop every gridview sepertly, and compares it with the values in the database
How do I do that? Do you have a sample code that loops on gridview and compares with the old values to detect changes?

I have a GridView, the first column it's a RadioButton template and the second it's a DropDownList Template, the number of rows depends on the user, I mean they are not static. I'm using the following JS function to get the row selected with the radiobuttons:

With this function I know which RadioButton was selected, now, I would like to get the DropDownList value or text of the selected row, I know I have to loop through every DropDownList to get an array of controls, but since they are something like ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder1_GVProducts_ctl02_DValsDropDown, I just don't know how to achive this through JS.

I have a gridview in which I add extra rows manually (besides the regular bound rows).The manually added rows do not have a textbox, they are just text.The normal rows hold a textbox "minprice".Now when the user clicks the NewGarage button I want to loop through the gridview and get the values in each row for the minprice textbox.

My sql statement is not functioning correctly. The gridview does post the items correctly but the results are not correct. Can someone assist me with the sql statement where I'm going wrong with it?
I only have one being reffer to the code because I was testing to see it work. Eventually, the search will be base on multi select and the selected items are going to the stored procedure to search for the proper records.

I have walked through other posts with a similar problem but I am very stuck.I am normally use Php/MySQL and am new to ASP (actually only this new client uses it and I'm trying to help them). I am trying to filter a table to only show the last 90 days of records. I found what I thought was the easy solution shown below:
FilterExpression="columnname < GETDATE() - 90"
Or, if you can modify your SQL SELECT statement
SELECT col1, col2, col3 FROM tablename WHERE col3 < GETDATE() -90
However when I added it I get this error:Description: An error occurred during the parsing of a resource required to service this request. Please review the following specific parse error details and modify your source file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.BoundField' does not have a public property named 'FilterExpression'.I think I have added the code to the wrong place or have another file to edit but I have no clue honestly. I have a conditional Eval statement in a Gridview that returns a boolean result to display an image if two datafields(strings) are identical:
Visible='<%# Eval("customerA").Equals(Eval("customerB")) %>'
Works great except I don't want the image to display if both datafields are empty. How can I add that logic into this Eval stmt?

On Page1 of a project, I have a Gridview showing a table of customer names (showing CustID, CustName, CustJoinDate). When I click on a record, I have passed a querystring to Page2 showing an address table for that customer. This part works for me.
The SQL statement in simply: Select * from CustAddress where CustID = @cust
What I would like to do though, is capture that @cust to a session variable so that I can use it later on.

I have a gridview that I am manually binding in my code behind page because I have to pull out information from other sources for the WHERE clause.The issue is that I get an error on the aspx page that one of the columns is not in the dataview, however when I run the SQL statement in SQL all the columns are there and there is not a spelling error.If I remove the column from the gridview then the page loads.I cannot see why the column is a problem.Here is my ASPX gridview code.
