Jul 18, 2010i have the following problem. i'd like to use a listview with paging for mulitple selection of items in a list. The selection is no problem. I do have f.i. a list which holds the key values.

As soons as the user makes a selection or removes a selection the list will be updated accordingly. Also hold this list info when changing pages of the listview.

This list can be stored either in a session or a viewstate.
My question is how can i retrieve the information of the list back into my listview and thus displaying the selection the user has made when he jumps from page to page.

But the thing I want it, that every one of them has their own Value (abPermission.TabID, TabPermission.PermissionID, TabPermission.AllowAccess, TabPermission.UserID) (tabhome = 6,6,6,6) (tabsupp = 7,7,7,7)
If I select 'one' or 'multiple' they values will be inserted into the database

May 27, 2010I'm working on the admin tool and am using DetailsView to edit the records (.net 2.0). In the screenshot below, the left is the GridView, and the right is the DetailsView. When a user clicks "Select" in the GridView, I am trying to display the assigned Sectors stored in the database via a checkboxlist (activities can have multiple sectors). This way, the Admin user could just uncheck/check what sectors they want to change. Unfortunately, I can only get the first sector that's stored database to show up.
Is it possible for the Checkboxlist control to allow for more than one box to be checked at the same time? If so, do I need to create a custom funcion (via looping) in order to populate the checkboxlist accordingly? I've ran into 3 articles so far that imply that, but can't get the For Each to work for my situation:

Apr 6, 2012I have requiremet like in checkboxlist displaying all country names from database. The first item is 'All Countries' and country names will start from second item. So, when user click on All All Countries checkbox, all the remaing items should be uncheck and when user click on of the country checkbox then 'All Countries' should be uncheck like that. I googled sometime but got the articles which are explaning with a separate checkbox for check/uncheck items in checkboxlist. I don't want a separate checkbox......the All Countries checkbox should be first item of the checkboxlist.

May 7, 2015I have a little problem, may be is easy thing , but I don't find way to do, don't understand this it,in one file called search.aspx, I have a two dropdownlist controls working in cascading, one bind the another, the selection of second dropdownlist fill a checkboxlist, user can check or uncheck options, based on what they are looking.the result of the checkboxes selected, bind a DataList,Users can view the results in Datalist, and select it, like this.when user click in item in datalist is send to another file called viewdetails.aspx, and can see details of item.
the problem is when user come back to search.aspx. all controls are reset and user selections disappears, my datalist don't have items is clean, what can i do for keep values ?.

1. Branch name --> uses checkbox
2. Sub Branch Name --> uses Checkboxlist
both column data are fetched from database the table luks like this
1. (checkbox) Branchname1 (checkboxlist) ALL Subbranchnames
2.(checkbox) Branchname2 (checkboxlist) ALL Subbranchnames
etc....
if i select checkbox of branch 1 all my subbranches checkbox list should be selected and viceversa
same for branch2
I am using a javascript code which in which if i select a branch name everything in my page is selected including branch2 n its corresponding subbranch..

Feb 18, 2010I've a list box which may contain 300000 or more records. I've another listbox . The user basically selects from the first listbox and adds to second lbx. There is button which when clicked will move the selected records from first listbox to second listbox.
Now if I select around 45000 records and try to move to second listbox .. it moves fine . If I select more than 45000 or so...it takes very long and eventually i get the "Action Cancelled". When I put a break point in page_init ..it does not hit. Is there a way I can restrict the user by selecting more than 40000 items. ie they should not be able to highlight more than 45000 records.

I know how to get the chosen items, but i'm not sure how to get them in the order that they were chosen. This is my code to get the selected items.

So if I choose Item 3, Item 2, and then Item 1, when I display them on a label, the order is always Item 1, Items 2, Item 3. How can i preserve the order of the chosen items?

As you can see, it is populated by a method. This method checks whether the item is checked or not (when updating the data shown in the detailsview)

Now when I click the update button, the button that triggers the itemupdating event, I delete all links in the database connected to that record, loop through all my checkboxlists and insert the ones that are checked:

The problem however is in this line:

For some reason the items are counted double and I cannot find the reason for that. Dividing it by two does solve it but it would be nicer to understand why it does that.(And if there would be a better way to loop through all the controls to find all checkboxes.
