Forms Data Controls :: Selecting Specific Data And Adding Links?

I'm trying to access and display certain data in my database using category ID's. I've added values to the links in a link list and I was to have the selected value as the one that determines the selection in the selection statement. For example, "SELECT [ID_key] AS ID_Key, [Title], [Source], [PublicationDate], [Url], [CatID] FROM [Newsarts] WHERE ([CatID] = Linklist1.SelectedValue)". I know Linklist1.SelectedValue doesn't work or it may work and I don't know how but I want to be able to use the value selected from the previous link. Is there a way?
Also, after all the data is displayed, I would like them to become links themselves. Basically, I want to choose a category, then choose an article in that category, and they hit the link to display the article's content.

I have a grid view (using sqldatasource & C#) which returns no rows. By design asp.net does not show header/footer. I looked at couple of sites and suggestions and found it to be too complex. Nothing was simple. The one I found was to create a empty datatable, insert rows and bind it to the gridview. But that code does notwork for me because I am using sqldatasource and using datatable gives error.I decided to just add the following to empty item template.

THe link shows up in the bottom but the event gridview_RowCommand is not fired as the grid view is not created or it does not have rows
How do I call a function on click the add new link and put all my code in there to insert possibly using a modal popup. I cannot use onclientclick because it is javascript.

i have design a web application having suppliers table using SqlDatasource..
i have a master page in my design and other form are bound to a context menu..
Now i have displayed the records in the gridview..all i wanted is after i select a record in the gridview it will display the selected record in detailview from another aspx form..
i was able to create the link to another aspx form but the data that it display is the first data from the gridview not the data that i select.

i hav a gridview ... now i need to add certain number of rows... say 5 rows .... which would b blank .. the rows consist of itemtemplate of textboxes.. here is the grid ...

now i am binding this gridview with certain data say :

now the problem is if the row contains 2 data originally ... then it alwz shows up with only two rows with binded data... but what i want is 2 (databinded rows ) + 5 (empty rows with textbox ) = 7 grid view rows .... now how to do it ... after i hav binded the textbox with data already....with some empty columns corresponding to the above code ?

Im having a hard time making ends meet with cenerio.
I have a daily task database that stores the
date, project number, start time, end time and total time
One date could have multiple entries.
I'm trying to link my data to a calender so when I pick a date all the daily tasks are pulled into a gridview.
Also I want the calendar to pull up a blank form where I can input all that info in if the date has no entries.

I am using a ddl to view orders by year. I populate the ddl using code that begins with the customer account created year and cycling until current year.

I also use the sql Paramater as Control Parameter using the ddl

I have some records I made up in the table, but made them all 2010 order.
Now no matter what I choose on the ddl - it updates the update panel, but stays on 2009 (CustomerSinceYear) and will not change to 2010, I can't figure out why it is doing this. I don't know if it is because I set the parameter as a string instead of int, but in code it only specifies add(string, string) for text, value.

I want to select more than one item of CheckBoxList and then search those item from database and then select them.
I wrote this code but it can only select one item at a time.

I have a page that successfully displays a gridview. I am not able to select any of the rows. I put a breakpoint in the GridView1_SelectedIndexChanged method but it never gets executed. When I click on the "selected" column in the row I want, I just get the The page cannot be displayed message in my browserIs there something I need to do to make the rows "selectable"

I need to disable the edit command link if a record has links to other records within the tables.
I have a table that has worktype and that is captured when certain records are entered. So if a record exists with that value, then i want to disable the "Edit" link for that record within my gridview.
I want to provide them access to add more worktypes, but if they want to edit a worktype, i need to make sure its not used anywhere in the other tables, before they can edit it. For now atleast, because i will need to allow full editing and deletion functions for this table. how to do this or maybe suggestions on other things i can do to give them full functionality?

I have enabled select on the GridView2 and need to get the values inside the cells. I thought about using SelectedDataKey but I need a way to select the row in the GridView using code.

i have a gridview that contains a couple of bits of information (email and and emailId) that i want to get and update to a database.
e.g. when i click a "select" button in my gridview i want to take the email and email id from that selected row and insert it into a database using a custom function. Having taught myself C# i'm still quite green to all the code.
The closest i came to doing it was below.

The intension is to get the all text file names in the drop down present in a particular location. When a user selects any filename from the drop down, it will show the data which is in that particular text file in a GridView.
I've done both the steps and it's almost complete but i stuck on a small issue. Probably because of non-usage of ASP.NET for a long period of time. The problem is, the drop down only selects the default value not other values.Here's my code for DropDown Selected Index Change

I am trying to use GridView in my asp.net page. My requirement is to select an entire row by clicking at any place(field) in the row. Is it possible to accomplish this without using Links or buttons for the fields..? I have searched the net but couldnt find any answer. Is it the GridView designed not to allow selection of a row..?

I have a gridview which I have databinded via the quick config facility, but I need to databind one column to a completely different sql table data field - how do I do this?
If I go into Gridview tasks and select the column and edit the data binding parameter but what is the format for a table outside the source definition for the the rest of the gridview?
