I want to access a dropdown control value of each list item as soon as it is created. I tried with ItemCreated and ItemDataBound events but I am getting null contro when I try to access control as shown below:
ListViewDataItem item = (ListViewDataItem)e.Item;
int LstIndex = item.DataItemIndex;
RadComboBox ddlCategory = (RadComboBox)(listView1.Items[LstIndex].FindControl("rdComboCategory"));
Also, I get listview.item.count zero. IS there any event where I will get listitem count and list items?

i have a dropdown list in edit mode and read only mode. If users upload pictures, i want them to chose a category for the uploaded pics and display it in a gridview as below.(See Picture below). When i include "SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CategoryID")" in edit and item template mode, i get this error "'PictureReadOnlyCategories' has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items. Parameter name: value "
When i removed the "SelectedValue='<%# Bind("CategoryID")" from edit and item template, i get the result on the pic below(screenshot). If u can see the pic below the category is not selected, it just display the -- No Category -- even when i chose a category for the pic. I want when a pic is uploaded and i category chosen, to display on the gridview. The code for the error message is below:

I've a dropdown list for departments (engineering, bio, chemistry,physics etc.) when somebody choose the departments from the dropdown list, it displays the opening closing time(hours) in a detailsview controls.
I have separate homepage for these departments ( these are the static html pages and no way to send querystring value) and I want to link the hours for each department from the departmental homepage.
When I choose the department from the DDL, everytime it's the same URL.
How can I solve the problem So that I can point the respective hours from the respective departments ?
I have a dropdown list in the edittemplate of a gridview and now it selects the first value that comes from the datasource. How can I get it to select it's original value? Where do I put the code?

I have a dropdown list within a details view that allows me to set 1 or many categories to a perticular record(in this case a photo). The select command in this case only displays those catetegories that are not already attached to the selected photo.
all works well and as you select a category and add it to the database the category is removed from the dropdown list and is added to a gridview which shows all categories that photo is stored with.
My Problem is that when i delete the category from the gridview the dropdown list does not delete with said deleted item unless i do a "click in URL bar and press enter" to totally refresh the page.....
how to refresh the dropdown list in the details view after the gridview item has been deleted?
[code]....
I am not able bind data to the dropdownlist from database. following is code.
DataTable dtModule = BO.GetBizModel_DDL(ServiceID);
if (dtModule != null)
{
ddlBizModl.Items.Clear();
ddlBizModl.DataSource = dtModule;
ddlBizModl.DataTextField = "BIZ_MODL_NM";
ddlBizModl.DataValueField = "BIZ_MODL_ID";
ddlBizModl.DataBind();
}
dtModule.Dispose();
I know how to bind a simple objects to a dropdown list. However I am having problems binding my objects which contains sub objects to the control.i.e. with simple object i just do ddl.DataValueField = "myproperty"
with my objects they contains sub objects which i want to bind. I have tried ddl.DataValueField = "sub-object.myproperty" which doesnt work.
I am stuck at this point "Displaying a dropdown list of Categories with a --None -- Option. I want the gridview control to display 2 dropdown list one in read-only mode and the other in edit mode. When a record is in read-only mode, the dropdownlist's enabled property will be set to false."When it's on a read-only mode, it doesn't display the selected Category. it shows but the "No Category". When i click on edit to edit or change category, it doesn't display the selected category.
The example is given below( I am reading the book Sams Teach yourself ASP.NET 2.0 by Scott Mitchell. page 628)

I am using a ddl to view orders by year. I populate the ddl using code that begins with the customer account created year and cycling until current year.
[Code]....
I also use the sql Paramater as Control Parameter using the ddl
[Code]....
I have some records I made up in the table, but made them all 2010 order.
Now no matter what I choose on the ddl - it updates the update panel, but stays on 2009 (CustomerSinceYear) and will not change to 2010, I can't figure out why it is doing this. I don't know if it is because I set the parameter as a string instead of int, but in code it only specifies add(string, string) for text, value.
when selecting an item from any of the dropdown controls the hover menu disappears:
[Code]....
May be I'm trying to run before I can walk, but here goes, I find coding for ASP so frustrating it's just not logical JIM!Anyways after my rant, as I'm a huge fan of the listview control in WinForms I'm trying to get the hang of it in ASP, wth not much luck so far.
View 3 RepliesAccording below code I save data in session:
protected void Imgorder_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
ImageButton ibtn = sender as ImageButton;
int id = Convert.ToInt32(Request.QueryString["Id"].ToString());
DataTable dtFiles = GetFilmInfo(id);
string Name = dtFiles.Rows[0][1].ToString();
[Code] ....
In gridview I define dropdownlist that when change I tem it will change price value...
protected void DdlQuantityS(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
DropDownList ddlQuantity = (sender as DropDownList);
Label quantity = ddlQuantity.NamingContainer.FindControl("LblQuanyity") as Label;
quantity.Text = ddlQuantity.SelectedItem.Text.Trim() == "Select" ? "0" : ddlQuantity.SelectedItem.Text.Trim();
Label price = ddlQuantity.NamingContainer.FindControl("LblPrice") as Label;
[Code] ....
And according below code it will show quantity number in dropdownlist:
protected void OnRowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
using (SqlConnection conn = General.GetConnection())
{
using (SqlCommand cmd = General.GetCommand("OrderNum", conn))
[Code]....
Now I want when I change dropdownlist Item from gridview it will save quantity(selected Item from dropdownlist) and price and priceT in seesion["Order"] that created in ImgorderM_Click metod...
How I can do it?
I apologize in advance for my poor english:1. I have a dropdownList within my datagrid and its already populated fine (22 rows in my datagrid)2. The select item for the 21 row is the same as the select item of the 22 row3. When trying to do selectedIndexChange for the 22 row, it didn't seem to work.The error:
Dim ddl As DropDownList = CType(sender, DropDownList)
Dim dgi As DataGridItem = CType(ddl.Parent.Parent, DataGridItem)
Dim rowID As Integer = dgi.ItemIndex
The rowID keep staying at 20 even though the selectedIndexChanged is happening in row 22( ie. rowID should be 21)
not quit sure where I've go wrong with this but hopefully someone might have an idea why this isn't working:
This what I thought would work:
[code]....
But it's not! what I get for the OnClientClick attribute is: "DeleteRowKey=<%# dataBinder.Eval(Container.dataItem, "idx_mstrWord") %> "
I've tried several variations (EVAL, BIND, specifying the container and not specifying the container),
none of which gives the expected results; OnClientClick="DeleteKeyRow=12345"
If I add a label and set the text to: <%# dataBinder.Eval(Container.dataItem, "idx_mstrWord") %> I get a number which is what I should but if I try to get it to embed it so my cleint script can work with the data all I get is binding command.
What am I doing wrong? I really don't want to have to kludge around with some hidden field and then have to search through the grid to get at this data key. I need this key on the client side in order to provide additional details in my confirmation popup modal.
I have seen several post on this but I cant seem to make any head way. I have a createUserWizard that creates a user and on my CompleteWizardStep I have a drop down that needs data bound to it. The error I am getting is 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' Null referenctException my code is:
Dim iSavesCounties As New dsISavesTableAdapters.tbl_countiesTableAdapter
Dim ddNewCounties As DropDownList
ddNewCounties = CType(CreateUserWizardStep1.ContentTemplateContainer.FindControl("ddCounties"), DropDownList)
ddNewCounties.DataSource = iSavesCounties.GetData()
ddNewCounties.DataTextField = "countyName"
ddNewCounties.DataValueField = "countyId"
ddNewCounties.DataBind()
Dim iSavesCounties As New dsISavesTableAdapters.tbl_countiesTableAdapter
In my project requirement user wants to enter a manual entry if they can not find an item in the drop down list.
Right now what I am doing is:
I set the dropdown list autopost back true and on selectedchanged event I am hiding the drop down list and showing a text box to enter a manual entry...
This is working perfect and no problems..
but the drop down list needs to change to a text box on only selecting a "unknown" option in the list...all other list items are doing unnecessary post back to the server with no use...
I'm currently working on a project and I want to make as much things as possible performing on client side - with as little loading as possible. The project consist of three "main" pages. On one page I use jQuery DataTable plugin which is working great. One page has tabs (using jQuery). I want to put datacontrol (repeater) on this site and when user selects one item in dropdown, data in repeater loads on client side, without performing the action on server.
