View 3 RepliesI have a gridview, which contains a template field with a button. On this button, I want to show and hide another column with this one button. I don't want to use Java Script because my site already uses a lot of this and AJAX. So, can someone show an example of some code behind, which is what I want to do on how to show and hide another column on a gridview?
View 1 Repliesi have a gridview, in my gridview, i have a attachment button.
when user click on the attachment button, it will direct them to EquipmentAttachment.aspx.
what i want to do right now is, if the attachment exist, then the attachment button visible, else the button attachment set to false.
I have a table in my database called "Profiles". This holds data on Female and Male personal characteristics.On my aspx, I have a formview in edit mode which is binded to an object data source with a GetDataByUserId Select methodwhich retrieves data from the "Profiles" Table via a DAL.The "Profiles" table has some columns which relates to females only and some just males and some are generic to both.See example below
UserId - / of Type GUID
GenreId / of Type BOOL.
Hip Size (For females)
Dress Size ( For Females)
ChestSize (For Men )
TrouserSize (For Men)
Weight ( For both )
When the User logs in , they go to an update Page which has the Formview in Edit Item Mode and contains drop down Lists whichare binded to the Users Selected Value. The DDL are in turn bound to their related table such as HIP, Dress, Chest, Trouser etc.bjectiveIf a female user logs in I just want to show them the (Hip Size) DDL and DressSizeDDL in the Edit item template of the formview and not the ChestSize DDL or TrouserSize DDL.At present the GetProfileByUserId returns all colums from the tableMy question is how do I do this and just show DDL which are relevant to the Female or Male Only. In some cases the usermay not have selected an item in the previous form so they could also be NULL.Am i on the right path by writing a Select Query that checks to see if the User is Male or Female by checking the Genre column in Profiles first.Do I also need 2 panels, 1 to hide Female DDLS and the other to Hide MaleDDLs subject to logged in user genre.
in above code works fine if every textbox disable/enable depending upon the dropdown list selected value, in my query i want effects only one textbox
in my query i have gridview with 1 dropdown list ddl, two texboxes tb1 and tb2.
tb1 is in visible false..
tb2 is in visible true.
if i select dropdown selected value as "other" tb1 column should be visible and ddl selected value not effected to another textbox tb2.
There is a dropdown with two status (Cleared, Pending) in the formview.
I want to hide Edit button of the form if the dropdown displays Cleared. So that the user may not edit further in the data.
I am trying to show/hide TemplateField of gridview but not getting it... here is ma sample aspx code
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="ColumnA">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="lblTest" runat="server" Text=' <%# Eval("Test")>'></asp:Label>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
Now in server side i am trying to hide this column but failed !!
protected void gv_RowCreated(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.Header || e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
gv.Columns[2].HeaderStyle.CssClass = "hiddenClass"; // here i am setting display:None using css class
}
how to show/hide TemplateField on server side
i have a detailsview and if the tick box field "controlled" = true then I want the edit button to be hidden.
View 34 RepliesNew users can register on my site by completing a basic form that has the create user wizard control with some additional information i am collecting using a CheckBox List. They can then log in to the site and and view "MypProfilePage.aspx" where I display the information with the CheckBoxList boxes already ticked based their selections which they can update. My problem is I have two levels of User and each one has a different registration form.
Registration Form A
Has 20 Items in the CheckBox List
Registration Form B
Has 10 items in the CheckBox List
On the Profile Page, I just want to show the CheckBox which is relevant to the Registration form A or B and with selections by the registered user. So therefore the User who registered on B will not be able to see the selections checkbox list for A.
i have done everything there is to do to make it work but the panel doesnt show after data has been saved.
here is the code

can we dispalay autogenerated edit button column at a desired location in gridview columns?
View 3 RepliesI am looking at building a grouping gridview, which I will know, will suit my needs. Therefore, I am not looking for a nested gridview. My answer is based upon an example I found at [URL]
However, what I am looking to do is to add a button to the group header row, which when pressed the rows within the group can either be shown or hidden.
I have been trying to get a Gridview of a list of usernames and passwords for site login that the Edit button would be disabled if one of the columns had a certain word in it?
For now, I need the Edit button to be disabled if the Username for a record is "admin". Is there a way to do this? My current code is here:

I am checking string and then bind category. If condition is false then i need anchor tag in which i pass querystring to specific link.
<itemtemplate>
<asp:Literal runat="server" ID="litPrice" Text='<%#((String.IsNullOrEmpty(Eval("Price").ToString()) || Eval("Price").ToString()=="00/0.00" || Eval("Price").ToString()=="0/0.00") ? "<span font-family="arial"><a href="http://www.xyz.com/web/enquiries.asp?category="+ Eval("category")>Enquiry</a></span>" : Eval("Price"))%>' >

I need to check for two differect text to make the Edit button inactive. For example, I need to make the button inactive when the ActionTypeName field has value either Accepted date or Received date. I can do one check with Accepted date but not both.

$("[id*=GridView1] td").bind("mouseout", function () {
$(this).closest("tr").find("[id*=lnkDelete]").hide();

I have applied your code and it's just worked like a charm but got couple of issue.
I have "Show all" & "Hide all" button and wanted to expand all the nested grid in one go and like wise hide.
I want to open asp panel inside gridview selected row and the panel is placed outside the gridview(above gridview) using javascript or jquery.

View 5 Replieswhat changed do I need to make to my code for it to achieve what I'm after.
At the moment I am getting a "cannot cast to type" error message with the below code.
I have also tried calling the ItemDataBound method in with the parent repeater tags and had no errors but when I clicked on the button it would just move back to the top of the page and would not hide or show any data. Also I have made the div style to none but the first record still shows its child but the rest don't.

Can someone tell me if there is a technique to make an entire Column within an gridview (for example digits) editable (instaed of a single row) and update this column after changing values by press an Update-button?
A commercial solution is also o.k. with me, but, of course, a method to do it ourselve would be nice.
Solved like this
currentID = Convert.ToInt32(GridView_ABC.DataKeys[0].Values[0]);
activityName = Convert.ToString(GridView_ABC.DataKeys[1].Values[1]);
DataRow row =
originalDataTable.Select(String.Format("EmployeeID = {0} AND ActivityName = '{1}'", currentID, activityName))[0];
[Code]....
and im not getting the result i expected =
I want if the header of a particular column contains a word "S", the header and row turns red. I used following code to make header red and it works fine. How to make it such that the rows also turn red if condition is met ? I cannot hardcode in columns since the Gridview is autogenerate colums as data structure keeps changing.
Protected Sub GridView1_DataBound(ByVal sender
As
Object,
ByVal e
As System.EventArgs)Dim HeaderRow
As GridViewRow = GridView1.HeaderRowFor
Each c
As TableCell
In HeaderRow.CellsIf c.Text.EndsWith("S")
Then
c.BackColor = Drawing.Color.OrangeRed
End
If
Next
End
Sub
What would be the best way to handle the following scenario? I have an application where depending on what type of proceeding is selected, only certain input fields should be visible.
There are 33 proceeding types and 14 input fields in total
First case, make one big form with all of the fields and have a dropdown with proceeding type which depending on what is selected, makes certain fields visible?
