A user has multiple images which is stored in database(datatype varbinary ).I want to show all the images of that particular user in gridview.Can you people guide me how to achieve this?(Asp.net with c#)

I have some data displayed in GridView and there are multiple (repeat) entires.
There are about 20 rows of the same data, but I only want to display 1 row.
I know can amend PageSize="1" but then it shows multiple pages which I also don't want.
The multiple rows - are all of the exact same data - but it should only appear once!
I want to make a website which showing thumbnail images be taken from local folder,say,'thumbnails' inside the root folder like listview items.Below each thumbnails,the name of the file would be displayed with check boxes for selecting any thumbnail images.Clicking on any thumbnails will redirect to another page where the thumbnails and the original image(with the same name in some other local folder say 'Original') would be displayed.

I'm trying to show images that come from a sql query into a GridView column, the problem is that the best solution found in the web searches the database twice for each row.
This solution says that we have to first create a handler (ImageHandler.ashx),
It will receive the ID of the row that contains the image, and then query the database with that ID.
Then it will finally perform something like "context.Response.BinaryWrite((byte[])dReader["Photo"]);" (in this case the handler uses a DataReader, I guess we could use another approach)
We also have to declare the image column in the markup as:

<asp:Image ID="Image1" runat="server" ImageUrl='<%# "ImageHandler.ashx?ID=" + Eval("ID")%>' />
</ItemTemplate>

The problem is that, the Grid is bound to a SqlDataSource with a SelectCommand like: "Select ID, Name, Photo FROM Employees", that is already querying the database, then the GridView will execute the handler with the ID in it's query string, so the handler will query the database again for the same row, to extract the image.
Isn't there a way to send the image to the handler, so that it only performs the instruction "context.Response.BinaryWrite..." without having to query the database again?

View 7 RepliesI am working on a ASP website, coded in VB.net, using Visual Studios 2010. I have a GridView that contains a template column currently. This template column is not the key and cannot be, since it does not exist in my database. (As far as I understand.) In my code behind, I calculate data based on information pulled from multiple columns of a database and currently build a string for my results. The results are stored currently in this empty template column. For example, 1 cell in the template column will currently display the string: "Red, Yellow, Green".
Instead, I would like to display multiple images in one cell to reflect the colors. These images are currently stored in "...Visual Studio 2010WebSites[My Website]images". The string can contain any number of colors, and colors can occur more than once. Is what I want to do possible, and if so how can I go about this? Here is an example of my database, if this provides useful. I do not want to have a column for each color in my GridView, and again a color can occur more than once.

I have a listview that shows the user the details of the members who have sent friendship request. The table from which the data come has two fields namely, sender_id[id of the one who sends friendship request] and receiver_id[id of the one to whom the request is sent].
There will be two columns in the listview. The first would show the pic and the name of the user. The problem is that how am I going to show the pic and the name if the table from where the data come does not contain these info. I know that the sender_id can be used to fetch the pic and name of the sender, but how should it be done?
Earlier I would do something like <%#Eval("fieldName")%>. But in the above described scenario the field is not present in the current table but the other one.
I know how to store and retrieve images into the sql database. My question in how do I iterate over the retrieved images to convert to a byte[] array and bind to the image control in the datalist?

I have an inventory page with a gridview that shows 1 item per record, each item starts with a checkbox in the gridview. Currently users can select multiple records and hit the order button and everything has worked well. Now I have multiple pages in my gridview, and if a user selects a few records from the first page, and then goes to the second page, all the records (checked checkboxes) disappear from the first page.

I create reports sometimes with a gridview and export the data to excel. Lets say I have like multiple gridviews and I wanted to export each gridview to excel under its own spreadsheet.
So gridview1, gridview2, gridview3 are exported to excel under $heet1, $heet2, $heet3.
I know how to export multiple gridviews to 1 excel sheet but I don't know how to export them separately under their own spreadsheet.

I have 2 tables named Months & Attendence; Their containing fields are-
#1. MonthsName, StartDate, EndDate (like- January-2011, 01-01-2011, 01-31-2011 ...and so on)

I have an image button on my gridview in one column, and in the next column, I have a nested gridview. What I am looking to do, is to use my image button as a way to show and hide my nested gridview.
