I am working on a ASP website, coded in VB.net, using Visual Studios 2010. I have a GridView that contains a template column currently. This template column is not the key and cannot be, since it does not exist in my database. (As far as I understand.) In my code behind, I calculate data based on information pulled from multiple columns of a database and currently build a string for my results. The results are stored currently in this empty template column. For example, 1 cell in the template column will currently display the string: "Red, Yellow, Green".
Instead, I would like to display multiple images in one cell to reflect the colors. These images are currently stored in "...Visual Studio 2010WebSites[My Website]images". The string can contain any number of colors, and colors can occur more than once. Is what I want to do possible, and if so how can I go about this? Here is an example of my database, if this provides useful. I do not want to have a column for each color in my GridView, and again a color can occur more than once.
I need to generate gridview based on table value... let us consider i have in my aspx page one dropdownlist in which i have binded somevalefor example: dropdownlist contain:- Item1 based on Item1 i have three table first table conists A,B,C,D value. Second Table consist 1,2,3,4,5 Third Table consist (0.5,0.6,0.7) for 1, (0.7,1.0) for 2, (0.6) for 3, (0.8) for 4, and another(0.8) for 5 based on this three table i need to show girdview like this which is below If its Item2 dropdownlist then row and column of girdview will be any number based on first, second, third table value for Item2like this if Item3 dropdownlist then row and column of girdview will be any number based on first, second, third table value for Item3.help me to achieve dynamic rows and column based on database value... in asp.net C#....
A user has multiple images which is stored in database(datatype varbinary ).I want to show all the images of that particular user in gridview. Can you people guide me how to achieve this?(Asp.net with c#)
I'm new to web dev and c# so please bare with me. I am trying to create a dynamic gridview in a web form for users to to answer questions with (code below).
The dificulty im having is that i am nesting a dropdwonlist in the gridview and want to be able to dynamically set the list values based on parameters (of the row they are on). These values are in the main dataset for the gridview as each row represents a questionid and question text and then a ddl for the criteria...
I just don't know how to set the values for the dropdown all the code so far is below... just need to be able to populate the dropdowns with the relevant values.
I have created a stored proc to return the different criteria based on the questionid and questionGroupid which is the dataset that populates the other fields in the gridview: dbo.usp_QuestionCriteria @QuestionGroupId, @QuestionId
I have added this as a tableadapter called criteriaTableAdapter in a xsd file as well using the wizard... not sure if this is the right option though or just use the same method as i have for the other stored procedure as in the code below:

1. I have gridview which is bind with sql data source column name industry 2. I have checkbox list which has all industry name, 3. I want to pass checkboxlist selected value to sql data souce to filter data in gridview.
The page count is set to 10, when the user checks the checkbox(es), I will need to insert those records in a table. How will I know which row was selected? I found an example (untried) that is designed to loop through and insert the necessary records; but it does not address inserting records based on selecting rows via a checkbox. How do I put everything together.
I've got a bit of an chicken and an egg. I need to bind a gridview to a set of database values. The gridview is dynamic and the columns, cells are created at run time. As such, I need to re-bind the grid on every postback in the pre-init, init events after very post back.
However, the data used to populate the grid uses a value from a dropdown box on the same page. As such, the value of dropdown is not accessible through viewstate until after the init event (i.e. the selected index is always the first item in the list until after on init). How can I get access to the value of the drop down in time to rebind the grid before the pageload event?
i have the following scenario, i have a column of a gridview that shows me a text telling me is the user is allowed or not to access to some page, but now i just showing allow and deny, but i wanna show images that represent me the action, how can i do that?
If there's a better way to accomplish what I'm attempting I haven't found it yet. That being said, I have create a gridview like the one here,[URL]And with some minor tweaking it working great for all my fields, checkboxes, etc. The issue is my last column is another gridview, and I'd like it to function the same. that is, a dynamic gridview inside of a dynamic gridview. I get that I have to create it initially with null values or it won't show up. I guess what I'm having trouble figuring out is instead of go will null data in the parent gridviews column, do I place my blank child gridview. Do I create and bind the child gridview first, or second. Generally just not sure. Also, as far as storing the data from the child gridview goes, will each one need it's own datatable?
How can I design an efficient AJAX based dynamic table using .NET ? Do I necessarily need to use JQuery / Prototype libraries or plug-ins to achieve this?I am referring to similar implementation : www.coupontom.com
I believe this is not possible using the existing AJAX control toolkit.
As a workaround for the fact that asp:Checkboxes don't have values, I am attempting to dynamically create the ID's of checkboxes in a DataList so that it inserts the primary keys into the control ID. This is surprisingly difficult.
I have placed a PlaceHolder in my DataList ItemTemplate, then in the ItemCreated I create the checkboxes using string.Format("Checkbox{0}", DataBinder(e.Item.DataItem, "ID")). The problem is that this only works in a non-postback condition, as on postback the DataItem is null. And of course ItemDataBound isn't called on PostBack so that won't work either.
I can't seem to find a good way to handle this short of if (IsPostback) dataList.Bind(), which i don't think is a good way to do it.
I know how to store and retrieve images into the sql database. My question in how do I iterate over the retrieved images to convert to a byte[] array and bind to the image control in the datalist?
I would like to know what the best method of uploading a batch of images/photos would be. Below are the steps that need to be implemented: Select Multiple images/photos from a directoryUpload original images to webserverGenerate thumbnailsUpload thumbnails to webserverAdd image and thumbnail details to a Database Does anyone know any vb.net script that will allow me to do this or will I have to code it from sratch?
I am writting a directory website that advertises fitness classes. These classes are listed by Class Type, and Geographical Area. Each Class Type can satisfy one or more of four Fitness Goals such as Loose Weight etc...
I have a table for Classes (classid, classname, classdesc, classtypeid, geoareaid) I have a table for geographic areas (geoareaid, geoarea) And I have a table for ClassTypes (classtypeid, classtypename, classtypedesc)
Which obviously links geographic area via the classes.geoareaid as a forgien key and classtypes by classes.classtypeid as a forgien key.
I can list all classes by type and also by geo area no problem, the problem arrises when I then also want to filter by goal.
The Goals Table (goalid, goal, goaldesc) is linked to the classtypes table via another table classtypes_goals (classtypeid, goalid) as each classtype can satisfy any of the 4 goals.
I am using a DataSet to fetch the data from a Stored Procedure in the SQL Database but because the classtypes can be linked to multiple goals I am getting duplication in my list depending on how many goals a classtype satisfies.
All I need in my data list is class name, class type and area I don't even need to display the goal I just want a drop down above the table that will filter the list and show only classes of classtype that satisfy the goal chosen.
