Forms Data Controls :: Trigger Edit Mode In Grid View Using Query String?

I have a page that displays a grid view based on a query string. When I click the edit button I need to send the grid view into edit mode based on the query string. I have this so far:

When I requested the page the first time, the grid view displayed properly, and when I clicked the edit link button, it did trigger the update mode. However, I can't get the cancel mode to operate properly; in other words, cancel never sends it back to normal mode, as a result, with each new page request, I'm always stuck on the last edited record.

In a page, I have a tree view to the left and grid view to the right side. When any node in treeview is selected, the grid view is binded with files which the selected tree view node contains. the grid view has a row editing event for renaming the file name.
When I click on rename of file in the gridview,and without updating or cancelling it i am selecting another node in the treeview.........the details of the newly selected node are binded to the gridview. But, they are in the same edit mode with update and cancel options.

i have a grid view with some coulmns like Name,Phone no etc with Edit,Delete column in grid view. I click a row in grid view to Edit,it goes another page where i can edit all fields .Once i update i redirect the page to gridview. I have a page where I have a tab container and four tabs. the problem is on the first tab "manage quote request" I have a Gridview with the quote request general informatin listed and have a template field created with a link button to databind to the formview quote details. the porblem comes in when after I click on the select linkbutton. the Formview loads right. Then Whe I try to click on the edit linkbuttin in the form view I have to click it twice to change the mode to edit.

I have a Calendar Control on one page - the user clicks on a date and goes to another page which displays the details from a diary database for the selected date - works fine so far! Now, whilst on that second page I want to give the User the choice of displaying all diary entries for the month, or for the year. So I could create a further 2 separate pages that display a GridView for a particular Month or a particular Year but that seems a bit of an over kill.
How can I make the Grid View display from different queries or maybe dynamically change the query depending upon whether a Month or Year is selected? So my start page with the Calendar Control has this code:

After which the User gets taken to diaryPage.aspx with the Selected Date from the Calendar Control. I then created a Table Adapter on the diary Page to query the diary Database with the Selected Date and drive the Grid View to display the details for that Selected Date.

SO on that page, how do I now let the User query by Month or Year using the same Grid View? Maybe there is some generic SQL statement that could retrieve either the Selected Day, or Year or Month depending on the parameters sent to it?

I need to know how can I select a gridview row based on a query string data. In my case, the query string will contain the id that exist in the Table related to that grid. I have a grid view with edit and save buttons when I click on edit it is letting me edit it and if I click on save it is lettingme save the data that I have edited.
The thing is after save is done it is showing the data in edit mode i.e <edit item template > mode I am still seeing the textboxes if I refresh the page then I am seeing it normally.
How can I stop the gridview to show edit mode after the save is done?
