I have a repeater which is binded using a Collection of Entity Data Framework.
Once the repeater is binded using the datasource, the user can control the no of rows present in the repeater using a Dropdown list on the page. For ex: if datasource has 2 rows, user want to add 3 more rows, user selects 5 from dropdown, which adds 3 additional rows to the Repeater. I am able to do this.
The repeater has textbox controls in each row. Now once the user enter the values in this textbox of the newly generated rows, the user can save the values entered with the no of rows specified.
I have a button which is outside the repeater and on click of this i need to validate all the textbox values and save them into dB accordingly.

For example, ID, first name, last name. I find out how to do this on another page with a selected_indexchanged event with a gridview. See the code below. I'd like to be able to do the same thing but with a detailsview in the detailsview_load event.

I am trying to create a page that will display data from a database after a search action by the user. So i currently have a textbox and button to perform the search function...then i want the data fetched to be displayed on several texboxes on the page (say there are 5 texboxes that I need to populate).how this can be done? I have an asp.net page with a gridview control on it but I want to allow the user to also be able to update the selected row from a series of textboxes. I simply need the code for a button click event to do this.
button is called button1
textbox is called textbox1
gridview control is named gridview1
record to be modified is in 3rd column called PlayerName
The row to be edited will always be the only record shown and will always be selected by code I've already written. I will also need to know if the record must be set to edit mode to make the button click code work.
I'm just wondering if anyone has come across a good, easy method for updating a SQL Server 2000 DB table using the edit feature in GridView. The catch here is that I need it to encrypt, send to database, then decrypt when the page calls it to be displayed. I have successfully implemented an insert method using FormView with encryption. For some reason, I just can't seem to figure out the edit/update.

I have a gridview based on a sqldatasource that has some colums from which two colums showing the data of two fields: field1 and field2. field1 is an ID which should not be updated and therefore it is readonly=true. The sql-query from the sqldatasource is:
SelectCommand="SELECT field1, field2 from anyView"
What I want is, that when a row is updated, then the value from field1 should be copied to field2 The update-query is:
UpdateCommand="UPDATE myTable SET field2=@field2 WHERE field1=@field1"
My idea was, that the @field2 paramter gets the value from the query string out of field1:

But this does not work. Is there an easy way to copy the data from field1 to field2 when updating the row? I have a web page with a gridview & formview (master/detail relationship) combo. On page load the gridview shows all records from a SQL table. On my page I have a button that when clicked shows the formview in Insert mode to allow users to add a new record to the data. I have also added a column to my gridview that has a link. When a user clicks this link it hides the gridview and shows the formview in edit mode with the detail from the record selected from the gridview.
In my formview I am using a listbox control to allow users to select multiple values. The choices in the listbox are populated by a SQL data table. I have successfully written code to post the selected listbox values to my SQL data field during Insert. When the user selects a record to edit I have code in the databound event to select values in the listbox from the choices based on the value in the sql data field. This works as well. My problem is that I cannot figure out the correct code to update my SqL data when a user is editing the record and makes changes to the selected listbox value. I have included my design code for my listbox in my formview edittemplate and also my behind code that I have attempted.

I'm using a DetailsView object to present a record from a database in table format. I'm actually using and ObjectSource object as the data source for the details view. In the object I am using as the source for the ObjectSource, I have paired properties that hold decimals. This is, I have a property called Year1 and another property called Year1Change. This for years 1 to six. The values from the Year1 properties are in a cell, whereas the change values are bound to texboxes. The code for the frontend is the following:

Now, as you can see in the tbYr2RtCh textbox, I have an OnTextChanged property to call an event handler. This is because I want to do two things when the text changes. The first one is to make the font in the textbox bold if the value it holds is different from the Year2 property. The second one is to change the text on tbYr2RevCh to adjust the revenue for the percentage increase in the rate. The problem I have is that I cannot access the object that is the source for the data and make those changes directly in the object, instead of having to update the database. I don't want to update the database until the client says so, but the changes should be calculated immediately. I thought about creating an method in the object that I could specify in the ObjectDataSource as the update method, but I'm still not sure how to go about it.
I'm using ADO.Net code to access and update the data from the database. I'm using GridView for presentation. I wish to preserve old values of all the columns while updaing the records.
I'm using Code behind and not d Data Source controls. I wish to list the old records once record is updated.

Scenario: We are utilizing edit template within the gridview linked to a validation summary.
Question:How do I give the validation summary focus when a user incorrectly "updates" information within the gridview.

I have this problem everytime I change the select command to a custom command, and I do not know what is causing it.
My Formview will not update when i hit the update button, page refreshes but I get the same info, not the updated info. I set up my DataSource to CRUD only one table, then change the select statement just for the ItemTemplate of the Formview, leaving the rest, but it will not update
I am working with a formview edititemtemplate. Currently in my page load, i have some stuff that would show or hide certain panels based on dropdownlist values. These dropdown values get binded during page load. I need to be able to change the values/dropdowns, without rebinding the old data, and updating the visibility of the panels based on predefined rules.
I have experimented with putting my formview.databind() in page load if isnotpostback, in prerender, in prerender if isnotpostback. I have tried my rules (ex if ddlState.selectedvalue = "DE" then pnlDelaware.visible = "true") in the page load, and the page render. I'm just not sure how to get the stars aligned here. The closest i have come is having the databind in the pageload if notispostback, and the rules in the prerender. However I get an error "dropdownlist has a SelectedValue which is invalid because it does not exist in the list of items.
