I need to set the "Text" property of a label inside a gridview using, I know how to set the label using static value and I also know how to set the label using the "Bind" keyword but I want to do both, something like this:

I must create a few DataLists programmatically. All of them will share the same ItemTemplate. Is it possible to define this ItemTemplate in .aspx file, using wizard etc, and then create DataList programmatically and assign this template? There is information in the internet how to define both ItemTemplate and DataList programmatically, but I want to define the ItemTemplate statically and only DataList programmatically and then assign the template to it.
The problem that I encounter is that ItemTemplate tag only works inside some control tag. It looks like it is impossible to define an ItemTemplate (like e.g. resource in Silverlight) not associated with any DataList, using the wizard and design tools, and then reference this template in code during runtime.
I have this list of names where I want the location underneath each name but nothing is showing up. Is it not actually possible to bind the repeater's datasource to the items in the datalist because nothing is really selected in the datalist - it's just all there?

i am making a site like linkedini have a datalist which show the search of peoples from database. my problem is that, i have mixed data to show in datalist.suppose datalist going to show only 2 label values, first is "who" second is "type". who can be of 4 types just like linkedin search, "A student","employ",Bussiness owner", "working independent"when student is pick in one label from database then college will be display in second labelwhen employ is pick in one label then company will be display in second column. It means i cannot bind the second label at designtime. and even at run time i have to bind each item of second label with approprite to first label. bec search can be mixed, means if 10 peoples are searched, then may be someone is employ, someone is student, and second label should show value appropriate their first label.
I am creating a page where I am required to have a list/customized view of the data returned, unfortunately a Gridview will not handled the way that I need to display the data. One of my requirements is that I need to have a Column Seperator. I know how to add a row to the gridview on the fly, but I am not sure on how to do that with the Datalist. Can someone please point me into the right direction?
i need to group the datalist by Country name. In my database i have Shope details . now i need to display the Shop address by Grouping Country wise. For Country India i have 10 stores, for Canada i have 5 stores. so first i need to show all canada stores and then i need to show India stores. only two countrys i have.
My datalist will not have any borders. The only line that will be displayed in the datalist is a solid horizontal line after each row.
I tried setting the border of the datalist to "0px none Red" and then set the GridLines to "Horizontal", but this only works in Firefox. IE8 draws the line in barely visible grayish color, an Chrome ignores the border attributes altogether and draws all the horizontal lines.
bind images from database to datalist i can do this but how i can bind the datalist to <li> tag means i need auto generate <li> tag for each image from database.
I have a datalist on my page that allows a user to build up with orders. Each time an order is added I post back to the server, updated a dataset and then bind the dataset to the datalist.
I would rather do this on the client, for performance reasons.
Does anyone know of a way I can add a row to a datalist via javascript/jquery?
I understand this may not be possible using a datalist, so any other type of client side list tool.
