i m want to bind asp.net menu control from database and some of static value both, i know how to bind menu from DB and also know how to static bind the data in Menu, but i want two add two static record in menu control and after that i want to bind data from DB in menu control, and than again three static record bind in menu..... i think a lot about this and finally i thought to add my static data in dataset at particular positons, but problem is that i dont know how to bind static data in dataset at particular 1st 2nd and 4th,5th,6th pos.

I am working on a custom menu control, partially as a learning exercise, and I am having trouble with Visual Studio's IntelliSense support for it in markup view.The conventional ASP.NET menu allows you to place an arbitrary depth of <asp:MenuItem/> elements under the <Items>...</Items> element. I'm after the same behaviour for my menu.Mine unfortunately does not. VS insists on an empty tag:

I have a datalist control
In it, I have a hyperlink that im binding the url, and the text to from a mysql database
here is my code so far

Now, the problem is, the field "topicid" returns a number, such as 3. I want to add the following text before it: viewTopic.aspx?id=
So, ideally, i want something like this
<asp:HyperLink ID="HyperLink1" runat="server"
NavigateUrl='<%# "viewTopic.aspx?id=" + Bind("topicid") %>' Text='<%# Bind("title") %>'></asp:HyperLink>
But, when I do it that way, I obviously get an error.
So, is there any way to solve this problem without having to modify the database?

I have created a user control which is inside a folder called Controls and the class is a partial class which inherits from Web.UI.UserControl. Now from my page which is one level up I just try to access the method inside the usercontrol and so trying to cast it as the type of user control. But I get build errors. It just cannot recognize that class. I get Type not defined error. But at times it has recognized the class. Dont know why it does that.

I am doing a rework on one of my sites and I am attempting to use the asp:menu control.
I am using images in the static and dynamic menus. Hard coded at this point.
On my local machine it works fine but when I upload to the server, the image on the dynamci menus do not appear.
Instead I just get white space where the images should be.

In my project i have a navigation bar which shows the different types of recipes e.g: Healthy Recipes, Desserts, etc...
In the same page i have a gridview which is binded by database (RecipeTable) to show the list of recipes available.
My problem is how should i bind gridview with the navigation bar selection.
e.g: when a user clicks on Healthy Recipe the gridview should show the recipes saved under healthy recipes type.

No textbox are placed on .aspx page at design timeI have a datatable filled with a single record.now i want to bind a textbox (created at runtime) with a column of datatable so that when a page is loaded value in datatable's column is displayed in textbox.Other Important thing i want is when i make any changes in Textbox, It should be reflected automatically in a column to which textbox is binded. I'm trying to implement a custom filter template for all text based searches and running into problems constructing the query. I've been following the instructions posted on this blog but not sure how change the GetQueryable method to perform a WHERE columnAttribute LIKE '%something%'query. In the example on the blog the expression is an equality which works if the text I enter exactly matches the text in the database column.
At the moment I'm using the new QueryExtender feature along with the SearchExpression control but this requires creating several custom pages for all the tables I need text search functionality for. I would like to DRY this up by creating the custom filter template.

All of examples on web assume the remote server which we are going to debug remotely is on the same network. I have only a static IP address and using RDP I connect to server.
