Forms Data Controls :: Chart Control Not Visible In Gridview Editing And Updating Events?
Apr 14, 2010
i have asp.net chart control and gridview control in updatepanle my issue is when i click on edit link in gridview my chart control is not displaying but when i refresh my page iam to see it why is so??
I started using the awesome chart controls with my asp.net apps recently and so far they've been nothing short of breath taking. Right now I have a weird problem, on the first load of my page, the chart control appears correctly and the tooltip is correct, however, when I update it with new data, the chart displays correctly, but the tooltips are for the previous set of data.
I hope this makes sense. The first time I load the chart, the pie chart segments and tooltips are correct, after a partial postback (to get the new data), the pie chart segments are correct but the tooltips are for the previous data set.
Basically once the tooltips are set the first time, they can't be updated after that without a full page postback.
Here's how I set the tooltip:
[Code]....
Anyone else noticed this behaviour and have a work around?
Currently my only workaround is to check for a partial postback and not render the tooltip, which I'd rather not do as the tooltip display actual statistical data as opposed to the pie itself (which uses percentages).
I have a master/detail page using a gridview as the master, and a detailsview as the details. The gridview is set to select a record, and the detailsview picks up the ID and you can either edit that record, or add a new one.The detailsview is set up with various template fields, and if everything on the page is visible, it works OK.However, I wanted to hide the Gridview when the user in working with the detailsview. But if I do that, the detailsview doesn't update the record.
I have a Gridview set up so when a user clicks the various buttons it sorts the results. I have a couple problems. Right now the way i have the viewStates set up, it is only working when the buttons are clicked twice. I Was also wondering how to set up the viewstates so it binds properly when the editing and updating. I have read up on ViewStates and I am still a bit confused.
I hav a gridview in which i display the project name, created date,Start time ,end time ,total hours along with the task id field which is visible=false.
My starttime and endtime format is 2010-10-13 03:00:00,but i want to display these two fields in dropdownlist ie.,only i want to display the HH:MM:SS in dropdown so that when the user changes the time it should be automatically be reflected in the total hours(6:0) field after updating.pls tell me what i have to do to bring the Hours ,minutes and seconds in dropdownlist into the cells of gridview with the value in database ,how to write the code.
I have an issue in using dot net chart control. In chart last column is not completely shown which give bad appearance and on right side of chart it looks like TickMark are enabled. I set MajorTickMark of AxisY2 disabled but still tick marks on right side.
I am using MS Chart control (3.5), and have a requirement where I need to display 2 pie charts. The datapoints for the pie charts is set programatically. My doubts are as follows:
1. Can I display both the pie charts in a single chart control and area, or do I have to use two controls? (Currently I am using two controls)
2. How can I maintain the same size for both the pie charts? This is my main concern, since the pie sizes keep changing, depending on the number of datapoints. I tried using custom properties like "MinimumRelativePieSize", but it's not working.
i'm trying to create a stacked bar chart on a vb web form using vs2010.My data source returns:
Error in Functionality Awaiting on Supplier
1IMT IssuesmActive6
IMT Issues,Awaiting on Supplier
2,IMT Issues,Awaiting on User 4
IMT Issues Closed 120
Login / Password Active
But I can't get this into a stacked chart. I know I must have to do quite a bit of work declaring what the series are and soforth, or having a different dataset but can't find any documentation on it.A link to some documentation or an example of a stacked chart from an sql datasource would be much appreciated.
I've googled a bit for the exact order of all gridview events relative to and where inbetween page events. The only Microsoft article: [URL] is not very clear. I'm especially interested in the gridview row_command event relative to page events.
I have a gridview that I loop through to get the x and y values of the chart control, and upon the first execution of this code, it looks great. But when the page posts back and it "refreshes" data, the original points on the chart control are still there, as well as the new values.
Is there any way to "delete" all data in the chart control to ensure this doesn't happen?
I am using fileuploader control in gridview template control's edittemplate but the problem is when i press edit button fileuploader control and update other controls such as textboxes and press update button there is no value for Fileuploader control so i need the value of image control that is in itemtemplate so i pass it as a parameter.
I have a user control called ucTriStateButton. It raises an event when it is clicked, called TriStateButtonClicked. If I put this user control on a page, it works fine. Here is the declaration on the .aspx page:
[Code]....
When the button is clicked the method tsbTest_TriStateButtonClicked executes correctly.
The problem is when I put the user control in template field of a GridView.
[Code]....
There is no way to hook the event handler to the control in Page_Load because I cannot get a reference to tsbMorning. So I did it in the RowDataBound event handler of the GridView, where I also do a bunch of other row-specific stuff. Although this builds and runs, the event is never actually subscribed to and so never gets fired.
So the question is - how can I handle an event from many instances of the same user control within a GridView? I am calling the same bit of code regardless of which user control is actually clicked. I only need to know that one was clicked.
I have a gridview, and I was trying to use SQLAdapter for the first time. I have it set up but I want the user to enter a Date in the last field of the Gridview and be able to update it. I was looking up examples, and I cannot get it to properly update. The field I want to be able to update is the "TADateUpdate" I have gotten it to show the texbox fields to edit, but I can't figure out a method to update properly.
One of my pages shows all of our customer information from a customer table. I want the user to choose whether to see all customer records, or select a specific record from a list. So, my webpage has two radio buttons (show all customers, show specific customer), a listbox (full of customer names), and a formview control. The problem I'm having is getting the formview to update when I change modes via radio buttons or listbox selection (see code below).
And get this error when I click 'Edit' and then 'Update':

I'm having a weird problem where the GridView cell that I'm programmatically updating turns grey, and throws a null error when attempting to save row. I have been searching all day and have not been able to find a solution. I'm guessing there is a problem with my code, so here it is:
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
I have a nested gridview dynamically added. It seems I resolved all issues with the loading this control on a parent page along with other controls and I can trigger the edit of the first level - the master part of the gridview. However, I cannot trigger the edit on a child gridview.
OnRowEditing="grdChildGridEdit_RowEditing"
The master and the child gridviews have objectdatasources in a markup but I have to do the additional data binding after the loading the control on the parent page (see the code below). I'm doing that additional data binding only for the master gridview that is working fine and shows the data for the master and the child gridviews. When I click the Edit button on the master gridview it shows text boxes for the editing but when I click the Edit button on the child gridview it's doing nothing and moreover the editing mode for the master gridview is going back to the initial stage (labels).
I was trying to trigger it throughuse the registering the event:
