Forms Data Controls :: Clause On UserID Together With Other Parameters Does Not Work?

May 4, 2010

Iīm a newbie at .NET and Iīm trying to solve how to run a datagrid with parameters. I know how to do where clauses with controls and today I managed to solve how to have a where clause at UserID within a SelectingEvent.BUT, I canīt run them both in the same time. I want to run a query based on the month in a dropdownlist and the UserID. Each one individually works. Why canīt this be done? Is the onselect statement ignoring the other parameter? I donīt get any errors. The ASPX (in VB.net) code is:

<%@ Page Title="" Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/Site.master" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeFile="IndividuellBonus.aspx.vb" Inherits="Income_IndividuellBonus" %>

DataSource Controls :: Select Distinct With Where Clause Don't Work?

May 2, 2010

I'm using asp.net login on a SQL Database.

I have 12 users in my User tabel - one of the user I don't want to have in my select (the user is an admin).

I tried this:

[Code]....

I also tried:

WHERE (dbo.aspnet_Roles.RoleName <> 'Administrators')

Both time it took the user into the table....

If I instead try this

WHERE (dbo.aspnet_Roles.RoleName = 'Administrators')

I get only one row (as expected).

What is wrong with the above sql statement - why can't I get 11 users and not them all (12 users)?

Forms Data Controls :: Using A Selected Row In GridView As Part Of The Where Clause On FormView??

May 15, 2010

I am fairly new to Visual Web Developer so I hope this makes sense.I have a page with a GridView (code below). When a person clicks on the Select Link, I would like it to direct them to a page with a FormView of the selected row so that it can be edited. I feel that this should be fairly basic but am having trouble finding the means to make it happen.

<asp:GridView ID="GridView1" runat="server" AllowPaging="True"
DataSourceID="SqlDataSource1" Height="230px" Width="829px"
AutoGenerateColumns="False" CellPadding="4" ForeColor="#333333" [code]....

Forms Data Controls :: Filtering A Gridview By UserId?

Dec 30, 2010

I am trying to populate a gridview that returns only the logged in users' records. Specifically, I am getting a blank page when I load the page. To clarify, I get the blank page after successfully logging in to the ASP.Net Membership and do have data to return from the requested table.

I am reaching out to the online community after numerous failed attempts to research the solution and successfully return the desired results through trial and error variations.

Forms Data Controls :: Using The Selected Index Of A Gridview Where The Key Includes UserID?

Jul 17, 2010

I have Gridview1 that brings up the columns Resorts, Seasons, Seasons_ID, Resorts_ID, and User_ID

The three ID's are all foreign keys from related tables, and they are together a combined primary key of the table being accessed (they were defined that way to prevent duplicate entries for any User/Resort/Season combination).

Now the problem: I want to use the selected row from that gridview in the WHERE clause of a SQLDatasource by setting the WHERE clause up like:

WHERE (([Resort_ID] = @Resort_ID) AND ([Season_ID] = @Season_ID) AND ([User_ID] = @User_ID)) , with the parameters each coming from statements like

Gridview1.SelectedValue

When I select a row in the Gridview, I get the following error:

Operand type clash: uniqueidentifier is incompatible with int

I am pretty sure this has to do with the User_ID being in the WHERE clause.

So I have tried something like this to access the selected index:

Gridview1.DataKeys(Gridview1.SelectedIndex).Value

This does not work, as it seems to return only the first key (of three) in the DataKeyNames list.

So the question: How can I use the SelectedIndex of that gridview for such a purpose when the key contains a UserID?

Forms Data Controls :: How To Change Insert To Edit If UserId Exist In Table

Feb 6, 2011

It sounds pretty simple, but I can't find a way to make it work. I have a FormView with a InsertTemplate where it inserts the current logged in user's UserId and content from a HTMLeditor, and a EditTemplate where it retreives the current logged in UserId and shows content from database in the HTMLeditor.

How can I get it to show EditTemplate if the userId exist in the table, and InsertTemplate if the UserId does not exist in the table?

AJAX :: SQLDataSource With Parameters Doesn't Work Inside A ModalPopup?

Jun 8, 2010

although I've searched already, but here is the thing:I have a ModalPopup wich have a Textbox, a Button and a GridView inside. The Gridview is binded to a SQLDatasource object, and the Select query is something like "SELECT field_1, field_2, field_3, field_4 FROM Table_Name WHERE field_1 LIKE '%@Parameter_2%'".This ModalPopup is used (or gonna be used) to search for a field, so the parameters received by the Query is the text inside the Textbox, I've linked thid inside the SQLDataSource Wizard. The problem is that everything works perfectly fine... inside the panel WITHOUT the ModalPopup Extender, but whe I add the Extender the filter function doesn't work. Here is my code:

[Code]....

Notes: I have a ScriptManager inside the MasterPage, so I don't have to insert one in every page. Also I've tested the code in a new page (the one I use for testing), and it works fine, it filters and everything, the problem is when I add a ModalPopup to the panel.

Forms Data Controls :: Syntax For Passing ListView Data To SQL Input Parameters?

Dec 11, 2010

I have a ListView displaying data from Table A using a SqlDataSource.

I want to take the displayed data (and these are just the standard columns representing fields in Table A) and store them in Table B using a Stored Procedure

(The scenario is much more complex but I've left out anything not relating to this exact problem).

I've added a Button to the ListViews ItemTemplate and I'm using OnItemCommand to create a Sub for its "Click" in the Code Behind.

This is a simplified chunk of the SQL I'm using to insert the ListView's fields into Table B using the Stored Procedure "InsertCart":

[Code]....

Where I've highlighted "Description" in the last line. In a GridView, this would be enough. Description is a Column name in Table A and B and iy's an Item in the ListView. But I'm realising that, with ListView's, the data binding is not as "automatic" as a GridView. Just using the columnname is not enough.

What do I use instead of the word Description to reference this column in the Parameter?
