i have apage with datarepeater, and the repeater has a data source. and in the repeater i have atext box control
i want to give it the value from the data source coulomn ("question column")
like this:txtQuestion.Text = rptrQuestions.DataSource.Columns["Question"].(here is the problem)
what can i write after (Columns["Question"]) to see the value for this column?

I have a data bound gridview, all columns except 1 need to be formated in % {0:p2} , if i explicitly define the colms its simple, but I need to do 6 grids and even if i cut an past it makes much more (14 colms) markup then i would like, is there another way?

I want to write the default column names in gridview when the data is not coming from the dataset or you can say that datset is blank.

I have a repeater control having columns in it.When I bind the control to a data source then some of the columns become empty when there is no data associated with it.I want to hide the column if there is no data associated with it.I was trying to implement a solution given in this thread:

I have a problem specific to the gridview control, i am using the datasource to generate an update method for the data in my table.
Some of my columns are display only fields so i have set them to "read only = true" Everything seems fine when the page loads but when i click update, the columns that were editable update fine but the ones set to read only have now updated the databasewith a null value. Am i missing something here?

I have a gridview with columns (pseudo-code):

AuthorLastName
BookTitle
YearPublished

what I would like to do is to only show the AuthorFirstName and AuthorLastName columns for the first row of each author. I am easily doing this with:

However the issue that I'm seeing now is the formatting what happens is that after the first row that the Author names are hidden but then the BookTitle and YearPublished become the new cell(0) and cell(1) respectively which means that book and year are displaying underneath the author names columns. so my goal is to do 2 things:
1 have BookTitle and YearPublished render under the correct headers and
2. For the second row and after I would like the cell to appear the same as the background, I dont want the user to be seeing what looks like an empty cell or textbox there.

I have a gridview that is being populated by an oracle DB. The gridview have 2 columns now one shows years and the other is a checkbox column. What is happening is my years column is very long and I wanted to know if I could split the column in half. I want say from 1970-1990 in the first column. The second column will have the checkboxes for the first. I want the third column to have 1991-present day and the fourth column to have the checkboxes for the third column. Can the grid view do this or is this something I have to do in oracle and have the gridview just display it?
ex.
1970 chk 1991 chk
1971 chk 1992 chk
1972 chk 1993 chk
1973 chk 1994 chk

have a GridView with two columns: Part Number | Part Details
When I search for the part number 12345, the gridview will display like this
PartNumber | PartDetails
12345 | image1 (image1 will see as document picture)
If I search Part Number and doesn't get any data results in gridview the information will be:
PartNumber | PartDetails
0 | image2 (image2 will see as red cross picture)
How to change the image2 in the same column cell 1 in the GridView when the data results are "0" ?

in my application i have to sort the gridview columns. here i set the showheader property of gridview to false.
i have link buttons on the top of the corresponding gridview columns.
here i had bind the DataField to the link button as

I have a GridView with bound columns, for which I am manually setting the ItemWidth and HeaderWidth to 500px, and nothing happens. Is there some trick to getting this to work?
This is a column a large amount of text in it, and it keeps sizing to the width of the header text, which is simply "note". I don't want to set Wrap to false, becuase then the colummn could be thousands of px wide in cases.

i need to add a hyperlink to each gridview cell and when that cell is clicked pass the header text through the querystring to another page. I can access the cells value ok and pass that through but i cannot seem to access the cells column header text. when i response.write out a count of the gridview.columns it brings back 2 which is the template fields but not the dynamic fields i have tried this on the rowdatbound, rowcreated, page_load and page_unload. the count should be 12 its like it cannot find the dynamic columns at all. ?

I have a couple of things that are not working with my Gridview:
1) I've managed to display 3 columns in one column (see code above) but the data is separated by commas, how can I display each data item in separate rows.
2) How can I make the data unique, as I have added the distinct command which I configured in my SQL data source
3) I need the rows to not display nulls, but at the moment it isn't displaying the row if one of the columns is null?

I have a datagrid with two columns ( File Name, and Date Created ). I want them to be sorted when clicked (ASC or DESC). I went into the design view and added the allow sorting feature and added the column names, so they are clickable in the header of the data grid. I also already added the onsortcommand as well.
My datagrid is named dgFileList and the onsortcommand method is named dgFileList_SortCommand.
The procedure that is already loading on page load is a DataSet. (where I think my problem is)I dont have anything in the back end beside the dgFileList_Sortcommand method. From what I have read, it seems like I can't use a DataSet to be sorted...I'm using visual studios 2005, C#, not VB.

Scenario:
I am creating a custom gridview control which has a custom CheckBoxTemplateField column (deriving from TemplateField class). This template field column has custom Checkboxheadertemplate (implementing ITemplate) and CheckboxItemTemplate (also implementing ITemplate). In InstantiateIn method of both templates (header as well as Item template), I am adding a checkbox control which has Autopostback = true.
My requirement is:
I want to mark all the values in the binding column of datasource if checkbox in headertemplate is checked. I dont want to mark only rows visible on grid. I WANT TO MARK ALL ROWS IN DATASOURCE. I want to do this in _CheckedChanged event of checkbox in header template.
Problem I am facing: When I check/uncheck the checkbox in header, it postbacks. so in OnCheckedChanged event, gridview's datasource is null. Secondly, in any event of gridview, I could access only those rows of datasource for which corresponding rows are visible in gridview through Gridviewrow.DataItem property. But I want to set it for all rows in datasource.
