Forms Data Controls :: Delete Imagebutton Not Working?
Apr 22, 2010
I've got a gridview with a SQLdatasource in my page which works fine. I used Imagebuttons for editing and deleting rows. After I implemented code (behind with RowDataBound) to make editing via rowselection possible (which workes fine), I also added code for my delete imagebutton to prohibit the detailsview when clicking the deletebutton:
<asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="" SkinID="ImageDelete" runat="server" ID="ImageDelete" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("recordID") %>' OnClientClick="event.cancelBubble=true;return confirm('are you sure you want to delete?');" />
But now when I clcik the deletebutton, nothing is deleted. When I remove event.cancelBubble=true; it works fine.
I have two image buttons inside of templates that are handling delete and select. I have a Select handler and a delete handler. The command name of each image button is set to delete and select. It dosen't work.
If I set them back to regular buttons or text it works perfectly but not as an image button. I need it to work as an image buttton because I have a onclientclick inside of it.
I did a debug and notice it dosen't even fire the delete and select methods....
I have problem with the buttons Edit and Delete in Gridview for very long time and i really need about it. So the when i click edit i get in edit mode and when click update the values in the row i was changing disappear but only in the gridview. When check in the Database nothing happens. The delete button not works at all, i mean when click on it only refresh the table.
See how looks my page:
Now here's my code in aspx:
[Code]....
Now here's my code in cs:
[Code]....
I'm not sure if the statements not working. P.S. the cancel button works fine.
I'm a novice programmer and I have this situation: I have a nested Gridview, and I want to be able to DELETE the records in the nested Gridview. I have no problem inserting new records with the nested gridview, but it does not execute the DELETE Command on the SQL Datasource. I checked that the DATAKEYNAME on the nested gridview includes the the parameter that is used in the DELETE SQL Command on the SQL Datasource for that Gridview. But it seems to me that the parameter value is not being passed to the SQL Datasource by the nested gridview. Maybe I need to use a difference approach to execute this on a nested gridview compared to a regular gridview.
I have a multiview, with constant back and next imagebuttons, that are positioned and characterized by an external css style sheet. One of my views however are of different widths from the others so this view needs to have the buttons positioned accordingly. I am trying to do this in my pagebehind VB.NET code with Visual Studio 2008 3.5, of assigned similar Imagebutton.CssClass = "~/css/classname" where classname is the name of the class I wish to set dynamically to the buttons.
Public Sub FwdDetermineMultiView() If mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 0 Then BuildReferralInfo() mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 1 ibtnPersonalInfoBack.Visible = True ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 1 Then BuildContactInfo() mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2 ibtnPersonalInfoBack.CssClass = "~/css/mvPanelNavbtnLeft1245" ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2 Then ICategories.CategoryList = CountChecks(lbCategories) If atLeastOneRowSelected() = True Then ICategories.Category = GetCategoryNames(ICategories.CategoryList) Session("Categories") = ICategories mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 3 Else MsgBox("You must assign at least one category", MsgBoxStyle.Exclamation, Wrn) mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2 End If ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 3 Then Response.Redirect("~/aacess/Referral/ReferralSummary.aspx?") End If End Sub
I know this question has been asked before. But for some reason I can't find the exact answer I need for my problem. My problem is as follows:
I am creating a web page (The one posted is just an easy example) that creates multiple ImageButtons on one page via a loop.I have tried many other ways (for example, create instance in form_load and pass to the WriteHtml() method) but I can't figure out a way to complete this. In this example I have 10 buttons that need to be able to be clicked.
How do I reference the delete button to add the delete confirmation box when I have both the Edit and Delete buttons as the last two columns in the Gridview control. The following code works fine without any issues when I have the delete button only:
protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { if (e.Row.RowType != DataControlRowType.DataRow) return; int lastCellIndex = e.Row.Cells.Count - 1; Button db = (Button)e.Row.Cells[lastCellIndex].Controls[0]; db.OnClientClick = "if (!window.confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this record?')) return false;"; }
But, when I have both the Edit and the Delete buttons, I get the following error when I click the edit button while the delete button works fine.
Specified argument was out of the range of valid values. Parameter name: index
How do I reference the delete button so the edit button is not affected in this case?
Using "Enable Delete" from Gridview control, I can delete (besides, update, sort, paging, etc) data from the database (this is done automatically). However, how can I delete the actual image that resides in my image folder (i.e. from "pix" folder )? What is the best way to delete image? If using code behind, how? Please write a full code for me. Here is my source code.
I have a grid contol that allows delete what I would like to have is someway to say Are you sure you want to delete?I found this code online, and tried it but it did not work, Do I need something more some behind code maybe? Here is what I found online:Adding 'Delete Protection' to controls If you use a control set up to allow Delete, the Delete button gives a straight delete without any warning, which can be dangerous. To give a warning dialog box, add an OnClientClick event to the Delete button, as follows.
<asp:LinkButton ID="DeleteButton" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandName="Delete" OnClientClick="return confirm('Are you sure you want to delete this record?');" Text="Delete"> </asp:LinkButton>
Here is my code: You can see where I added the code from above.
An error occurred during the processing of . System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlFieldCollection must have items of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.DataControlField'. 'SharePoint:DeleteItemButton' is of type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls.DeleteItemButton'.
I created a ListView and attempted to delete a record using the delete button and native procedures. It failed and threw an error.Pass in a valid dictionary for delete or change your mode to OverwriteChangesIn researching this issue, it appeared there is a problem with the list view when deleteing and ConflictDetection is set to
Is there a compatibility issue with asp.net imagebutton with mozilla browser. I have set a margin-left for an imagebutton but when I tried to view on mozilla, it does not work?
I need you assistance, Dynamic Delete LinkButton with CommandName=Delete gives me an error: Delete can only be called on a valid data item. nfact I am designing a Complex Grid using .Net 3.5 ListView Control with Scrollbar and Fixed Toolbar: This grid consist of 3 Tables:
1- footer 2- Toolbar Control 3- Scrolling Data Grid with Header
ListView give us only one ItemPlaceHolder to Bind Data as per LayoutTemplate, so I cannot able to manupulate my Toolbar Controls with ItemTemplate :(, therefore I decide to use ItemDataBound to add ImageButtons Dynamically using Init Page Event and I am able to get the result as you saw above:
ImageButton with funnel icon is with CommandName="Filter" ImageButton with magnifier icon is with CommandName="View" ImageButton with stop icon is with CommandName="Delete"
Now I can able to handle Filter and View with OnItemCommand Event but when I click Delete button I am getting an error as shown below: The grid used CSS I am sending you the HTML and code behind to resolved this problem: HTML CODE:
In one of my Web Page, there is one Modal Pop up, in which I am using Gridview Edit, Update, CancelEdit, Delete functionality.Main functionality is : If while deleting any of the Gridview Row, if only 1 row remains in Gridview (that row can be any row), then that row should not get deleted.Rest of Edit, Update, CancelEdit functionally is working fine.
problem is: When any last row is left in Gridview, its Delete button is disables that time (as per requirement and functionality). But when user clicks on Gridview "Edit" button, update section opens, and at that time "Delete" button gets Enabled, so that time user can delete the last row of Gridview which should not be done.I had fixed this problem for "Cancel" and "Update" button of Gridview using below line:
Response.Redirect(Request.Url.AbsoluteUri); but unable to fix it for "Edit" button of Gridview. If Last row is left in Gridview , and user clicks on Gridview "Edit" button of that row, then at that time "Delete" button should not get "enabled" it should remain "disabled"
I have the following ImageButton which is a shopping cart I try to pass as parameter the product code when you click PostBackUrl.

It appears to me the following error when I click:System.Web.HttpException: A Potentially Dangerous Was Request.Path value detected from the client (&).Try not to validate the request: ValidateRequest = "false" but did not workYou know I could do to solve this problem?
I have a new issue, which i want to share. When working with ASP.NET 1.1 Framework there is an imagebutton on click of that imagebutton client side validations are fired since it is an online application form cline side validations are must i am using a javascript when user submitting the application form
for confirm messege .
but it is not working ... if i do the causevalidation="False" for the imagebutton it is working but the validation are bypassed.
I am using VS 2008 SP1. My also have included CSS Friendly adapter [URL] in my project ( I mentioned this because my GridView Empty data template is not showing when using GridView's CCS Friendly adapter). I have a GridView and a DetailsView. When a record in GridView is selected its details information is shown in the Details View. Type of Data source I am using is ObjectDataSource. My Insert and Update methods works perfectly. It is only the Delete method that is passing null values to the underlying object delete method. My source codes for both the UI, BLL, DAL is shown below
For a given MS SQL Database table of staff members, I'm using ASP to display each record line by line as follows:
So I've added 2 ImageButtons in an extra column and the problem I have is passing the record id as a CommandArgument to redirect to a secure page where the record can be edited or deleted.
Here's some code:

When I click on the 'Delete' ImageButton the URL in the Response.Redirect becomes:
I have a gridview containing a template field. The templated field is an image button. In code behind (page load event) I want to get the imageurl from the first imagebutton in my grid.
I have a UserControl with a ModalPopupExtender that shows a Panel with a GridView. I use this UserControl inside an UpdatePanel. The issue is that I'm using a LinkButton in a TemplateField of the grid that sends a Command and it is working well. If I replace the LinkButton with an ImageButton, the AJAX call raises an error 500 (and I don't know how to debug it). As I understand, the ImageButton will send the same CommandName to the same OnRowCommand handler as the Linkbutton.
I am interested in building an intranet document management system to be used from Internet Explorer using ASP.net, VB.net, and MS SQL Server but have no experience in doing a project like this. Supported file types would be txt, pdf (from scanner or imported from file system), or jpg. What concepts I should look at researching/learning about to build the system in a way that files will be stored as small as possible, retrieved and displayed quickly, and secured. The users would be spread out over a regional area covering 4 states.
