Web Forms :: Imagebutton.CssClass In VB.NET Not Working
Feb 3, 2010
I have a multiview, with constant back and next imagebuttons, that are positioned and characterized by an external css style sheet. One of my views however are of different widths from the others so this view needs to have the buttons positioned accordingly. I am trying to do this in my pagebehind VB.NET code with Visual Studio 2008 3.5, of assigned similar Imagebutton.CssClass = "~/css/classname" where classname is the name of the class I wish to set dynamically to the buttons.
Public Sub FwdDetermineMultiView()
If mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 0 Then
BuildReferralInfo()
mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 1
ibtnPersonalInfoBack.Visible = True
ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 1 Then
BuildContactInfo()
mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2
ibtnPersonalInfoBack.CssClass = "~/css/mvPanelNavbtnLeft1245"
ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2 Then
ICategories.CategoryList = CountChecks(lbCategories)
If atLeastOneRowSelected() = True Then
ICategories.Category = GetCategoryNames(ICategories.CategoryList)
Session("Categories") = ICategories
mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 3
Else
MsgBox("You must assign at least one category", MsgBoxStyle.Exclamation, Wrn)
mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 2
End If
ElseIf mvAddReferral.ActiveViewIndex = 3 Then
Response.Redirect("~/aacess/Referral/ReferralSummary.aspx?")
End If
End Sub

I know this question has been asked before. But for some reason I can't find the exact answer I need for my problem. My problem is as follows:
I am creating a web page (The one posted is just an easy example) that creates multiple ImageButtons on one page via a loop.I have tried many other ways (for example, create instance in form_load and pass to the WriteHtml() method) but I can't figure out a way to complete this. In this example I have 10 buttons that need to be able to be clicked.
The code is as follows:

I've got a gridview with a SQLdatasource in my page which works fine. I used Imagebuttons for editing and deleting rows. After I implemented code (behind with RowDataBound) to make editing via rowselection possible (which workes fine), I also added code for my delete imagebutton to prohibit the detailsview when clicking the deletebutton:
<asp:ImageButton ImageUrl="" SkinID="ImageDelete" runat="server" ID="ImageDelete" CommandName="Delete" CommandArgument='<%# Eval("recordID") %>' OnClientClick="event.cancelBubble=true;return confirm('are you sure you want to delete?');" />
But now when I clcik the deletebutton, nothing is deleted. When I remove event.cancelBubble=true; it works fine.

I have two image buttons inside of templates that are handling delete and select. I have a Select handler and a delete handler. The command name of each image button is set to delete and select. It dosen't work.
If I set them back to regular buttons or text it works perfectly but not as an image button. I need it to work as an image buttton because I have a onclientclick inside of it.
I did a debug and notice it dosen't even fire the delete and select methods....

I have a UserControl with a ModalPopupExtender that shows a Panel with a GridView. I use this UserControl inside an UpdatePanel.The issue is that I'm using a LinkButton in a TemplateField of the grid that sends a Command and it is working well. If I replace the LinkButton with an ImageButton, the AJAX call raises an error 500 (and I don't know how to debug it). As I understand, the ImageButton will send the same CommandName to the same OnRowCommand handler as the Linkbutton.

I have a SiteMap navigation using an asp:repeater control databound to a SiteMapDataSource. The repeater contains an asp:hyperlink for each node, and the CssClass is explicitly defined:
[Code]....
How would I cause the item that corresponds to the current node on the sitemap tree to have a different CssClass? I've had a few unsuccessful attempts (stab in the dark in all honesty) using the ItemDataBound event handler and inline code.

I include the global style sheet file on the master page's 'head' section, but the child pages show an underline on the class parameters I put on the HTML elements (and they show as 'warnings' in the error list). It still works and the styles do get applied, but how do I tell the pages that their master page has the style definition? (and I don't really want to add the global CSS file to every child page, that should be one of the perks of the Master pages)

Is it posible to add events for:
OnMouseOver, OmMouseleave, Focused to a panel and change the CssClass of that panel when the event occors?
I've tired with: (The Stylesheet is linked to the page)
btnPanel.Attributes.Add("OnMouseOver", "CssClass=ButtonMouseOver");
btnPanel.Attributes.Add("onMouseOut", "CssClass=ButtonNormal");
btnPanel.Attributes.Add("gotFocus", "CssClass=ButtonFocused");
But it seams that the panel dosent catch thease events.

I have a GridView where some of the BoundFields have a CssClass applied:
<asp:BoundField ... ItemStyle-CssClass="foobar">
In the rendered HTML it looks like <td class="foobar">
But when I try to read the CssClass programatically in an event like RowCreated or CheckboxChanged or PageLoad it returns nothing:
For Each row As GridViewRow In gv.Rows()
For Each cell As TableCell In row.Cells()
ltlMsg.Text += cell.CssClass
Next
Next
(gv is my GridView and ltlMsg is just a Literal for displaying the results)
If I replace cell.CssClass with cell.Text it does display results, so the code is running.
If I change it to cell.CssClass="test" it does set the class of the <td> elements. It just can't seem to read them.
I must have missed something obvious - I've tried putting it in various different events but nothing seems to work. I assume the CssClass must get set at a later point in the event cycle than I have tried. Can anyone recommend a link to documentation that shows the order in which all the events fire?
Eventually I want to use this to show or hide certain columns in the GridView based on whether a CheckBox (outside the GridView) is checked or not.

Using VWD 2010 Express.
I tried to put a ListView onto a webform but got an error right after that:
Error Creating Control - ListView1
The 'CssClass' property cannot be set declaratively.
BTW, does ListView support horizontal/vertical scroll bar? As I might have about 50 records in maximum, so need to have horizontal and vertical scroll bars. But do not need paging.

I know that people have had some trouble with undefined CssClass values when using partial classes in ASP.NET MVC. My project is not MVC, however, and I am including a .css file that is in the root folder of my project, yet a referenced class value still results in a warning in VS 2008.
In my .aspx file:
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" >
<head runat="server">
<!-- ... -->
<link media="all" href="~MyStyles.css" type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" />
</head>
<body id="bodyTag" vlink="#666666" alink="#666666" link="#666666" bgcolor="#ffffff" leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" runat="server">
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript" src="~ScriptsSomecript_v1.js"></script>
<!-- form, table ... -->
<asp:TableRow>
<asp:TableCell ColumnSpan="4" CssClass="cellclass">
Then, in the same folder as the .aspx, in "MyStyles.css", I have defined:
.cellclass
{
border-right: #aeaeae 1px solid;
border-top: #aeaeae 1px solid;
font-weight: normal;
font-size: 11px;
/* etc. */
Yet I get the warning, "The class or CssClass value is not defined".

I just want to position the first label in a position on the left and then the start position of the second label at a position. I can't use relative because of the different lengths of the strings. But I the absolute will not work. I tried putting position relative in the cssclass phoneCostsStyle but it doesn't work.
