Forms Data Controls :: Exposing Commandfield Properies In A Gridview?
Jan 19, 2010
how can expose the Commandfield properies in a gridview so I change them programatically? for example, I want change the commandfield property showdeletebutton so it does not show on all rows in the gridview?
(1) in a gridview there is the CommandField where you can use 'select' which simply highlights a row in the grid data. upon clicking this, can i use javascript to show a pop up message?
(2) upon clicking the CommandField 'select' can i retrieve the row id? if not then if i convert one of my column (type bit) and convert to checkbox, upon checking the checkbox, can i retrieve the row id?
I'm using a GridView hooked up to an AccessDataSource holding details of books. The GridView has a CommandField which I want to act as a link to another page (called "showBook.aspx"). This page will have a DetailsView which I want to use to show the details of the selected book. I want this page to open in a new window.
Now my problem is here is CommandField is creating at first column (at 0 index). Now I want move this last column. How can I do this? I dont want show this CommandField only at last column only.
I'm trying to write and application where some fields of a database table are viewed via "GridView". one of the columns of the gridview is a "Commandfield" which contains a "SelectButton". When the buttons is clicked a new window is supposed to open and show more fields of that entry via "DetailsView".
I have a CommandField with an edit button. I want to be able to use an image for the edit, but text for the update and delete buttons. I can't figure out how to use both. Here is the CommandField:
I am trying to make a user-friendly interface of web page. I want to add images instead of Button to CommandFiend. I think it would be more friendly if show text when the mouse over the image....
I found ways to add a delete confirmation box with a delete buttons, however, I'm using a delete command field to delete my rows, Is there a way to add a delete confirmation within the GridView_RowDeleting method, or should I just use a regular button in a templateField?
I have a gridview that has the following commandfields enabled:
[Code]....
Im working on custom security for the pages and on this page / gridview i need to be able to display the field based on permissions.
can edit a record, but not delete and so on.. So would i need to convert them into template fields? or can i manage that as its configured now?
And this would be a all or nothing.. so if you dont have permissions, the commandfield is not shown for ANY records in the gridiview. I have had in the past where certain links would be available for certain records and so on.. but not this time..
I am working on to create a custom control inherited by CheckboxList control. We can add items from ListItem collection editior at the design time. In this ListItem Collection editor there are 4 properties 1) Enabled 2) Selected3) Text4) valueI really need to add some new properties such as "ImageURL" and "IsClear".
I have a large .NET based system running within the company intranet, which allows winforms users to see some live calculated numbers and a custom winforms control drawn live (but not real-time). The Forms users can also affect the operation of the system.
I would like to just show the live numbers on a website, along with the custom control. Nothing needs to come back from the web user, as the web app is meant to be just for monitoring. All the numbers can be calculated at the server. It's been a long time since I touched ASP.NET, and I need to know how to proceed. What are the steps in building and deploying such a website? Any caveats I need to look out for?
I have a method in wcf which returns stream of custom object. I need to deserialize this stream at client side, but my custom class which is exposed as data contract is not visible through client proxy. When I add a dummy operation contract which returns the custome object I am able to get this custom class. I dont want to write this dummy method as there are many such custom classes.
Is there any way to expose data contract without writing any operation contract that returns or accepts data contract type object?
I have a list of items on an ASP.net page. That list is selectable in that whenever the user clicks on one, the page does a postback and the server code stores the index or some unique identifier of the picture in a ViewState property indicating that it is currently selected.
I would like to minimize the load on the server and therefore I would like to store the index or unique identifier representing the image in some way on the client side. The best way I can think to do this is to store said information in a hidden field ), however I had two questions about this before I go crazy:
Is this a security risk in any way, shape or form (i.e., exposing implementation details of the page)? Is there a better/best way to do this that is more industry-standard? Does ASP.net provide a framework to do this that is cleaner than my idea? Seems like this would be a fairly common requirement to me...
I've looked around for some tutorials, but everything I see is how to use REST services with my app. But that's not really what I need, I'm not doing basic GET requests, the end user needs to do some complicated calculations with several classes and variables from my web service.
In a Web Forms app, I would just add a Web Services solution and do everything in there. Is that the recommended solution for an MVC app?
Is there any framework or tool to generate web services (WCF) access to all the non transactional tables in my database? something like asp.net dynamic data but with web services, I need to do this for homologation with other systems.
I have a class with about 5-10 methods which all my services (WCF) need to expose. What is the best way to expose all the methods in all the services keeping (DRY principle) in mind?Is interface inheritence a good design principle? e.g. public interface IBMW : ICar
We need to expose some services (i.e. AddressValidatorService, CustomerFinderService) that currently reside in an ASP.NET application to other applications within our organization. Exposing these services via WCF seems like a natural fit, but I don't see any best-practices for how to pull these common services into a WCF wrapper in such a way that my existing ASP.NET application can continue to use them with minimal code changes and/or awareness that the service they are consuming is no longer in-process. I'm especially looking for recommendations on how to structure the existing ASP.NET solution and whether to host our new WCF in the same solution or in some new shared WCF solution referenced by both our ASP.NET application and external callers. Also, is it bad practice to simply promote the DTOs currently only consumed in-process via ASP.NET to full fledged data contracts or is it preferable to create duplicate DTOs that are explicitly decorated with [DataContract]?
I have managed to expose the MEX endpoint of my WCF service and I can access it with the address like [URL] (example) and get the WDSL. So no problem there.
However, my WCF test page shows the address wrongly by using the server's name instead of the DNS name. And if I click on the link on the test page it won't work (can't get WSDL).
The WCF test page looks like this:
MyService Service
You have created a service.
To test this service, you will need to create a client and use it to call the service.
[URL]
The WCF service is hosted in IIS6. I would like to have a test page with the correct WSDL address so users can see the WSDL quickly in the browser just by clicking on the WSDL address.
In short: How can I change the MyServerName to inter.mycompany.com on the WCF test page? Can this be specified somewhere in the Web.config?
