I have a dropdownlist with multi-select which I am using to filter a gridview. My problem is it only uses the first selected item for filter.
If I select one works fine, if I select 2 items the grid is filtered by the first item selected.

In my access datasource, I have set the selectcommand to what the user desires via a DDL. So the user chooses say, all names beginning with "B". But as soon as user clicks to page to the next page, the filter is gone. What is the way to preserve the filter. I have only merely rebound the gridview in the Pageindexchanging event which obviously is not doing the trick. Does this call for a session var to hold the users choice?

View 6 RepliesI am doing a library application. I am using a formview control to display and edit the details of an existing borrower.
What I wish to do is to allow the user to enter the borrower barcode into a textbox and select the details of the borrower corresponding to the barcode.
At present I have kept the textbox and a button outside the formview. Once the user enters the barcode in the texbox and clicks the button, the data is displayed in the formview control.
Now, my doubt is that is there a way to keep the textbox inside the formview control itself and use the value(Which should be user input) for selecting the details?
i could bind the data form tables to dropdownlist in asp .net using linq.
ex:

I have a ListView with Checkbox. My requirement is - When I click on any checkbox then it should return all the columns values of that row on behalf of that CheckBox. After much study I came to know that using DataTable and DataRow I can get all data of particular ID of a Row. But I am unable to work with this. My code is something like below:

I am defininging all my sqldatasource select parameters upfront in the .aspx file. Then based on user filter choices, I modify the Select Command to include those parameters. Works fine, but when I add one of these parameters, the bound grid doesn't pull back any results. No error message is given.
If I remove the ToteID control parameter line below, everything works fine. But with it in, the SQLDataSource.Selecting event doesn't even fire.

I know how to handle the filtering of the grid (create a criteria and set to rowfilter of the dataview) But, I dont know how to get the value of the column of the selected row.
One of our customers has a report with a single value string parameter that has over 1000+ possible values. selecting single value from 1000+ choices results in bad UI, among other things.create another parameter that acts a filter for the other parameter. So you would have Param1 with say 25 choices and selecting a choice would narrow down the option for the second parameter.Is this the best way. What is the best practice for handling these kinds of parameters?

I have a stored procedure that returns 3 tables within the single recordset it returns. If I set a SqlDataSource to get data from this procedure, it works, but it only returns the first table. I want to have a GridView display the data from the 2nd or 3rd table using a SqlDataSource, but I can't figure out how to specify a particular table.
While there are some posts discussing this out there, I can't get a definitive answer about whether or not this is even possible (?). In a worst-case scenario, I can create another SP that only returns the 3rd table - but that creates a little maintenance headache that I would prefer to avoid.
I've got a gridview which works fine. I use dropdownlists which are filled with distinct values of the columns. So when I select an item in a drompdownlist the gridview refreshes based on the selected value. When I have a column which uses string values, I can start the filter with a default % value to use in my select paramaters. But when I have a date column, I can't use that. I use a datasource for the gridview and I prefer to leave codebehind out if this is not needed. Now I use >= in my gridview select to show all rows. but I want to use only = to make the filter work correct when I select a date in the ddl and use the selectedvalue in the gridview selectCommand
