Forms Data Controls :: Handle GridView Row Deleting In Code Behind?

Feb 1, 2011

I modified a GridView control to enable alphabetical paging, and in doing so had to bind the GridView manually in the code behind rather than using the ObjectDataSource I had used originally.

Now my "delete" command in the GridView isn't working. I get that I need to handle this in the code behind now that I'm no longer bound to the ObjectDataSource.

But I'm not sure how to do that in C# and am not finding any examples.

Here's my .aspx:

Forms Data Controls :: Finding Best Way To Handle This Scenario - Select Gridview Row And Show Related Info Below?

Dec 12, 2010

almost typical master-detail scenario except the 'detail' data I want to display below the gridview will be coming from both the table that is bound to the gridview (master) and a related table.

simplified example: tableMain with field1, field2, field3 bound to master gridview. I need to select a row from the master gridview and have a form display below with field4 and field5 from tableMain, as well as all fields of tableDetail where field1 of tableMain equals field1 of tableDetail.

Is this what a 'formview' control is for? or do I just arrange my own controls to accommodate the data? Would a formview work considering my source will be partially from both the main table and the detail table? This is one of the scenarios were I know I could come up with something using none of the databound controls (except the master gridview), but I want to use the controls provided when it makes sense to do so, and utilize their benefits etc...

Forms Data Controls :: Retain View State In GridView Footer?

Nov 2, 2010

I have created a customized GridView Control.

I have created a property called as IsEntryGrid. Which is boolean. If it is true then it is assumed that it will be a grid where dataentry is possible from footer controls. Controls in footer are created dynamically. My problem is that when i m pressing ok image button control state is not maintained.

eg. In my footer say there is a text box for field OrganicationCode. I enter Org Code as M01 and if i press enter, i m not getting that back in my page event..

my code to create grid footer....

Forms Data Controls :: View State And GridView With Template Column

Mar 2, 2011

I have a GridView that isn't databound until the user clicks a button...

[Code]....

The GridView has one bound column: the employee name. It also has a template field that has an empty asp:Table.

[Code]....

I populate the tblInfo in the RowDataBound event.

[Code]....

The CreateInfoTable(...) method manually creates the rows and columns for the employee. This works, and I can see my dynamically created table; however, after the user submits the form back to the server for PostBack, the rendered page after submission is missing my manually populated table. How can I save my table across PostBacks?

Forms Data Controls :: Restoring Gridview State After Going To A DetailsView To Edit?

Dec 15, 2010

I have a Gridview that is filtered by a DropDownList.

A sales rep can select all prospects or filter on the first letter of the company name.

They can also sort the complete list or filtered by sales rep name.

There are several reps in the list

It was requested that once the list is filtered by the first letter of the name

and sorted by the sales rep, that once they select a customer to edit in the DetailslView, and that

edit is completed by closing the detailsview, they return to the same sorted list. they return

to the same filtered list but the sort is back to the default which is the company name.

Here's what is in the code behind file.

protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)

Forms Data Controls :: Saving Radiobutton "state" On Manually Data Sourced GridView?

Aug 3, 2010

I want to use a radio button selection on a GridView. I can get this working with a regular DS. However, my table is manually DS'd. When the page frame holding the GridView is loaded, I trigger that event to fire off the subroutine that loads a DataTable and adds the DataTable to the DataSource of the Gridview.

The Gridview has a radio button in the first column as the "SELECTED ROW" appearance. Whenever I run the onchange event code for the radio button, I try and fix the radio buttons so only one row is selected with the following code:

[Code]....

This code works fine with the gridview if its got a built in SQLLDataSource. However, with my manual assigning of DataSourcing to the Gridview on Frame Load, I believe the gridview is being reinitialized everytime and I'm loosing the state of the radio button. I don't believe I can use the IsPostBack() because sometimes this frame and gridview will be showing sometimes it won't and yet other times it will need to be "recreated" with new data dynamically within the page. However, I tried to use PostBack and it looks like its working until I try and do a sort...than that crashes.

[Code]....

When I click on Sort, it crashes here

If (mydata.Rows.Count <> 0) Then

(its complaining about it being "null")

[Code]....
