Forms Data Controls :: Have To Accpted Data From User In A Gridview Like Control?
Apr 19, 2010
I have requirement that i have to accpted data from user in a gridview like control. That its row column heder contatin calender date and row header contain specfic taske ,one have to drag and drop user coreponding date to specfic taskfor eg: column header contatins dates like 1/04/20010 to 30/04/2010and row header contain specific task.one user drag and drop sepcfic entity correspond to sefic date and specific controlI have gone through site to find this type of control allow drag and drop and customize column and row header.
I would like to use the gridview paging feature and have built a gridview with a user control. The data source has lots of columns, so to make it easier I want to return a LIST<MyObject> and just pass <Myobject> into the user control rather than all the data elements. Not sure how I access the object of the data source to bind to the control. Assume it would be during ondatarowbound.
Also, my guess is there is a better way to do this than gridview. I'd take either solution that allows me to have easy paging and pass the complete object into the user control
I have created a gridview (this is a usercontrol) with another gridview (also a usercontrol) inside it. Now I would like to bind a checkboxlist to the inner gridview. This is my markup for the inner gridview user control
I binded user control in gridview dynamically using templatefield (through code behind)
User control consists of 2 textboxes and one dropdown.
There is one button outside the gridview on the form. On click of that button i have to save the values of usercontrol's (child controls i.e textbox and dropdown values) but i am not able to get the values of user controls.
I am able to get User Control using LoadControl and child controls using FindControl but not able get values i am getting textbox values as blank and dropdown value as 0th selected index even though there is value entered by the user.
I have a user control called ucTriStateButton. It raises an event when it is clicked, called TriStateButtonClicked. If I put this user control on a page, it works fine. Here is the declaration on the .aspx page:
When the button is clicked the method tsbTest_TriStateButtonClicked executes correctly.
The problem is when I put the user control in template field of a GridView.
There is no way to hook the event handler to the control in Page_Load because I cannot get a reference to tsbMorning. So I did it in the RowDataBound event handler of the GridView, where I also do a bunch of other row-specific stuff. Although this builds and runs, the event is never actually subscribed to and so never gets fired.
So the question is - how can I handle an event from many instances of the same user control within a GridView? I am calling the same bit of code regardless of which user control is actually clicked. I only need to know that one was clicked.
I have a page with lots of panels on it. Some of the panels are user controls and some are just on the page. I have a form on the page where you can add users and a gridview which is a user control showing a list of users. When a new user is added on the form I want to do gridview.databind() for the gridview in the user control. Does anyone know how to do this?
I am in need of some assistance in regards to how to best set the values of properties for a Web User Control which is being included into a cell of a GridView with dynamically created columns. I have tried a few different approaches, but can't seem to get a satisfactory result. Also, to be completely honest, I am not really sure if I am using best practices for what I am trying to accomplish.
First off a little background:I have a GridView for which we will never know the exact number of columns at run time. The columns are predicated by user selection. I am creating the command text for the DataSet on the fly and then looping through the columns of the resulting DataTable in order to use custom TemplateFields. This works ok for just printing out the row values but not so much for when I need to insert the Web User Control into a cell. The Web User Control is in essence a collection of image links which are used as a "Quick Nav" tool. I need to pass the values of 2 fields from each DataRow to the control via properties (for example, CustID and ProductID). I am using custom TemplateField classes inheriting from ITemplate for displaying my fields and extending the DataBinding event like so: [Code]....
This won't work for my User Control as DataBinding is called after the control is loaded into the page and I need the properties to be set before the Page_Load event of the control is fired. Is there a GridView event I should be looking into instead such as RowCreated or RowDataBound? Or should I modify how I loop through the DataTable by doing rows first, then the resulting columns as I've seen done elsewhere?
I have a user controlThe user selects some items from user control (check box list)User clicks update button on user control The new rows get updated on a gridview on calling page & user control is hidden
a)I have made the user control but I dont know how to return the results and bind them with gridview on my calling page.
b) Update: If I create the update button outside the user control and on my calling page and then on its button click event Isomehow access user control checkbox list selected items would that be a good approach ? And how to do this stuff ?
I'm customizing a NopCommerce store, and am using a gridview to display and sort the products. All that works well. I like how the external pager (user control) works with the gridview, with one exception -- it uses the hyperlink control, so I lost viewstate, which I need to retain for both the search page and to retain the gridview sort options. Based on the page selected (from the pager control), I query the database and rebind the gridview. So, I switched the user control to use LinkButtons instead of Hyperlinks. This is the sample code for one of the buttons:
I set a breakpoint inside the lbCommandClick method, but it never gets hit. Reading other posts tells me that I would have to add the dynamic controls in the OnLoad method, but since this all happens based on other data on the page (say search results), I don't think I can do it onLoad. However, the link buttons do work to cause a postback, and my viewstate is saved correctly. The only problem is that I do not know which button was clicked. I could check Request.Params["__EVENTTARGET"] onLoad, but that is kind of a hack -- I'd much rather be able to set the event handler in the user control and use the CommandArgument property. But, what I have tried so far fails.
Especially one that would allow me to set the EventHandler in the User Control? (e.g. OnlbCommand="PagerLBPageChange" )
I have create one user control of personal details, and write the geting data from database method and Load the entities in respective field, then how to bind user control in gridview and how to accecc Id of user control in aspx page.
I have the follow code (i just listed the parts that might be the more important to understand my problem):
[Code].... (Page .ascx) [Code]....
The user control RatingControl shows the rating and the number of rates, the user control Pager is responsible for raising CurrentPageChanged when the page changes and BindData() is a function that binds data to the Datalist control.
When the page is loaded for the first time BindData() marked with ** is executed , thereafter i only want to load data when the event CurrenPageChanged raises.
So far so good, but the problem is when the CurrentPageChanged is raised and call the BindData() function, the user controls are not loaded properly, and things that i can't understand happen, like the user controls not receiving the properties initialized when they are loaded, but the other controls inside the Datalist like lblDescription are loaded correctly with their data.
Summarizing, the user controls are not loaded correctly in this particular case when the DataBind() is called by an event.
I already searched in the internet, and i read about page life cycle, user controls and i still didn't understand why this happens and how to fix it.
In my scenerio, i've a dropdownlistbox by which i want to filter, a textbox for the text to filter and two textbox for specifying from and to date.
A gridview control for displaying the filtered data and a sqldatasource control and a commandbutton called search.
The following code is used to filter the data in database and it works properly. But when i click on edit in gridview, the gridview displays no records and again when i click on search button the data is displayed on the gridview displayed with the selected row in editmode.
I have a web form, and an "add vendor" button. Click the button, a modal dialog pops up (ajax:ModalPopupExtender). User selects one of two radio buttons which shows a data bound asp:View in an update panel - this view is data bound to a single row and must be populated by the user. However I also want to provide a cancel button which should close the modal dialog and reset the bound view.
However what is happening is that the ModalExtender closes, but when the "add vendor" button is presented again, it's still bound to the same data. Do I need to clear my data source? How so I reset the forms/views so that when the 'add vendor' button is clicked again the form is presented as it should be (IE the 2 select options, picking one re-binds the asp:View)?
I am working with Asp.net 2.0, C# and Sqlserver 2005. I have a web page with gridview and Button. On button click, I should be able to export the gridview to a excel file and open that file as an attachment to a user's default mail client. I tried with the below options but didnot succeed.
1. mailto : I tried with this option but not able to open the mail client with attachment.
2. Outlook interop : Using Outlook COM reference, I can able to open excel file as on attachment to default mail client, but this is working fine on local system but not on the production server. I am not sure whether I can implement this kind of functionality using web application as some people say this is a security issue.
I have one parent gridview where each record will link to its details page (another child gridview in modal popup). May I know how do I store the values of the child gridview temporary (maybe in session) and repopulate the data into the parent gridview? Current problem is: once I click save in the child modalpop gridview, it binds the parent gridview before the child gridview data is stored in session. I want to store the data temporary until user click save in the parent gridview.
User control can not be added in to toolbox,Unless or until it is changed into custom control.(VS 2005.) Once i have changed user control into custom controls(Composite Controls,WebControls,Controls) then i can add it into tool box. These statement are correct?. or is there any possibility to add usercontrol in toolbox?
I have a calendar control where a user selects a date and then inputs info into a FormView control. Underneath the FormView is a GridView that shows all data from the SelectedDate on the calendar control. However, when the date is selected, all the information from the table ( from all dates ) is displayed.
I am new to this forum as well as Visual Studio and asp.
I am connecting to an access db using Visual Studio Express 2010.
I have a dropdownlistbox that pulls names from a database. When I select a name Gridview1 gets populated. Now I want to populate Gridview2 with more data when I click 'Select' link in Gridview1 but it's not working.
I am passing name (string) and number (number) fields to the gridview2 based on the gridview1.selectedvalue property and am seeing:
ASP.NET 2.0 application exports GridView data to Excel2003 as shown below, but then needs to be able to access the Excel instance; to add a title row, auto-fit column widths, rename the worksheet, etc. Can anyone explain/show how to reference the Excel instance programmatically?
a simple way to filter SQL data when it is retrieved by a GridView control?
Among the various applications I need to create are selecting records based on user inputed criteria (via a DropDownList), and excluding records that have null values (which I need to allow in my database) in certain columns.
