i have gridview resulted from sql query as below:

then i pivot the gridview by using the datatable.. i call the sql query to the datatable, pivot it using pivoted function and the datatable then become the datasource bind to the gridview..the result of pivoted datatable in gridview as below:

(empty)

(empty)
(empty)
my question is..how can i replace the empty column with textbox to be display within the gridview??? i need to use textbox so that user may enter the value of the item within the textbox.. i try using the itemtemplate for gridview but it's doesn't work and the itemtemplate create new column with textbox beside the paper column.. how to input textbox within the datatable in my case??

I have created an ObjectDatasource on my page bound to my Gridview using a Dataset from my linked SQL tables (PKs, FKs,etc...).
I am showing all my USERS table data in my Gridview but there are some columns which are ID's being displayed such as MembershipID, UserTypeID. These ID's are my foreign keys to other SQL tables.
I have easily been able to go into my EditTemplate for these columns, attach a new ObjectDataSource as a Lookup table, add a new DropDownList in place of the TextBox and then set Two-way binding so that the MembershipName & UserTypeName's are displayed for editing.
However, I cannot seem to work out how to do this Binding to the other ObjectDataSources in the ItemTemplate Label. Again i can make it work witha DDL, but i don't want any selections when just displaying the data in the Grid. I simply want the name to be shown in a label, but cannot work out the binding lookup?
What I have is a GridView with a DropDownList in an ItemTemplate (not an EditItemTemplate). My datasource is not a control, rather in the code-behind.

My main problem is that VS is not seeing that I have the dropdownlist, meaning I can not access any of the events in the code-behind. What I want to do is, when the value of the DropDownList is changed (SelectedIndexChanged), I want to grab the value of the RowIndex of the GridView.

I have one big DataTable with X rows. I want to select Y rows from it and bind them to a new ViewList. While doing it, I want to delete these rows from the DataTable (Having X - Y rows).
What is the best and fast way to do it?
I don't know if it is better to create a new DataTable to have the Y and after that bind them to a ViewList or something else?
I'm also looking for example in code how to select/delete rows from DataTable.
I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have a template field which has four itemtemplates that each hold a label in a gridview. These labels are always constant with the same strings. What I want to do is change the css formatting of these four labels depending on the value of a column. So the css formatting would have to be done for each row, not the whole column. I bind the gridview to a dataaccesslayer so there is no sqldatasource on the page. Does anyone have any idea how to do this and where it would be done. I will have the dataview with the data sorted in the correct order. The actual column that is used to alter the CSS will not be in the gridview although I could assign it to the datakeyname if that makes it easier as the data is not sensitive.
View 1 RepliesI'm having difficulty adding a repeating header row, every x rows, to a gridview. I'm able to add the header only once with the below code. For some reason it will only add it during the last iteration through the for/next statement. I tried manually adding three separate .addat statements to different rows and it only executed the last .addat statement. I couldn't find any information on why it's only working the one time and I hope someone has a fix or better solution.

I have a grid view with column as qty , rate ,...I need the total qty in the footer row and total rate in footer row ...

One of my apps is to document aircraft inspection at mil sites. The discrepancy report for any one tail number can be many pages long. The description of the discrepancy in a gridview cell can be several lines. Therefore when the gridview hits the bottom of the physical page, the print spooler frequently splits the gridview row leaving part on one page and the rest at the top of the following page. I have done my due-diligence in research before posting but maybe I'm using the wrong words. I found something on CodeProject but it is too complicated for me. Does anyone have a simple solution? I use C# and am not very sharp with Java script.

I'm resolved to avoid using tables for this type of thing, and while I found a good reference to laying out a data entry form, I can find nothing that applies to multiple-column layouts like this one:

I have a page with a TextBox, a Button, a GridView, and a SqlDataSource. I click the Button to execute the SQL in the TextBox using the SqlDataSource. The SqlDataSource populates the GridView. Everything works as expected until I click a column heading to sort.
When I click a column heading, the GridView disappears and I have to click the Button to display the grid again. When I do, the grid is displayed in the order of the column I clicked.
I don't understand why the GridView is disappearing when I click a column header.
Does anyone know how to fix this so the GridView is sorted and displayed only by clicking the column header?

I have a merged column of firstname and lastname by "Select firstname + lastname from table" but when it appears in the gridview the header text of the column is "Expr1000". How can I change the header text of that merged column?, and I want to change its text into "NAME".
