I need to change ReadOnly from false to true for one column in GridView depending on who the user is. In my particular case it is a BoundField (also I would like to know how to do it for a Template field as well) and DataField is "dteRequired". I would like to code something like that right in the Page_Load handler:
I have a problem specific to the gridview control, i am using the datasource to generate an update method for the data in my table.
Some of my columns are display only fields so i have set them to "read only = true" Everything seems fine when the page loads but when i click update, the columns that were editable update fine but the ones set to read only have now updated the databasewith a null value. Am i missing something here?
I have some custom Code to handle the Insert And Edit Mode on the OnRowCommand="CheckTheData" property of the GridViewThe Grid Starts in the "Readonly" mode, click on the edit button and it goed into edit mode for that row My routine ends with:The update is done and the display refreshes, but in the edit mode. If I click the clancel button back to read only mode.How can I get the gridview to redisplay in the read Only mode after the update?
In my asp.net application, users are allowed to enter values into textboxes only from popup windows, so i have set the textboxes to readonly=true; this works fine for me until the first the record is saved. when the record is retireved from database and user updates these textboxes from popupwindows and tries to save the record, the record is never updated, i know the reason because textboxes with readonly cannot be changed on the clientside.
how to allow users to update the records for the textboxes with readonly property set to true.
I am trying to update values in the GridView but have some issue with the Datetime (which I want to keep Readonly). On updating the GridView, I am getting the following error:
ERROR: "System.FormatException: Input string was not in a correct format."
I have a gridview on my page. I have a checkbox in each row of this gridview. For each checkbox in the gridview, I'd like to update my table accordingly, but I don't want them to have to hit a submit button every time they check the checkbox. I want them to check all the boxes they need to and at the end, they should hit one submit button.
I have a label control inside of repeater and I can't seem to get FindControl to locate the label inside of the repeater or even the repeater itself. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. OnItemDataBound is firing because "hello1" is being written but if I put anything inside of the For Next loop of rptMarketFundamentals, nothing is run inside of it.
<asp:Repeater id="rptMarketFundmentals" runat="server" DataSourceID="dsMarketFundamentals" OnItemDataBound="rptMarketFundamentals_ItemDataBound"> <asp:Label ID="lblOwnershipCategory" runat="server" Text='<%# Eval("OwnershipCategory") %>' /> </asp:Repeater> Sub rptMarketFundamentals_ItemDataBound(ByVal Sender As Object, ByVal e As RepeaterItemEventArgs) Response.Write("hello1") 'this works Dim dataItem As RepeaterItem For Each dataItem In rptMarketFundmentals.Items Response.Write("hello2") 'this does not work Dim lblOwnershipCategory As Label = CType(dataItem.FindControl("lblOwnershipCategory"), Label) If lblOwnershipCategory.Text.ToLower = "family firm" Then blOwnershipCategory.CssClass = "highlight" End If Next End Sub
I need to access a TextBox control inlistview. I have tried the following code behind but I don't retrieve the correct textbox. A snippet of the code is as follows:
Is it possible to allow an administrator to write to a readonly profile property by redefining the profile property in a web.config file used for administrators pages?
I have a unique account number which must be assigned to each new user (using the default asp.net membership provider). After reading a couple of articles it seemed it would just be easier to define it as a profile property instead of creating a custom membership provider. When the user makes changes to their profile on a profile page I create, I want the value to be readonly. When an admin views the profile I actually want them to assign the value to the property in their page.
select distinct tbl.emp_code, b.EmplName, convert(varchar, tbl.punched_date,101) as Punched_date, (select convert(varchar(8),itbl.PUNCHED_TIME, 114)+', ' from Trn_Capture_Data_New itbl where itbl.EMP_CODE=tbl.emp_code and itbl.PUNCHED_DATE=tbl.punched_date and itbl.EMP_CODE='4' and tbl.punched_date >= '03/27/2013' and tbl.punched_date <= '03/28/2013' for xml path('')) Punched_Time
Now i need to Bind it to gridview, the gridview columns should be
Date,IN,OUT,IN,OUT
In punched time the first one should be IN and second OUT. A employee would have punched several time a day. Based on that I should take maximum punches and bring that of columns as IN and OUT in gridvew dynamically. How to achieve this?
there are 2 pages (SummaryGridviewPage.aspx and FormviewPage.aspx) there are insert, item and update templates in the FormviewPage 1st case - there is no problem to insert new record, select and update action in the FormviewPage
2nd case - However, there is problem when i select a record in GV and direct to FormviewPage for edit this code is added in Formviewpage to open the record at readonly mode, no problem
Private Sub RF_Init(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Me.Init If Session("RecordID") <> "" Then ' to check New or Old record SqlDataSourceRF.SelectParameters.Item("New_ID").DefaultValue = Session("RecordID") FormViewProject.ChangeMode(FormViewMode.ReadOnly) End If End Sub
however, no record if go further from readonly to edit mode then Code is added to the Edit button
Protected Sub BtnEdit_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) FormViewProject.ChangeMode(FormViewMode.Edit) SqlDataSourceRF.SelectParameters.Item("New_ID").DefaultValue = Session("RecordID") FormViewProject.DataBind() End Sub
Now edit problem is solved but when go back to the 1st case (new record, and then edit) Now new record can be inserted, and then show it in readonly mode. but then try to go to edit mode, no record show i think BtnEdit_Click code is conflicted with the built-in "Edit" command Could anyone show me some info how formview retrieve specific record in a proper way?
I have a FormView bound to an ObjectDataSource that is bound to a business logic object. The business logic object has a Readonly field called "Id". When I try to update the formview, I get the following error message: The 'Id' property on the type specified by the DataObjectTypeName property in ObjectDataSource 'ObjectDataSourceNewsArticle' is readonly and its value cannot be set. How do I get the ObjectDataSource or the FormView to recognise that the id field is readonly, and to not try to update it?
