Forms Data Controls :: Gridview With Checkbox Update One Time In A Button Click Not Every Time?
Mar 11, 2010
I have a gridview on my page. I have a checkbox in each row of this gridview. For each checkbox in the gridview, I'd like to update my table accordingly, but I don't want them to have to hit a submit button every time they check the checkbox. I want them to check all the boxes they need to and at the end, they should hit one submit button.

Below is my database structure
idnamework
1manojdevelopingcheck box
2munatesting check box
3kanakadatabase check box
Here I want to assign the above database work to my team members. When I check the above check box and press assign button ,it shows in another page means the gridview selected row shows in another grid in another page .
And once i check any check box and assign , automatically the checked row vanished from my grid view.

in a grid view i have a checkbox column ,which is making checked based on the char value from the SQL DB.
In SQL DB field type is char(1).
My requirement is , need to pass "Y" if checkbox is true ,and "N" if checkbox is false.How to pass that parameter in an update statement.
How it is possible?I used the parameter like as follows.But it is giving me an error when i click update.Groupid parameter is working perfect.The error is coming from the "HPermission" parameter.
<asp:BoundField DataField="GroupID" HeaderText="GroupID" InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True" SortExpression="GroupID" />
<asp:TemplateField HeaderText="Hud" >
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:CheckBox ID="chkStatus1" runat="server" AutoPostBack=false
Checked='<%# Convert.ToBoolean(Eval("HPermission").ToString().Equals("Y")) %>'
/>
</ItemTemplate>
<ItemStyle HorizontalAlign="Center" />
</asp:TemplateField>
UpdateCommand="exec [dbo].[GridUpdDel] @GroupID,@HPermission,'UPDATEPERMISIION',0,'',''" >
<UpdateParameters>
<asp:Parameter Name="GroupID" />
<asp:Parameter Name="HPermission" />
</UpdateParameters>

This is the sqlDateTime overflow problem again. Background. As I'm sure you know dates must be between 1/1/1753 and 12/31/2999. If you have an empty date field, it throws and exception. So I created a function (below) that solve the problem when attempting to update or insert a record with a date field. Works great.
Public Shared Function MakeDateField(ByVal pasDate As String) As Nullable(Of DateTime)
If IsDate(pasDate) Then
Try
If pasDate <= System.DateTime.MinValue Then
Return Nothing
Else
Return CType(pasDate, DateTime)
End If
Catch ex As NullReferenceException
Return Nothing
End Try
Else
Return Nothing
End If
End Function
So I thought about using a time field. I have the field, have the validator in place and then attempted to test the page. It resulted in my least favorite error message "sqlDateTime overflow".
I can think of several workarounds like adding a date or a fixed date to the time field, or converting it to a string. Each of these is problematic.
IS THERE A BETTER WAY TO UPDATE/INSERT TIME FIELDS.

I have several grid views indide div's, and when I click the Sort header on an open div the div collapses and no sort happens. I believe it is just reloading the entire page but when I surround PageLoad with !ISPostBack then the page redraws as blank. Since the sort script is generated by the GV, I don't know how to stop it from creating side effects.
Here's my code:
<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
function toggleDisplay(id) {
var obj = document.getElementById(id);
obj.style.display = (obj.style.display == "none") ? "" : "none";
return false; // cancel the href
}
</script>

select distinct tbl.emp_code, b.EmplName, convert(varchar, tbl.punched_date,101) as Punched_date,
(select convert(varchar(8),itbl.PUNCHED_TIME, 114)+', '
from Trn_Capture_Data_New itbl
where itbl.EMP_CODE=tbl.emp_code and itbl.PUNCHED_DATE=tbl.punched_date and itbl.EMP_CODE='4'
and tbl.punched_date >= '03/27/2013' and tbl.punched_date <= '03/28/2013'
for xml path('')) Punched_Time
[Code] ....
I have the above query and that gives me result
Emp_code EmplName Punched_date Punched_Time
4 XXX 3/27/2013 14:22:00, 09:44:00, 10:38:00, 11:01:00, 16:12:00, 18:25:00,
4 XXX 3/28/2013 13:14:00, 09:49:00, 18:02:00,
Now i need to Bind it to gridview, the gridview columns should be
Date,IN,OUT,IN,OUT
In punched time the first one should be IN and second OUT. A employee would have punched several time a day. Based on that I should take maximum punches and bring that of columns as IN and OUT in gridvew dynamically. How to achieve this?

I have a simple GridView with AutoGenerateColumns,Edit and DeleteButton = true
It's data source is a DataTable dynamically generated.
Since i don't want to use object data source, i just catched Delete event and deleted rows from datatable and made a new databind. It works.
I tried to use also AutoGenerateEdit button, but when i click on Edit command field, nothing happes. So i decided to handle by myself edit events, and changed datagrid in this way:
<asp:GridView runat="server" ID="dettaglioprodotti" BackColor="White" BorderColor="#DEDFDE"

I have 5 gridviews, all of of them have a Checkbox template field. I already did SUM of a specific column in the gridviews and displayed the Total in the gridview footers.
There is a submit button on the page as well.(this is not in a template column in the gridview)
what i do is select some rows in the gridviews by ticking the checkbox. Then I click on the submit button and the values change in the database and page refreshes with the new Total in the gridview footers. Any row that was ticked. the checkbox for that row in the gridview gets disabled. so cannot change the value again.
Now i want a way to show a popup with a SUM of those rows that are ticked recently and the SUM of already ticked and disabled rows before the values change for the ticked rows in the gridview when the submit button is clicked.

how to suppress the "AM" in the gridview (template Bind("RideTimeMin", "{0:t}")? Don't tell me to use military time because the function is not "time on a clock"; it's how much time is allowed for a task (in this case the min/max hours & minutes that horses have to complete a 20 mile trail; e.g. 05:00, 05:27, etc). I'm currently accomplishing this in the "ondatabound" function by "..RTmin.Replace("AM","")". I have looked and looked at all the websites that talk about datetime formatting but have yet to find a way to do it upfront in the gridview bind statement.

Ive got a list of records in a gridview (from an SQLDataSource) where a field value is set to True. I've also added a "reset" button in a template field at the start of the row in the Gridview.
What I would like to do is allow the user to click the reset button on a particular row and 'reset' the true value to 'false' (updating the source data).

I have a GridView within an UpdatePanel - <asp:UpdatePanel ID="UpdatePanel1" runat="server" ChildrenAsTriggers="true">
Without listing any Triggers, I get a full postback when I visit a particular row within the GridView and click the 'Edit' button for that row.
However, if I enter the following trigger...
<Triggers>
<asp:AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="GridView1" EventName="RowEditing" />
</Triggers>
...I get an async postback when I click the 'Edit' button for a particular GridView row. This is what I want. In fact, I also get an async postback if I then click the 'Cancel' button for that GridView row which appears after having clicked the 'Edit' button.
However, if I instead click the 'Update' button that appears after having clicked the 'Edit' button, I get a full postback. I have tried almost every GridView EventName
I can find to add to the <Triggers></Triggers> section to get a click of the 'Update' button to result in an async postback, but with no luck.
What EventName should I use in the <Triggers></Triggers> section to get a GridView to do an async postback when clicking the 'Update' button for a particular row?

There is a Gridview in my web page with select button as below:
<div class="test01" style="height:200px;overflow-y:scroll;overflow-x:hidden" align="center">
<asp:GridView Width="100%" ID="GAsset" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False" DataKeyNames="AssetId">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="AssetId" HeaderText="AssetId"/>
<asp:BoundField DataField="AssetName" HeaderText="Asset Name"/>
[Code] ....
When I am selecting any row of Gridview using checkbox and clicking on "Select" button, It is showing ch.checked= false
code is below:
protected void btnSelect_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) {
foreach (GridViewRow row in GAsset.Rows) {
CheckBox ch = (CheckBox)row.FindControl("chkSelect");
if (ch.Checked && ch != null) {
string key = Convert.ToString(GAsset.DataKeys[row.RowIndex].Value);
[Code]....
I also tried debugging my code using break points but it is showing ch.Checked = false everytime, dont know why.

now when I click the edit button the first time nothing happens, when I click edit on another row, the previous row I clicked on changes to editing mode and shows update cancel links, then when I click a 3rd one, the 2nd one changes to editing mode etc...
