Web Forms :: To Change LinkButton PostBackUrl Property

Mar 3, 2011

I'm trying to use PostBackUrl on my asp.net form (insert mode) to go back to previous page. I'm hoping to use Request.UrlReferrer.AbsoluteURL or similar.The difficulty I have is how to assign value to link button (called InsertButton) property "PostBackURL".

Some examples show simply InsertButton.PostBackUrl = Request.UrlReferrer.AbsoluteURL but it my case it doesn't recognize the control. I'm using VS 2010 with asp.net 4.0

So I understand that the HperLink is a Client Side Control but I need code behind so that I can store the click event in the database.  If I use the Link button, I have the opposite issue where I can access the client side but cannot open the url since this control does not have the NavigateUrl attribute.

I am using linkbutton in my gridview to avoid the use of querystrings. The gridview is filled from a dataset.

I almost have it working but the text the linkbutton is displaying does not vary as a function of what row it is in. I need a way to associate the text of the linkbutton with the row it is in.

Accessing Dynamic Controls On Next Page When Redirecting With PostBackURL?

Aug 20, 2012

I had a issue with accessing dynamic controls in destination.aspx, which i had created during runtime while populating them in a panel in source.aspx.

In source.aspx, i generate controls and fill them up in a panel, after that, this page was posted to destination.aspx. however, i am unable to retrieve my controls at the destination page.

Following are some of the ways i had tried.

this does not work at all, i can't cast a control using a request, it only returns me a string.

Web Forms :: Making A Postbackurl Post To Another Page From Code?

Feb 18, 2010

I have 3 search pages which all implement IProductSearch. I have a results page that expects it's PreviousPage to be a cross page postback of type IProductSearch. The IProductSearch pages use the postbackurl property to post themselves to the results page. The results page then loads the search params from the IProductSearch page and loads the results. All in all its working well.

Now, I want to create a IProductSearch page that has no gui and takes all its values from the querystring. But as there is no button to press (therefore no postback url property) how do I get this gui-less IProductSearch page to cross-page post to the results page?

Forms Data Controls :: GridView Dynamic Footer LinkButton Event Not Fired On Last Page?

Oct 28, 2010

So I have a GridView control with autogenerated column set to true, it also has autogenerated Edit and Delete buttons, sorting and paging, and also I am binding this same gridview to multiple data sources at runtime. All is working well.

Now I am adding a dynamically generated footer row at runtime. This footer row will allow users to add new record regardless which data source it binds to. So it is working as well except there's a small bug I couldn't figure out why. It's when I navigate to the last page of the gridview, if the rows on the last page is less than the page size, for example, I have page size 10 and the rows in last page is 9, then when I click the 'Add' linkbutton, the Add event does not fire, instead, it fill the last page with additional blank rows, that means if the last page has 5 rows, it will fill 5 blank rows below, if it has 9 rows, it will fill 1 blank row below. Then if you click the add again, it will work. If the last page already has 10 rows then, it works just fine.

Below is the code I used to dynamically add footer row:

Passing Values To Another Page From A Gridview Using Querystrings

Apr 4, 2012

I'm trying to use hyperlink fields in my gridview to pass certain values into another page using querystrings. On the next page I've put 'labels' that should be populated with data from the gridview, however nothing happens. This is my gridview code:

"<asp:GridView ID="GridViewGuitars" runat="server" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
DataSourceID="SqlDataSourceGuitars" DataKeyNames="ProductID" BorderColor="White">
<Columns>
<asp:BoundField DataField="ProductID" HeaderText="ProductID"
SortExpression="ProductID" InsertVisible="False" ReadOnly="True"
Visible="False" />

[code]....

And this is the code behind file on the landing page:

Protected Sub Page_Load(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)

Dim ProdID As String = Request.QueryString("ProductID")
Dim ProdName As String = Request.QueryString("Prod_Name")
Dim ProdPrice As String = Request.QueryString("Prod_Price")

Forms Data Controls :: Open New Page And Call Stored Procedure?

Apr 14, 2010

Using VS 2008 and SQL Server 2005.

I have a Gridview control on a page (e.g. customers.aspx) which lists a sub-set of records (e.g. Customers). I also have a SELECT stored procedure which populates the fields in a Formview control on another page (e.g. custDetails.aspx), based on the ID (e.g. CustID int) that is passed to it.

I would like for the user to be able to click on the "View" linkbutton beside one of the Customer records and open up the new page with the data for that Customer populated by the stored procedure.

I have read about using a Datakey from the Gridview control but I'm not sure how that relates to the CustID and also, whether or not I could use it to pass to a stored procedure in another page. Would I need to set a global (i.e. static) variable?
