So I understand that the HperLink is a Client Side Control but I need code behind so that I can store the click event in the database. If I use the Link button, I have the opposite issue where I can access the client side but cannot open the url since this control does not have the NavigateUrl attribute.
<asp:HyperLink ID="hlnkCompanyName" runat="server" NavigateUrl='<%# Eval("CompanyAdRedirectURL") %>'

I am having gridview in my UpdatePanel template to avoid postbacks. I used linkbutton in my one of file path column to open selected file. My file path column contain file names with various extensions like pdf,jpg,doc..etc in each row. Whenever i clicked the corresponding file name i want to open the file in separate window but don't let the user to save the same file.Because i am having another column,which has download button to save the file.
I kept the open link and download button in seperate two columns inorderto get the datetime to open and downloading to maintain logs into database. In order to achieve that i have to use RowCommand event of datagrid.

There is a textbox , button and gridview(contains linkbutton in template field) in my webpage. If the user enter some text in the textbox and press button means it will search the text in the interrnet and display the text in gridview (like[URL]if the users clicked the linkbutton in the gridview item i want to save the "clicked link" and "searched text" in the database.If the user clicks the linkbutton in the gridview, i captured the server side event of gridview_rowcommand and wrote the code to save the details in the database. But i cannot get the event of mouse rightclick event of "open in new tab" and "open in new window" option in server side and in javascript.how can i get the event of mouse rightclick "open in new tab" and "open in new window"?

I am looking for a way to figure out the current URL that the page is currently on (NOT what the asp.net page currently is, but where the CODE is at). ie. My web app is located at: [URL] my code is: String page = [URL]
String response = GetResponse(page); //basically the above code goes to the website [URL] and parses the HTML within it and brings it back and populates the variable string "response". But, sometimes the [URL] throws me a curve ball and redirects me to: [URL] I want to be able to use a try/catch to be able to "catch" the error of a different page: ie validateUser.aspx. So, I need to do to this: try
{
String page = [URL];
String response = GetResponse(page);
}
catch
{
//code to check the behind URL to see if [URL] is the URL OR IF [URL] is the current URL
}
understand I know how to find the URL of the current page the web app is on. I need to find the current page that threw the exception during the execution of the code behind.

I have a page that creates a pdf and opens the pdf. I use response.write with javascript using window.open to make the window open with the pdf, works fine. I then want the main window to do a redirect to a message page. But soon as I add code to do that (either more javascript using location.href or response.redirect, it does that but the window.open no longer works. It's like it's running the redirect before it really has a chance to finish the window.open. Is there a better way (a way that works LOL) to accomplish this?

I am building in error-logging into my site, and want to be able to get hold of the current page name that the error occurred in, as well as the specific subroutine or function, to then pass to a VB.NET function. Is there anyway to get hold of this information without hard-coding the names manually? For example,
Dim strCurrentPageName = ???
Dim strCurrentRoutine = ???

I am creating an ASP.NET MVC Web application. Among the options are a series of LinkButtons that refer to videos. I want the user to be able to click on the LinkButton and have the video play in MediaPlayer. I do not use Silverlight in the application, because I don't want the user to have to have Silverlight installed in order for it to work.
The "fly in the ointment" for this is that I DON'T want Media Player to remain open if they are doing other things. I want Media Player to open ONLY if they click on the LinkButton.
I thought about doing this by opening a separate Media Player window, but I had two problems with that:
- how can I make the separate MediaPlayer view open?
- how can I pass the URL of the video to MediaPlayer if it's a separate view?

I have a jquery accordion on an asp.net aspx weppage. Inside the panes, I have asp.net buttons. When I click on the button, the pane I was in, closes and reloads the page, defaulting to the first pane. I don't mind the reload, but is there a way to keep the current pane open after the reload. Right now, I am just calling accordion() on a div with the id of accordion.

I'm trying to build a master page. What I'm trying to do is have a header in the master page with login and register link buttons (which would change to username and sign out) and there are content pages like home.aspx, shoppingcart.aspx, checkout.aspx which would inherit the master page with that header. So in that process i wrote the following code in master page (First.Master). And i tried to inherit the master page in home.aspx through this following code Inherits="SampleMasterProject.First" in the page tag
<body>
<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div>
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="Header" runat="server">
<asp:LinkButton ID="UserNameLinkBtn" Text="UserName" runat="server"></asp:LinkButton>
<asp:LinkButton ID="PwdLinkBtn" Text="Password" runat="server"></asp:LinkButton>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</div>
</form>
</body>
But I get following error

I have a basic webform (method="POST") which I would like to "hide" in codebehind by using <asp:LinkButton> and using the OnClick-value to generate the form in C# & doing the http-request. So basically the form looks like this:
[Code]....
Now what I want is to have something like this:
[Code]....
Now my problem is that if i use the normal <form> it displays correctly and works correctly but if I try using <asp:LinkButton> I can't see anything on the actual page.

I am experiencing an issue with the TreeView control when loading new pages. It is databound to web.sitemap, but when loading a new page, it does not select the node of the current page, just resets it to the root. THe new page loads fine, just not preserving the current navigation in the tree view.

I'm new to ASP.net (and coding in general) and I was very impressed about how easy is to learn enough to create something useful :)
Unfortunately, now I'm stuck on a problem involving gridview sorting and paging: I created a master gridview bound to an sqldatasource, I enabled sorting and paging and then I linked it to a detailsview to enable editing and inserting.
In addition, I set up two other gridviews whose datasources depend on the master gridview.
When a user selects a row and modifies it in the detailsview, the sort takes place and the row is often moved to another page. This can be a little confusing, especially because there are other controls relying on the selected row of the master gridview.
There's a way to find and select the page of the selected row after gridview's databind and sort take place? I tried creating a dataview to search the index of the selected datakey in the databound event of my gridview, but it doesn't work, because it seems that the rows aren't sorted yet. Maybe I should choose another event?
