I am new to asp.net. Can u plz. help me in my project. I want to add new data in grid view when user presses a insert button given with gridview. I want when the button is pressed a form view should open to add data with save option. Can i do this with coding?

i'm inserting data through footer row.i've used 2 buttons add and save.when we click add button footer row has to display.when we click save button values must be inserted into table.for this is the followng events r sufficient.

Im having trouble accessing controls inside the gridview. I have a formview control on a aspx page and inside this formview i have controls that are bound to a datasource. Which works hundred percent. Also inside this formview i have a gridview which i have created my own template. Gridview1 has 3 columns with textboxes in each column.
Column 1 - LogDate
Column 2 - LogBy
Column 3 - Number dialed
Now this is what im trying to do. I have a dial button inside formview1 along with 4 textboxes which has telephone numbers in it. When i click on the dial button i want the time to be populated into Textbox1 which is inside gridview1 and at the same time Textbox2 to be pupulated with the Username as well as the number must be populated into Textbox3 inside gridview1.
I want to insert an extra row in the gridview in the RowDataBound event (or another place if thats possible). How can I do that?
The data in the row to be inserted is not part of the resultset, but rather to split the gridview in logical sections.
I am trying to insert a buttonfield at the end of the datagrid. I am using the following code. However, it is getting inserted at the beginning of the datagrid.

View 7 RepliesIam using the Gridview control for inserting the records in Database i placed the controls in TemplateField tag like Textboxes and DropDownlist but when page executes nothing is displaying in the control Is there any way to get it work or i must have to define the datasource for the Gridview Control????

Using checkboxes, can the row of record(s) be inserted into a database? I am populating a Gridview. Done. A checkbox field has been added, when the user selects one or more rows, a submit button (which is not working) needs to inserting those records into a table. The insert statment will work outside of the page but is not working using the scenario I jut described. Is this task as I have outlined doable?
View 13 RepliesI am having trouble changing page numbers on my gridview after deleting a record if the deletion of the record causes there to be no more records on that page. Currently I have a form below the gridview that adds a record to the datasource of the gridview.

Now with this code above, if I insert a new record using the form below the gridview, it will reload and go to the new page if the insertion causes the record to appear on a new page, however when I delete that record, thus causing nothing to be on that page, the gridview visually just dissappears. I've got the gridview bound by a linqdatasource control, and on the page_load function I only databind if the page is not a postback.
How do I limit my result in my Gridview to 1 decimal places and insert kWh after each answer. For example my current result is 15.513 Im looking to have it display 15.5 kWh. Is this posisble I know for standard stuff like currency symbols you can use

I want to save data to a different table. My save is working fine but the challenge is that it saves empty cells as well.I will like to save only QTyDelivered cell with value. Any empty QTyDelivered cell should be ignored (which means the row of QTyDelivered cell that is empty will not be saved) .How can i achieve this?
I have a GridView1 With Paging allowed, PageSize = 10. And a Nested GridView2. The INSERT function on nested GridView2 works well until the number of record is 10.
On inserting the 11th record, the GridView1 is recorded normally in page 2 of 2. The Nested GridView2 does not fired properly. it appears empty on the 11th record (page 2 of 2), but instead add its record on the last recorded ID on page 1 of 2.
When I remove the paging, everything works well.

I am using an ObjectDataSource in my FormView for INSERT.
Data inserts correctly to my backend SQL table, however as i am posting back a success/fail message to the same page, i have noticed that after a successful INSERT if it hit the Refresh button the INSERT is doubled up.
How can i stop a user pressing the Refresh button and doubling the INSERT?
Is there a setting somewhere or can i stop this programmatically within my ObjectDataSource_Inserting method perhaps?
I have a web page with a gridview & formview (master/detail relationship) combo. On page load the gridview shows all records from a SQL table. On my page I have a button that when clicked shows the formview in Insert mode to allow users to add a new record to the data. I have also added a column to my gridview that has a link. When a user clicks this link it hides the gridview and shows the formview in edit mode with the detail from the record selected from the gridview.
In my formview I am using a listbox control to allow users to select multiple values. The choices in the listbox are populated by a SQL data table. I have successfully written code to post the selected listbox values to my SQL data field during Insert. When the user selects a record to edit I have code in the databound event to select values in the listbox from the choices based on the value in the sql data field. This works as well. My problem is that I cannot figure out the correct code to update my SqL data when a user is editing the record and makes changes to the selected listbox value. I have included my design code for my listbox in my formview edittemplate and also my behind code that I have attempted.

I am using a formview to show data, with edit, insert and delete enabled. My problem is with the insert.When i click the insert, the formview changes fine to the template for inserting new data, the problem is it was allowing the user to insert the ID themselves, I have made this readonly, but how would i go about ensuring the ID key is made the next number in line? and that it is printed to this textbox?
