I got a table in a formview where i placed lots of textboxes and dropdownlists inside the table because I need these textboxes and dropdownlists on a background image.
the data on textboxes and dropdownlists that are inside the table is unable to be saved into the database when i pressed the "submit" button. Other textboxes and dropdownlists that are not inside the table work fine. Here are the HTML code for the table:

I am using list view to display the the data but i am getting an error like An item placeholder must be specified on ListView 'ListView1'. Specify an item placeholder by setting a control's ID property to "itemPlaceholder". The item placeholder control must also specify runat="server.Even i have specified the itemplaceholder id but no use still same error.

Colour ID and Dog are primary keys.
I have three web forms, one for each table. Dog colours consists of data that is already in the system from the other two tables. It basically joins a breed to a colour. My problem is this:
When i try delete a dog which is being used in dog colours the program crashes. How can i prevent this crash?
The second problem, the data source in the dog colours web form has the insert, update and delete tick boxes greyed out in the 'configure the select statement' so i am unable to delete a colour and dog joined together. how can i delete something in the dog colours?

Everything works fine the first time the page is displayed. But, when I click any pager button, including the Next and Prev command buttons that are not part of the PlaceHolder, the contents of the PlaceHolder are never re-displayed. I know from searching other posts that the PlaceHolder contents are lost during the trip to the server, but I am already recreating them every time the page is loaded. They are just never being shown again. I've spent the last two days playing with ViewState And every other combination.

I have a list of teams which are marked off by league, level, division, teamid and then using gridview for the list of players per teams.I've got the drop downs working correctly but running into a little snag and that is on the auto postback.When I only have one option come up in a list, i obviously don't change that list and thus it doesn't change the next drop down because there is no post back. is there a way to use a "header" value?
View 4 RepliesI have a formview that has several dropdownlists in the EditItemTemplate. Some of the dropdownlists are added using placeholders. I can add and populate their listitems without any problem. But when I update the record, none of the controls can be found--even though when I look at the page source they are there. I first strated out using asp:ControlParameter in my sqldatasource updateparameters, but even referencing the control as myform$mycontrol did nothing. So then I moved to code behind on the sqldatasource.updating event (code is attached). The only controls I cannot seem to bind to the update are those added via the placeholder.

The item at the dim statement is not an item added using a placeholder and does not get a null reference exception (I used that to prove during debbugging that I wasn't losing my mind)--however, all the items being used to get the parameter values are getting null reference exceptions and are added via placeholders. The textbox controls are instantiated and then added to a placeholder.
My problem is getting the user entered values from those dynamically added textboxes. They do not seem to exist in the repeater items collection.

View 3 RepliesI am dynamically creating a table that contains a textbox in each cell. The table is put in a placeholder control. Everything displays perfectly. The problem is when I go to retrieve the values entered in the cells. I have the code to generate the table in a separate method called CreateTable(). In order for my program to find a table in the placeholder when I go to save, I have to run CreateTable() in a postback event AND in the PageLoad event. If I call CreateTable() in only one of those places and I try to save, it says the placeholder is empty and, therefore, I cannot save the textbox contents. I've tried calling CreateTable() from InitLoad but that doesn't work because it needs to reference values from three static controls: 1 dropdown, 1 listbox, and 1 calendar control, which I don't believe have had their viewstate rendered yet.

I have a gridviewto which I have added a templatefield based column. In that template field there is a placeholder. I am adding either a textbox or a radiobuttonlist to that placeholder programmatically.
So the problem is that when the page compiles, the contents of the placeholder get tabulated. So each listitem of the radiobuttonlist is encapsulated by its own <td> and <tr>
Now I seriously would not want the items of my radiobuttonlist to get separated as I am using the jQuery UI to style them. Not that they are not getting styled, but not the way should be.

I've got a datatable in a dataset which contains 44 rows. I can iterate through the rows and add the data to a placeholder - it's all there. However, if I bind a control (say a gridview or dropdownlist) to the datatable, all I get is one record (from the "middle" of the table). I get the same result when I create a dataview of the table - one row.

I need to have 3 different sections of a listview act as a repeater, but independen of each other. Each will have identical column headings, but different datasources. They will all share the same Heading, but each will have a different footer.
