Forms Data Controls :: Whenever Trigger A Postback All The Checkboxes Will Be Unchecked

Jun 16, 2010

I am working on a datagrid that has a column with checkboxes... the checkboxes should be checked when the page loaded. The problem is that whenever I trigger a postback, all the checkboxes will be unchecked!!

I don't know what is causing this or what should I do to prevent it from unchecking the checkboxes.

I tried some of the example from the web, but all of them will check/uncheck all the checkboxes in the form, NOT only in the repeater. Is there a way to implement this and only apply to repeater.

Forms Data Controls :: Page Set Up - When A User Clicks On A Row In The Gridview A Hidden Checkbox Is Unchecked

Jun 8, 2010

i am trying to do is set my page up so that when a user clicks on a row in the gridview a hidden checkbox is unchecked... i am new to asp.net but never thought something as simple like this could be so difficult to work out... i've been on it for around 5 weeks now, i started this on my first day of the website, and have actually designed and written the entire site while still trying to work this out... i first did this on the selectedindexchanged event:

Dim cbox As CheckBox = CType(GridView1.Rows(GridView1.SelectedIndex).FindControl("CheckBox1"), CheckBox)

If cbox IsNot Nothing Then

If cbox.Checked = True Then[code]....

problem is the above code throws up errors...! once i take out the where clause it unchecks every checkbox and writes it back... is there a way i can say just uncheck the selectedrow checkbox and update that one row???

i'll admit there are better ways of doing this, and i'm sure the above code is a little messy,

My questions are: how would I open the form with these checkbox's previously checked? In addition to how do I insert the value from a dataSource:

Web Forms :: User Control Refresh / How To Trigger A Postback

Jan 27, 2011

I have around 8 user controls on a page with a form in each of them. I have a dropdown list that allows you to select a form, with a selectedindexchanged event that hides the current form and shows the requested form.

There is some javascript that needs to fire when each form loads. Now, when you click on a form for the first time, the javascript fires as it should, but if you click the dropdown to change the form, then click back to a previous form, the javascript doesn't fire (because the user control is already loaded).

Is there anything I can do to trigger a postback, or reload/refresh the user control whenever an option is selected from the drop down?

Web Forms :: Trigger A Postback Or Self Refresh A User Control?

Jun 5, 2010

I need to trigger a postback or self refresh a user control from one of the functions in the same user control.

Problem is that I am setting the selected value of a dropdown control in this usercontrol but it does not actually show up until after a postback.

This I came to know after I found that the said drop down shows the current value only after I click on another button.

I need to do this on the server side in the function given below:

public void FillDropDown()
{
FillProgramList(select);
//if (Request.Cookies["prgname"] != null)
//{......

Web Forms :: Trigger AJAX PostBack With Panel Click?

Mar 13, 2011

I have four server-side panel controls that, when clicked, trigger some jQuery animation. I'd like them to also trigger some AsyncPostBack as well. Is there an easy way to code that server-side? I know that the Panel controls don't have a Click event.

I could always trigger the AsyncPostBack via JavaScript, but that seems less than ideal.Secondly, (and I don't think this is possible), right now I use a QueryString and cookie to track a PreferredCampus selected. We'll be migrating this to be a subdomain. There's no way to change the URL without full-page postback, correct? What I can do is change the cookie setting via the partial-page PostBack I'm describing above, and then have the subpages catch and redirect to the correct subdomain.I'd really like more information about the first part.

why when I create a checkbox using HTML.CheckboxFor the values remain after postback where as if I just create a simple HTML checkbox in HTML after postback the value is no longer there?

What is the difference between HTML.Checkbox vs. an HTML checkbox? Why does one retain the values after postback and one does not?

Trigger Automatic Postback In Javascript?

I do not have access to the <body> tag because it is in masterpage. I want to trigger an automatic postback when the page load as:

<script type="text/javascript">
window.onscroll= __doPostBack("<%= button.ClientID %>", "");
</script>

where should I put this code? I get a Not implemented JS error if I place it just before the </asp:Content> tag.

PS: I need to trigger that postback because I want to populate an updatepanel when the page loads

C# - How To Use Auto-postback With Checkboxes And Dropdowns

Mar 3, 2011

I have a web flow (asp.net) which has a drop down and a check box.

When the check box is ticked, I need to disable some fields in that form.

When a specific value is selected from the check box, I need to disable other fields.

I specify the checkbox like this:

<%=Html.CheckBox("IsResponseUnavailable", Model.IsResponseUnavailable)%>

And the drop down like this:

<%= Html.MyDropDownList(string.Format("Questions[{0}].Answer", i), (IEnumerable<SelectListItem>)ViewData["Periods"], Model.Questions[i].Answer)%>

Where MyDropDownList is an extension of Html.DropDownList

I've heard about auto-postback - but unsure how to use it

How To Get A Custom Made Set Of Checkboxes Return Values In The Postback

Apr 2, 2010

I have the following in an aspx page:

<td colspan="2">

In the code behind for the aspx page, i have this (e.g. I build HTML for the checkboxes):

Not my proudest moment, but whatever. The problem is that when this page posts back via some event on the page, I never get these tags in the Request.Form collection.

Is this simply how ASP.NET works (e.g. only server-side control post back) or am I missing something simple.

Forms Data Controls :: Get All Checkboxes From A Datalist?

In a datalist i've got a checkbox with a autopostback.

But there is an error if i run it:

System.InvalidCastException: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.LiteralControl' to type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.CheckBox'.

There are 40 checkboxes, if the person selects 1 i need to deselect all others. Very easy, but how to use correct coding for it?

{
CheckBox s = source as CheckBox;
if (s.Checked)
{
foreach (CheckBox c in s.NamingContainer.Controls)
