Forms Data Controls :: Why Set FormView PageIndex Is So Slow
Feb 16, 2010
I just use a FormView to display the data. When I tried to set the PageIndex at Page Load, it is quick to get the PageIndex value from database. But it took 2 seconds to set the PageIndex.
FormView binding to a List collection which get from Database (It is quick to get the data from database)
The FormView is bound to the same ObjectDataSource as the GridView and the FormView uses the autoPaging so I can't just use a separate DataSource for the FormView with just one parameter being the ID.
There must be a way to set the FormView PageIndex by a Datakey value.
I have one textbox one button and one gridview on my webform, when Page loads all records are displayed on gridview, which works perfectly fine, now,I search particular records by entering id in textbox, which finds particular records and found row's background becomes red.which works perfectly fine too, my gridview's pagesize is 15 which means it display 15 records per page, Now,Problem is when i enter ID textbox to search record,but searched record is on another page,so,I want that When i click button to search, the page must be displayed where searched record exist. It displays first page even after search, How can i move to that page where record exist. what i have to code in click event
Each row has a "View Large" link which passes the image id to another page whereupon the image is displayed in a DetailsView.
That page has a "back to album" hyperlink.
All this works nicely, however, no matter what page the user was on in the GridView, having clicked through to the DetailsView and then back to the GridView, the user ends up on page 1 of the GridView.
How can I ensure the user comes back to the same page in the GridView that they were on when they clicked through to the DetailsView? Do I need to pass the gv.PageIndex value and send it back; can I just somehow tell the GridView to "stay where it was"?
Here's the code for the GridView (it pulls the image info from a SQL db:
How do I access GridView Page Index in RowDataBound event? I am assigning PageIndex to hyperlink on the gridview, for this I was planning to use "GridView1.PageIndex" in rowdatabound event. Problem is when I got second page in gridview (10 rows per page), the first row in the page shows page index as "0" and from second row it becomes 1. And if I goto third page, the first row in the page shows page index as "1" and from second row it becomes 2.
I need to get access to the page index of the gridview so I can correctly get some data from a coresponding array to set the cell's contol properties correctly. Below is what I've got so far. The ExcelObject is a class that houses both the data read in from an sutomer submitted excel file and a matching 2 dimensional array of characteristics that I use in this case to set the CssClass property. My problem is that when I enable paging for the gridview I don't get the proper datasource row index when the data is read by the databinder.eval; what I'm getting is the current row of the gridview being generated.
I would like to ask if it is possible to access data on a master FormView from a nested detail FormView.
I have a main form (master) with several tabs (detail) and would like to display a label with text from main form that is hidden by the tab at the moment of editting. My asp page looks like this.
[Code]....
Is it possible to get the value of the label CompanyTextLabel from CompanyTextBox using just ASP.NET expressions or something similar without writing c# code in .cs file?
I have a formview that use the formview iteminserted event. The information inserts into the formview fine, but all cells blank out after the insert. How can I make it so I can show all the values I have inserted show up in the formview after the inteminserted event?
I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:
if (!Page.IsPostBack) { //Initialize SetupDate to today. TextBox setupdate = (TextBox)fvJob.FindControl("txtSetupDate"); setupdate.Text = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString(); }
The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I have two webforms for different performance.If the slow web form with several dropdownlist with 10000 items from database, it will be delay when typing some letters in the textbox.But when typing letters in the fast webform with dropdownlist with 5 items from database, it will be no delay when typing some letters in the textbox
I am using gridview. In which i m entering some value in textbox in Gridview.According to that value, i m generating datatable and binding it to the Gridview(Child Gridview).But when i m doing this, the performance of the page is very slow. How do i improve the performance.
When i export the data table to excel 2003 i get the output in a very fast manner and when i want to use the same in excel 2007 debugging gets stopped and nothing happens.... It does not show any errror on it to. When i slowly debugged i find that in saveas() it takes longer time and it seems like execution gets stopped in this process.
Its like in new window it shows loading for more than 10 min and after some time the particular window gets closed and nothing happens can anyone tell me what can be wrong.When the same code works great when i export to 2003.
I have to freeze the first column in a data grid. i have done freezing part but the issue is vertical and horizontal scroll bar movement getting slow. in my data grid each row contains 18 textboxes and 18 image buttons.if number of rows count around 15 then the scroll bars working almost properly.issue in morethan 15 rows
For freeze i am using CSS.Platform is asp.net1.1
in CSS i am using below given codes. div#div-datagrid { width: 200px; height: 200px; overflow: auto; } /* Locks the left column */ td.locked, th.locked { position:relative; cursor: default; left: expression(document.getElementById("div-datagrid").scrollLeft-1); } /* Locks table header */ th { font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; text-align: center; background-color:Navy; color: white; border-right: 1px solid silver; position:relative; cursor: default; top: expression(document.getElementById("div-datagrid").scrollTop-4); z-index: 10; } /* Keeps the header as the top most item. Important for top left item*/ th.locked {z-index: 99;}
I am Using OboutGrid to Display the data in my Webforms..this is cool when am binding small data..but when am binding huge data it takes more time to display the records rather than normal datagrid. How can i improve the performance..
i have the following scenario: one formview. when in editmode there is a child formview linked to the other by a column value. i need to take the value of one of the values of parent formview controls and set it to a textbox of child formview in insert mode. I wish to know which event should I use in codebehind to bind both controls? (that escenario will have paging and must keep the binding as if it was master detail)
Using a class component, an Object data source and a formview I am successfully pulliing data from a SQL database. In some cases the rows contain one or more Null values and I would like them to be ignored completely. My simple code follows:-
I am displaying selectable rows in a gridview. The selected row uses a stored procedure to display all the fields in a formview when the Select button is clicked.
Only a small subset of the fields in the selected row are editable. When I click the Edit button only the EditItemTemplate fields show up, the read-only fields from the ItemTemplate disappear. I want the read-only rows to remain visible with the editable rows.
If I include the read-only fields in the EditItemTemplate, I get an error when I click Update on the FormView. The error states that there are too many parameters being passed to the stored procedure to update fields. How can I continue to show the read-only fields with the editable fields on the FormView and avoid getting the input parameter error on the stored procedure for the Update command?
