Forms Data Controls :: Set Value To Textbox In Nested Formview From Parent Formview Label?
Apr 10, 2010I have a nested formview. I need to set a value for a textbox when I'm in insert mode from parent formview which is editmode.
View 4 RepliesI have a nested formview. I need to set a value for a textbox when I'm in insert mode from parent formview which is editmode.
View 4 Repliesi have the following scenario: one formview. when in editmode there is a child formview linked to the other by a column value. i need to take the value of one of the values of parent formview controls and set it to a textbox of child formview in insert mode. I wish to know which event should I use in codebehind to bind both controls? (that escenario will have paging and must keep the binding as if it was master detail)
View 9 RepliesI would like to ask if it is possible to access data on a master FormView from a nested detail FormView.
I have a main form (master) with several tabs (detail) and would like to display a label with text from main form that is hidden by the tab at the moment of editting. My asp page looks like this.

Is it possible to get the value of the label CompanyTextLabel from CompanyTextBox using just ASP.NET expressions or something similar without writing c# code in .cs file?
I have a formview containing an insert template. One of the fields you can insert is a multiline textbox. When i update or insert, i write the value to an SQL database. The next time i edit the record, everything shows up in the multiline textbox as it was when i inserted it. This includes the newlines(or break rules, or whatever you call it in english) i've entered.
For my itemtemplate, i want to use a label to represent this value. But when i do so, it doesn't use newlines, it just puts the text in one line.
How does the multiline textbox save these 'new lines' to the database? and how can i retrieve them when using a label?
I have a webform that has a formview (fvwContract) and inside itemtemplate there is a Tabcontainer with three tabs (invoice (spanish: factura), receipt (spanish: recibo) and beneficiary (spanish: beneficiario). I have another formview inside invoice tab (fvwFactura) with many textboxes that I need to manipulate in code behind. The thing is that I can´t reference any of them like the following:
protected void DropDownList1_SelectedIndexChanged2(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer container = (AjaxControlToolkit.TabContainer)fvwContract.FindControl("TabContainer1");
FormView myforma = (FormView)container.FindControl("fvwFactura");
TextBox txtdos = (TextBox)myforma.Row.FindControl("txt2");
Label lbldos = (Label)myforma.Row.FindControl("lbl1");
lbldos.Text = "sample1";
txtdos.Text = "sample2";
}
I just don't know how to reference any control inside frwContract.TabContainer1.fvwFactura
I have a main formview which contains another formview. In the second formview I have a section that needs to insert/update. I want to access this formviews events for example I can access the main formviews item inserted event in the code behind:
FVInvoiceHCPAgreement_ItemInserted
I can't choose the nested formview events in the code behind
ie. FVInvoicePaymentInfo_ItemInserted
I have tried adding the ItemInserted event in the .aspx page
i.e. onItemInserted = "FVInvoicePaymentInfo_ItemInserted"
but for the handles clause it can't see FVInvoicePaymentInfo.
I have a formview that use the formview iteminserted event. The information inserts into the formview fine, but all cells blank out after the insert. How can I make it so I can show all the values I have inserted show up in the formview after the inteminserted event?
View 2 Repliessince APS.Net 4.0 I have a curious problem with an event.
There is a FormView and inside of the EditItem there is a GridView. In the Footer of the GridView I put Controls for inserting records.
But when I fire a markup defined RowCommand of that GridView then the same event is getting fired for the Parent FormView. First I had 'Insert' as the CommandName and so I was getting the Error that my FormView had to be in insert mode to insert a record. Then I changed the RowCommand of the GridView to 'xxx' and I got also the RowCommand 'xxx' at the RowCommand eventhandler of the Parent FormView.
The project was migrated from .Net 3.5 a few days ago, but nothing was manually changed in the code/markup. And the problem was not there with the "old" framework.

Of course, I could simply change the CommanName of the LinkButton e.g. to 'InsertChild' but I would like to know:
Is this a known change or a bug of ASP.Net 4.0?
I am having trouble populating two dropdownlist controls with a list of files.The controls should be loaded with a list of images and paths that are held in the IDictionary object.The dropdown controls are nested in a Formview Control under the currentmode of insert or edit.Here's a clip of my form code:

I need to assign a value to a label in a formview. I need to assign a session value to a label in a formview the label is on the insert template.
View 3 RepliesI've got a formview that does a simple 'SubTotal' calculation based on some checkbox inputs. I write out the subtotal to an asp:label control. I want to be able to also be able to write that value into the QueryString so I can carry it over to another page. I can't seem to access the label from my codebehind (intellisense doesn't find it). I assume I'm not making the correct reference to the formview label control, but I don't know how to go about getting at it.

getting ans using data in my example.:first I would like to tell that sqldatasource return only one row.
[Code]....
protected void FormView1_ItemInserted(object sender, FormViewInsertedEventArgs e)
{
// Here I want to make a label "Saved" visible after user inserts the record into the formview.
// the label is in InsertItemTemplate of the formview next to Insert and Cancel Links. It is invisible by default.
// Is this the right event that i am in to do something like this.. if there is any other way to do this,
}
I have a label inside a formview that is not bound to anything.
Lets say I have a table of customers (with a key field called CustomerID), and then another table that has all their orders (with amount spent per order (OrderID) - based on CustomerID)
On the FormView there is a key field (CustomerID) (this is to be used as an INPUT parameter to a SP - which is to return the SUM of all the customers (Order_Totals). I could nest a view within a view I suppose to get this result, however, I just want a label to simply show this ScalarValue.
Basically, I want the label to show the aggregate (SUM) total amount each customer has spent on all orders. I have a SP called SumCost with two Fields (one a grouped by field CustomerID and the other a Summed Total of each customer's orders SumCost)
SELECT [SumCost] FROM [SumCost] WHERE ([CustomerID] = @CustomerID)
I test my SP and it works great, returning the value based on CustomerID - no problem.
My problem is getting the CustomerID passed into the SP on runtime (do I put it in FormView2_Databound) and putting the value into the label (CustTotalLbl) which is inside this form.
I have a addform where I maually have placed a confirm label inside the formvieww.
But how can I connect this label with C# ??
If I place the label Outside the addform, I can connect the label, but I can't find the label if it is placed inside the formview.
This is my code down here for the outside label, which do well.
<asp:Label ID="lblreceipted" Text=" " runat="server"></asp:Label>
<asp:FormView ID="AddForm" OnItemInserted = "FormViewAddNew_Inserted" ...
protected void FormViewAddNew_Inserted(object sender, FormViewInsertedEventArgs e)
{
System.Threading.Thread.Sleep(1000);
if (e.Exception == null)
{
lblreceipted.Text = "your insert succes";
}
}
How to refer to a control (label) which is on a Formview (in Edit mode). The formview is on a Multiview...
View 3 RepliesIn web config file I have add key values specified.
In the formview I have labels on edit , item and insert mode that I want to display all the time by getting those values from web config. I'm able to do that with no problem but when I change the modes between edit to insert or item view, I lose those label values until I hit the "select" twice from the Gridview, those values re-appear. Below is the snippet of the code. What do I need to do to retain the category values all the time?

I have a page with a FormView on it. The page is strictly for adding records to a Table. I have the FormView bound to an EntityDataSource and everything works greate except for one thing.
I want to initialize a date field in the FormView to today's date. So, in my page_load event I have:
if (!Page.IsPostBack)
{
//Initialize SetupDate to today.
TextBox setupdate = (TextBox)fvJob.FindControl("txtSetupDate");
setupdate.Text = DateTime.Now.ToShortDateString();
}
The first time this page loads, the txtSetupDate field is initialized.
Although, and subsequent loads of the page doesn't initialize the Text Box. I step through the code in the debugger and I can see that the code is executig, but something (the FormView bind?) is "clearing" the Text Box.
I need to set the value of TextBox in a FormView when the mode changes to Insert. But when I was trying to get it to work, neither one of the code blocks below worked. The value was not set, despite the TextBox being found. Furthermore, the 'test' label text wasn't being set. I know for certain that both events are firing. I had added the test label to disploay the mode or newmode of the FormView but the label wasn't being set at all.

I need to set the defaulfocus for a webpage that will be used for scanned input.
The page needs to start with focus on a textbox in a formview and remain there as each item is scanned. I have already setup the default button to update data on enter which will happen as each item is scanned. There is only one text box and the update button in the formview.
I am using a form view to update details off activities, i have used the asp.net wizard to update the activities but for some reason in my VB page my textbox which is in the formview is not picking up.

Basically what I am trying to write is: How can I rewrite this statement so that the textbox and the dropdownlist is recognised in the vb page?
How do I check if a textbox in a formview has changed when I click "Update" (in Edit mode)? TIA. I use VS2008 and Framework 3.5.

View 13 RepliesI have a Formview where students put their information in such as name, address, etc. The text boxes are bound to my database, so once they are done, they choose to update, and my database is updated with their information. My problem is that the students often use All Caps to enter in their information.
I think I need the StrConv somehow, but I just can't seem to get this done. I've seen where it could be done with text boxes, but not when they were in a Formview using parameters.
I'm using this:

Is there a better way to do it?
