Get Code Library Targeting To Work With 3.5 Application?

Dec 29, 2010

I'm building a new code library and would like to use .Net 4 as my target framework as all my new apps will use .net 4. My legacy web apps use .Net 3.5. I want to use this code library for all of my apps. At this point, I see only 2 options Compile the dll for each framework I need, changing the target framework each time Create separate projects with differing target frameworks. Is there any way around this so my code library is a single compile? Didn't know if there was something built into 4 to allow something like this.

Get TinyMVC .NET Class Library To Work On ASP?

Sep 23, 2010

I am trying to implement the TinyMCE Spellcheck plugin that uses GoogleSpell. The thing is I am trying to install it in an MVC environment. I started by referencing the .NET class Library DLL (MoxieCode.TinyMCE) in my project. Then, I added this code to my web.config:

<system.webServer>
<handlers>
<add name="TinyMCE" verb="GET,HEAD,POST" path="TinyMCE.ashx" type="Moxiecode.TinyMCE.Web.HttpHandler,Moxiecode.TinyMCE" />
</handlers>
<!--previously existing rules-->
<validation validateIntegratedModeConfiguration="false"/>
<modules runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests="true"/>
</system.webServer>

I then added these lines to my tinyMCE.init({}); call:

plugins: "spellchecker",
theme_advanced_buttons3: "spellchecker",
spellchecker_languages : "English=en",
spellchecker_rpc_url : "TinyMCE.ashx?module=SpellChecker",

These steps are outlined in the tutorial here. I then followed instructions from this stack overflow post which recommended the following modification to global.asax to make it mvc friendly:

routes.IgnoreRoute("TinyMCE.ashx");
routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}");

Everything seems fine accept that when I browse to /TinyMCE.ashx i get this error:

Description: HTTP 404. The resource you are looking for (or one of its dependencies) could have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable. Please review the following URL and make sure that it is spelled correctly.

Requested URL: /TinyMCE.ashx

Why can't asp.net mvc process that url?

How To Use Razor View Engine Auto-complete To Work In A Class Library

Nov 11, 2010

We have a modular architecture where we have some views (cshtml) files in a separate project (class library). How can we get the syntax highlighting and autocomplete to work when the project isn't an MVC project?

note that the class library has controllers, views, models etc. It just doesn't have the web.config, global.asax, etc that a normal mvc project would have.

The intellisense works for everything but the so important model:

With MVC3 RTM, if you hover over the Model, you can now get a better error message:

[code]....

Then after adding the build provider, this error message appears:

[code]....

C# - How To Add A Reference To A Web Application Project In An Associated Class Library

May 13, 2010

I'm working on an internet application that has been set up as a web SITE project (I know...) in Visual Studio. I need to add additional features/functionality so have added a class library to the project and referred to it in the main web site project.

The issue now arises because I need to make use of core objects which live inside the App_Code directory in the web site project but this project doesn't appear to expose its DLL like web app/ code library projects do. Because of this I can't add a reference to the web site project in the class library to leverage the common site-wide code/objects.

I can't move the stuff out of App_Code so I'm looking for a way to refer to the website project dll from the new class library.

Deploying Web Application Which References Class Library With WCF Service?

Jan 28, 2011

I have a separate environment for development. On my production server, where we mostly host web applications, we deploy the precompiled version of the web project. While doing development I work on three projects. One is the WCF Service. Two, is the class library project. This library has classes which makes calls on the WCF service. And the third, is a web project which consumes the class library.

The last two projects come under one VS solution. I host the wcf service in the development environment. This service is added as service reference to my class library. I am unable to visualize what will happen once I add the DLL (viz output of the class library project) to my web project, and, the web project has to be deployed. At the time of deployment I have to change the service reference (the url of the svc file will change as it has to point to the production wcf service). How to go about this? What must I take care when adding the dll to the web project?

Configuration :: Virtual Directory Targeting Newer Framework Version Than Parent Site?

Mar 25, 2011

There is an existing asp.net 2.0 app on an IIS 6 server. I need to add a feature/page to this site (third party app, don't have source code). I'm creating my tool in VS targeting dotnet 4. For end user convenience I need my tool to be available within the same url namespace as this .net 2.0 app. I assumed I would just create a new virtual directory within this existing app to put my app. But I hadn't thought about the different framework versions.... the web server does have v 4 installed. So can I create my virtual directory and host my v4 tool there, within the v2 website?

anything I should be aware of to make that work?

Visual Studio :: Code Behind Page Not Recognizing Class Library Project?

Jun 11, 2010

I've got an ASP.NET 4 web forms application I'm building in Studio 2010. The solution has two projects. A web forms application and a class library. I have added a reference to the class libraryr project in the web forms project, but when I go a code behind page in the web forms project, it does not recognize the class from the class library and throws the "type or namespace <class> could not be found ...." error. Adding a using <class library projec> does not work either as it does not recognize that.

What am I missing?

Folder / Contents Of Class Library Appearing In Website Project Of Web Application

Oct 8, 2010

When I make an asp.net web application and add class libraries to the solution, the website project itself has a folder with the same name/contents as the class library.

Eg I make a web application called Test, add a project which is a class library, to the solution, called testAbc, and then there is a folder at the root of the website project called testAbc with the contents of the class lib.
