GridView HeaderText Is Empty In Some Cases?

How to solve it? Originally i want to invoke a page method.

Jul 31, 2010I have a gridview and I would like to be able to programatically change the HeaderText of it's columns (probably in the DataBinding event). I know this can normally be achieve with something like this:
myGrid.Columns[0].HeaderText = "My Header Text";
However, the gridview in question is actually nested within another gridview (via template column). So I can't access it directly. I'm trying to use the FindControl method to access it, but so far that isn't working.

In otherwords, in my design, I have a calendar event which is used to generate a report on the gridview and I have a dropdownlist which is used to generate a different report on the same gridview, so depending on the control that is clicked on depends on the report being generated. Now I would like a situation where my gridview rowdatabound is only applied to the dropdownlist report not the calendar event report. How can i go about doing so.

I have a GridView with HeaderText specified in this way>

In the same way I have validation controls and they can't be localized.

With the goal of having the header of Field1 be Text1 when the 4th-7th characters of Field2 = Text3 and Text2 otherwise?
I tried it and it just put "'<%IF(Eval("Field2").ToString().SubString(3,4).Equals("Text3"),"Text1","Text2") %>'" as the actual header string!

Feb 12, 2011I have a gridview with a hyperlinkfield inside of it. There is a dropdownlist that re-databinds the gridview onselectedindexchanged. I'm using the datanavigateurlformatstring attribute of the hyperlinkfield to make the url, and in in most cases it works as it should. HOWEVER, when one particular item is selected from the dropdownlist the associated links that are supposed to be created in the hyperlinkfield do not work. They arent actually clickable. In the source they have no href (which is what the datanavigateurlformatstring is supposed to set along with datanavigateurlfields). I have debugged to see that before and after databinding the information going into the control is correct, but still it doesnt work. In every other case it works.

Jun 25, 2010I have an gridview with 3 columns. As default I entered for each columnns an headertext, but depending on an language parameter in the data the headertext is changed on page_load with a SetLabels function.
Recently I added an templatefield textbox with an autopostback=true and an ontextchanged event :
When a user changes the text in the textbox all events are executed properly BUT my headertext is set back to the default value (from the .ascx) even tho page_load event is executing properly WITH the SETLABELS function.

Jul 22, 2010Is tehre anyway to set the HeaderText dynamically on a gridview? I'm trying the below, it kind of works, but the problem is on the initial load nothing shows up, but when I postback then the new text populates:
grdvMyTest.HeaderRow.Cells[5].Text = GetTheCalculatedDate();
I've tried that in both Page_Load and grdMyTest_Load, but same thing happens in both. When the page initial loads the column header text is blank, when I click something causing a postback it pops up. I don't have a IsPostBack check around that line, so it should be running regradless. I'm guessing I'm doing it at the wrong event, either too eariler or too late.

Mar 4, 2011I am working with a gridview that pulls data from a SQL database based on selections in dropdown lists. The source table has six columns for attributes of the selection, but depending on what is chosen, there could be anywhere from one to six of those that are empty (all null values). When the column is empty, I would like to have it hidden so the page is less clunky and confusing.
I've searched around for an answer for the past couple days, but what I have found so far is either related to hiding columns that you know are empty which I will not know or removing them in the SQL code which I think doesn't work if the column is called for in the gridview code and doesn't exist in the query.

Jul 8, 2010I have a grid that is built as well as populated dynamically through c# code. The grid has 3 columns(3 bound fields). And data is being populated in those bound fields through c# code programatically.
Elaborating my question: I have 3 bound field columns(col1, col2 & col3) . I have to increase the rowspan of col2 and col3 headertext's to 2 i.e I want the col2 and col3 header texts to span across two row cells. But the col1 header text should span across just 1 row. And the extra rowscell that is created under col1 due to the increase in the rowspans (of col2 and col3 boundfield headertexts) should be populated with some random text, i.e something like XXXXX

If i remove the gvOff.Columns[index].HeaderText portions, GridView works fine, but when i put the gvOff.Columns[0].HeaderText, i get the exceptional error.

Hold on! I commented the HeaderText portion and tested
int i = gvOffer.Columns.Count;
I found count is 0 eventhough the columns print out with DataBind()... Why?
NOTE: AutoColumn in this case is set to true. I guess i will have to edit the column
names from DataTable.

The user can provide a group of strings for a propert. ex:
DaysNeeded ="Sunday,Tuesday,Friday,Saturday";
In the actual UI, the days of the week are available as check boxes. I'm trying to provide a way so that the user can also set the days needed in the code behind through a property.
Now my query is, which strategy is the best way to execute certain pieces of code that are respective to the days that the user have provided. Meaning, the DaysNeeded property has sunday,Tuesday, Friday and Saturday. Each day has certain piece of code to be executed. If i have to have a forloop with a switch case for each day of the week, i feel it would cost more as i have to run the for loop, the number of days the user has given.
Is there a way that i can run a single code that matches all the set of days the user has given and run the respective code pieces?
