GridView Which Contains A Linkbutton In Its Templatefield?
Aug 18, 2010
I have a GridView which contains a linkbutton in its templatefield. What I want to know is, when I click on the linkbutton, how can I get the text of the linkbutton into a string called 'name'?
in my girdview i have a template field wihtin linkbutton "Edit". i set the property visible=false
[Code]....
in code behind i set it to visible=true when selecting a row.On selecting an other row - i want to hide the previous linkutton and show the linkbutton in the new selected row
I've turned up lots of advise from similar things, but not this exactly. I have a gridview with a templatefield that I want to call javascript from the OnClick event (or OnClientClick). When I try to compile, it complains saying my server tag isn't well formed. I'm sure that's a red herring...
I would like to call a method and pass a value to it on a link button autogenerated from the database in a templatefield inside a datagrid. I don't know much about delegates
running the website and viewing the page source, I have realised that there is an OnClick event created for the linkbutton, however, this may be generated anyways. By running my solution using VS debugging, I can see that my method won't fire by clicking any of thos generated linkbuttons.
but it didn't work and gave me the following error:
Databinding expressions are only supported on objects that have a DataBinding event. System.Web.UI.WebControls.TemplateField does not have a DataBinding event.
I tried also to hide it programmatically, but seems I can't reach to the column by name (there's no name for TemplateField column).
Im using a LINQDataSource to populate a GridView of Universities.
Each University has an associated State, which is in another table and associated by a foreign key (StateID).
I have a TemplateField in the GridView so that when you view it normally it displays the StateName which comes from the State table and when you edit it shows a DDL populated with everything from the State table.
[Code]....
If I debug, inside of RowUpdating, GridViewUpdateEventArgs.NewValues doesnt even have a key for State.
Question: How do I let my gridview know I want it to update this column? All the BoundFields just seem to work...
I'm using dynamic columns boundfield and templatefield in gridview, the GV embeded in a panel (autoscroll:auto;width:fixe), I fixed 3 columns to fit the panel's width , when I add exceed the 3 columns the width changes !
Are there any restrictions on using templatefields in gridview if the gridview is inside an updatepanel? If I click on the imagebutton, I get a exception which I can't seem to figure out.
Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> [code]...
i have a customized gridview.my grid is able to sort for each column just by 1 click in the header without any setting and overloading methods such as sorting, etc by user(programmer).(i do this successfully and work fine)users(programmers) maybe add each column in grid.such as template field,hyperlinkfield,boundfield... .for sorting, i must access datafield of columns.i can access boundfield column by this code.i can access datafield and header text and ... sample:
i want access "Name" (Bind ("Name") or Eval ("Name")) .how can i?there is a point: i dont now what is the ID (in this case "Label1") of control in templatefield.
I am using a text box inside a GridView as ItemTemplate field. I have a requirement to get the value of the text box usingJquery. How can I do that? How can I get the textbox object under a GridView in Jquery.
I want to create simple rating page where player's place, name and rating is displayed. I've created database with ID,Name and Rating Columns, binded Gridview to this database and created TemplateField "Place". With following code I've created numbered list for Place:
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e){ for (int i = 0; i < GridView1.Rows.Count; i++)
I have a GridView, bound to a table (Meals) in a SqlDataSource.
Into that GridView, I have added a TemplateField, which contains a DropDownList (which displays the numbers 1 - 10, added manually; no Data Binding). And, I've added a ButtonField.
When I click the Button, I want the values of some of the GridView rows PLUS whatever value was selected in the DropDownList to be pulled out and stored in a second Sql table (Orders).
Pulling the rows bound to the SqlDataSource is easy but JavaScript is needed (I think) to pull the SelectedValue from the DropDownList. I understand women more than understand JavaScript (that's how little I know) and the code below has been kindly offered by another forum user who is at a loss, himself, now.
Here's the code and the error message I'm getting.
ASPX:
[Code]....
And here's the Code Behind:
[Code]....
No design time errors reported but here's the run time error:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
On the following line:
Line 28: if (row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
I've got a template field in a gridview that contains just a simple button...
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Administration.aspx.cs" Inherits="Administration" %> <%@ Register TagPrefix="ajaxToolkit" Namespace="AjaxControlToolkit" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
[Code]....
Whenever I click the button I get the error...
Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate from the server control that originally rendered them. If the data is valid and expected, use the ClientScriptManager.RegisterForEventValidation method in order to register the postback or callback data for validation.
I've found a decent amount of articles referencing this issue, including a couple on SO, for example...

I might just be misunderstanding, but as far as I can tell they don't really help me. How do I get this to go away without setting enableEventValidation="false"?
I'm relatively new to the VS environment. I'm using VS2010 Beta 2 with VB. I have a Gridview setup to pull a list of employees. Next to their name I have edit and delete icons. When I leave the icons as ButtonFields, they pass the DataKey value to my code behind perfectly. When I convert the ButtonFields to TemplateFields, they no longer pass the DataKey.
I was wondering if there is any way to view an sql statement that is created by a templateField Gridview when updating? I had my Gridview working properly then I changed my update statement to update less fields and I changed a couple more things on the page and now I don't know what broke it. The error I'm getting is
"System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException: Syntax error in UPDATE statement."
When I searched for this error it said to debug it but all that happens when I do that is visual studio tells me there were errors because it couldn't find my header, which it does find when it runs regularly so this isn't the problem.
