I'm reading about URL routing at How to: Define Routes for Web Forms Applications and there's something in the example I don't understand. If you look at the example provided below,

i have a SearchEntity (SE), which contains following propertes

What i want to do is to pass this entity to the services and return how many ppl has been selected, but i was a bit confused about how to solve the union and intersection issues among each parameters( ex.1) and SEs themselves(ex.2). for example the following scenarios,
1. what if i want to select ppl who ( age>20 and female ) or (who live in LA and (chose answer no.1 or answer no.2))
2. what if to select ppl who ((age <20 or age >60) and female and live in LA and chose answer no.1)
OR
((age <18) and male and live in LA and chose (answer no.1 or chose answer no.2))
OR
(age>65 and live in NY)
in brief, could anyone tell me how to re-design my SE entity so i can handle all the possible scenarios in terms of selecting union and intersection and subset issues?
I'm trying to prevent direct file requests from being accepted, and have tried this:

I am trying to create an Area for running DynamicData with scaffolding as an administration part. It's probably working as it should but I can't get the routing to work.

Unfortunately the "best" thing that happened to me so far was that when I check the default tables I get a message about (MetaModel.VisibleTables)

The problem is that I don't know why this is. Is it the routing or something else? Is it perhaps some security thing or can I not put dynamic data inside an area?
The DynamicData folder itself is located in the root of the application since that is the convention it uses and I have no intention to override that.
I've been worked with web services so far, and I'm interested in expanding my services to console applications as well so I started digging up with WCF but I'm conserned that I won't be able to use the HttpContext collection that I've been used to do with web services one important thing which is to generate a random value from HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables["ALL_HTTP"] that I need to reckon if it's the same or at least near what machine that is calling my service. How can I overcome this problem?
I need to know what machine is calling to count the number of attempts to login into my system for example. So must do it inside of the svc code otherwise if I let the client inform what ip address or what computer he is using, anyone could forge this argument and surpass by another machine. May be I'm approaching this matter wrongly. And I should count the number of attempts per state session, but how is it done?

the problem is that i need to remove only specific routes from the routetable and then add them back (with some changes). I do not want to clear the whole collection.

the problem is, as soon as the first route is removed, the following error is thrown:
Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute
so how can i get around this error? or is there a better way to remove routes?
Our corporate intranet is designed so that each web application is a child application in the primary application.. Everything has worked fine with Visual Studio 2008 and even in 2010 running the website locally works great, the output directory for the child apps is ..in and the ProjectName.dll copies to that directory.. When I do a publish however it does not and I have to manually copy the dll from the bin folder in the project folder to the parent bin folder, this isn't hard of course but more of a pain in the butt each time I need to publish something. I made sure the output directory is correct for both debug and release yet on publish is just copies it to the child bin and not the parent bin as needed.
View 2 RepliesI am having this issue with a web application. I have built a CMS that uses URL Routing, which I have loaded dynamicall from the database. My Global.asax File looks like this:

My code works just fine, but every time I change the table clr_SystemRoutes, (inserting a new route definition) I am forced to copy the global.asax file to the web server, even though it hasn't changed. I am assuming this causes some event that re-registers the RouteTable, but I'm not sure. What can I do to make the RouteTable something I can change without having to do that. Is there a way to re register the routes programmatically or is there an existing method to do this?
I am learning .net and I have implemented SiteMapPath on a site i'm developing which uses Url Routing. It is working fine for static routes but i am trying to get it to work on a dynamically generated route that passes a {date} and a {title} but I can't find any information on it anywhere, I have a book but it doesn't go in to SiteMapPath with UrlRouting.

The global root controller render a view in which I initialize AngularJS. It works for me, but I need to ignore routes for .css | .js | .*images_extensions* .
As I understood the following code doesn't work for this version of ASP.NET vNext:
routes.IgnoreRoute("{resource}.axd/{*pathInfo}");
How I can make ignoring of a route?
I just created a small site with form authentication with route handling. Without forms authentication, the pages route just fine. With forms, it returns back to the login page as it is not one of my allowed locations specified in my web.config file.
I know I probably need to write a custom route handler. Does anyone have an example I can follow for this?

I have a function that sets the Theme for the page but I want to define this in a MasterPage for each page that uses that MasterPage. This seems like the most likely way to do this to me, am I doing something wrong?

I have a custom CRM package and I need to allow specific users have different layouts on selected screens. I do not want to support multiple software packages so I am thinking that I have some type of interface that allows a user to select what fields they want to input on a given screen. However, what is the easiest way to make this happen? I am thinking that I have some type of XML file that is read that a user can define.

I have a server that has been using ARR 2.0 on IIS 7. I recently added MVC 2.0 to my ASP.NET site. After adding it the ARR routes return the following error: The virtual path 'null' maps to another application, which is not allowed. In my web.config I can remove the modules attribute runAllManagedModulesForAllRequests and the ARR works, but it makes the MVC routes stop working.
I created an MVC 2 RTM Project and created 2 Areas (Admin and Applicants) The code belows was added into the global.asax: AreaRegistration.RegisterAllAreas(); I also ensured that duplicate Controllers were managed as i have a homecontroller in the root and the Admin Area. The code used was; new string [] {"MyAppName.Controllers"} This too went into the global.asax The error i got is below; A route named 'Applicants_default is already in the route collection. Route names must be unique. Parameter name: name how to resolve this?
View 6 RepliesI am having an issue with MVC-3 generating outgoing routes for me. This is the address of the page I am on for both scenarios: [URL] Here are the map routes:

The resulting link that gets created. [URL] If I change the controller code to read as follows:

I didn't make any changes in the view, only added those two lines to the controller and the following link is created: [URL] What am I missing here? This is consistent behavior, I was able to reproduce this in other areas of my application.
in .vb file, in a class i have created a button control, assigned its ID, and other properties.
In code behind file of a aspx page i have created object of that class.Run the page and browser Button control is coming. Now i want to do something in its click event.
But i am confused how to define that one, since presently there is no any button control instantiated.It is getting instantiated at the runtime.So, how to define its click event or any other events ?
I use file upload control. How I can define that user can upload 300kb if they upload more than 300kb it show error that they can't upload more than 300KB...
