I am creating roombooking website in asp.net.
and i am facing problem while inserting the record.
eg:
if the room is already booked from 1st march 2010 to 10th march 2010.and if anybody is booking the same room from 4th march to 9th march it should show error message stating that
this room is already booked from 1st march to 10th march.
On inserting record, I want to check that for example if a user enters a telephone number for any record is already in the database then it should validate that the number already exists in table and you cannot enter a duplicate value.
Then if user will provide some other telephone number then he allows to insert record.
For insertion of record I used ObjectdataSource.
User will enter telephone number in a simple textbox.
I may want to inform that I am working in asp.net2.0 and also not allowed to use any third party control or ajaxtoolkit.
I have a formview and inside it there are two textboxes taking integer as input.I put a condition that if both textboxes are empty then user should be notified that "Please put value in any one of the textbox".It is working very fine.From database side DBA checked that if user input any integer value in any one of the two textboxes and if it is already found in database then there is no insertion.The problem is that everything is working fine and i checked in the database that the record is also not inerting due to duplicate check but user is getting message that "Record inserted successfully."How to stop this message and how to notify user that you have entered duplicate value and transaction should also not been done. Means all inputs should be there rather than clearing textboxes that could be done when "Record Inserted."

I want to select dates that also fallin the range. Heres the scenario: I have an event from 01/20/2010 TO 01/25/2010. So right now it would only return a date of 01/20/2010. How could I return 01/20/2010, 01/21/2010 , 01/22/2010, 01/23/2010, 01/24/2010, 01/25/2010? Mind you only a start and end date are in the database.

Say I have a table called "Visits", and I want to create a query that counts the visits per day. The way I would accomplish this would be to create a query as such:

The problem I am trying to overcome is that if there were no visits in a given day, that day does not show in my list. For example, if there were 3 visits on the 1st, 2 on the 2nd, none on the 3rd, and 5 on the 4th, my result set would look like:

How can I create my query so that I get all days in the date range listed in the result set regardless of whether the VisitCount is zero?

The only control I can see which allows me to wire-in to a date based X-Axis is the Stripline So, I get today's date minus my earliest date in the dataset in days... No problems. So to set up the Stripline I try something like:

and ends up looking like: Today is where the second shade begins. This is fine, but it is looping over 12 months. The number of days since it began is 399 days. I was hoping that would have actually meant the offset was 399 days. Am I trying too hard with the wrong class? Is there something else I should be using?

I have a text box , i need to check restrict user to enter minimum 5 character and maximum 50 character using range validator.
We are writing a feature that allows an administrator to block/allow ranges of ip addresses.
Is this easy enough to do with c#?
I was thinking of looking at each number [here].[here].[here].[here] and then mathing it with the ranges and just seeing if each number was between the two?
Will that work for standard ip v4 addresses?
