I have to create a textbox in asp.net mvc2 web application?
am trying to create view form in my MVC2 applicationIn this i have a submit button which is an imagebut when i try to run it shows a normal windows button the image is not shown(the image is a round edged).the code is as below:
<input type="submit" value="Log On" id="login_button_75" />
#login_button_75 {
background:url(images/login_submit_button.png) no-repeat;
height:28px;
width:75px;
background-position:center;
http://www.asp.net/learn/Ajax-Control-Toolkit/tutorial-47-cs.aspx
According to the above article you "Unblock" the zip file and then unzip it. You then create a new tab within the toolbox window and add the dll to show and use the toolbox items. However when I do that I'm getting the following:
'Request for the permission of type
'System.Web.AspNetHostingPermissio
I have successfully created controls that show up in my toolbox, so I'm pretty sure I have the process right. Also, my "AutoToolboxPopulate" is set to true, so things are showing up as I create them. My question is this: I'm sub-classing a native Control for specialized use. When I derive my class from an exposed concrete class, such as BulletedList, my custom Control appears in my Toolbox. However, when I drop it back to the parent, such as ListControl, my Control is not listed (actually it's grayed out when I "List All"). What am I missing?
View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a simple library for MVC2 projects that takes care of user login, e-mail validation, password recovery, logging, etc. Since some of these steps involve user interaction, I need to have Views and Controllers in that project.In MVC2 Preview 2, one could do this by abusing areas (at least, it seems) since they were implemented as different projects. However, in the RC, creating a new area will merely create a subfolder. Since I want to share the base code between applications, that is not an option.I tried to brutally hack the AfterBuild steps into my project files, but that feels like the craziest hack ever.

I'm trying to find the best way to implement Bing maps into my ASP.NET MVC2 web application.
I came accross MvcMaps Preview1 on Codeplex but it doesn't work good, at least for me. Maybe that's because it's for .NET 3.5 and VS2008, I don't know.
I'd like to avoid Silverlight. what should I use and what's the easiest way to get a Bing Map show some data on it?
I've successfully upgraded an web application from MVC1 to MVC2 but was wondering why the Binding redirect is required.I started have troubles with rendering views when it was removed ( strongly typed views switched model type to object ), despite have no more references to the original system.web.mvc in any project
View 8 RepliesI am currently developing an application with the new ASP.NET MVC2 framework. Originally I started writing this application in the ASP.NET MVC1 and I'm basically just updating it to MVC2.My problem here is, that I don't really get the concept of the FormCollection object vs. the old Typed object. This is my current code:
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public ActionResult Create(FormCollection collection)
{[code]....
What are the benefits of switching to FormCollection in MVC2 and more importantly - how is it used properly?

I'm developing a MVC2 application and using Forms Authentication on it. The scripts, images and styles are all blocked to unlogged users and, consequently, the login page looks awful. It works well local, the problem is when I publish to the server. Does anyone has any idea WHY? The server IIS is version 7.5

I created a web application using visual studio 2010 / MVC2 / MSSQL 2008 and it runs fine in my laptop. However when I run the application in the hosting provider it shows the error message below:
Compiler Error Message:
CS0308
The hosting provider is [URL] and the link to my web application is [URL] I would like to know how to solve this issue? If anyone know PLEASE let me know how to troubleshoot / fix this issue. Also in case the problem is on the hosting provider, let me know if you know of a free or very affordable hosting provider with support for MVC 2 and MSSQL 2008.
how to create a login form using the login controls present in the toolbox?

I want to create a custom Toolbox in asp.net which will contain all custom control that i have made. Now the user will drag these controls from custom toolbox at run time and create form. I tried but did not succeeded.
View 1 RepliesOK, I'm sorry if the tile of the question was unclear, and if you understand what I mean, please don't hesitate to help me think of a better one.
Anyway, I have a <input type="submit"> element for my form, and I want it to return the same URL as the URL of the page the element is on.
Currently, if I click the button, it takes me from /Calculate/Quadratic to /Calculate/QuadraticForm
In my controller for this view, I have the following code:
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Get)]
public ViewResult Quadratic()
{
ViewData["Root1"] = "";
ViewData["Root2"] = "";
return View();
}
[AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)]
public ViewResult Quadratic(QuadCalc boss)
{
ViewData["Root1"] = x1;
ViewData["Root2"] = x2;
return View();
}
And here is the markup and code for my Quadratic view page, which includes the form which includes the submit button I've been referring to:
<asp:Content ID="Content2" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContent" runat="server">
<h2>Quadratic</h2>
<% using(Html.BeginForm("QuadraticForm", "Calculate")) %>
<% { %>
<div>
a: <%= Html.TextBox("quadraticAValue") %>
<br />
b: <%= Html.TextBox("quadraticBValue") %>
<br />
c: <%= Html.TextBox("quadraticCValue") %>
<br />
<input type="submit" id="quadraticSubmitButton" value="Calculate!" />
<br />
<p><%= ViewData["Root1"] %></p>
<p><%= ViewData["Root2"] %></p>
</div>
<% } %>
</asp:Content>
Therefore, all I really want is to have the submit button return the same page, but the HTTP post will aid the application in passing new ViewData. Unless I'm interpreting this all wrong.
I have created a ASP.NET MVC 2 application in VS2010. It runs in integrated development server fine. But when i deploy that in IIS it gives me "The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory." error. Anybody know what went wrong?? There is no default.aspx page when creating a MVC2 project in VS2010. is that the problem? I can assure the routes are configured correctly in global.aspx.

I m sure this question has been asked before. I have a web application hosted underhttp://localhost/abc. which is mapped to c:inetputwwwrootabc folder. I have APP_Code, App_LocalResources, BIN and other folders under abc folder. Everything is great. Now I want to create another application or sub application
http://localhost/def. Both abc and def apps need to use some common classes and resources. Whats the best way to do it. I dont need to create a separate application for def. All i want is the url
http://localhost/def.

View 1 RepliesIts pretty simple to create a gridview like object with a strongly-typed view; it pretty much does it for you. I can also use a foreach and create the HTML dynamically. Same diff. (The process of getting that data from the controller to the view is still magical to me).
AFAIK, MVC doesn't support viewstate. MVC doesn't have a way to reference and set GridView1.Datasource = SomeDataSource; in the Controller either. So why is Gridview available in the toolbox when I can't set the datasource? Is the gridview useable? Is anything in the toolbox useable (outside standard HTML)?
