My SQL Server db was installed before I installed VS2008. What happens when I create the standard ASP.net security it does not create the tables and SPs that are needed.
Would it be possible for someone to create an empty database with the relavant tables and SP etc and save it here or send it to me.
i am working with multiple table with some same columns, so here i want to use the concept of primary key and foreign key.primary key is very easy to put on any fields but, i dont know how to give foreign key and how to create relationship between same fields of two table.

I am trying to create my own profile provider based upon the tables I have made for my website, I have watched the video and read several articles on creating one, but none of them goes very indepth when you have several tables and groups to profile from. First: I have three groups
1. Employees
2. Customers
3. Applicants
PROBLEM: Video and tutorials don't show how to integrate groups into your profile. Based upon the UserId, I want to load only Table ID's into the profile. IE for a customer it would be

I thought everything was fine and then went through the labourious task of replacing all the usersids used a as a foreign key in all the tables. It was only after doing this and trying to log on I couldnt, and noticed the membership table was empty. I assumed (stupidly) as it had done the users/ roles it must have done the membership. As I have already re-assigned the old user ids I dont want to import again as the userid will chnage. So my question is: Can I create a membership for each of the users in my aspnet_users table? I have the passwords etc in varchar fields at min from old table.

View 1 RepliesI am using the built in database with the tables (i.e. membership, users, etc...). I created my own table (relationships), but when I try to create a row that uses the same email address it says "cannot create duplicate entries". I am not allowing duplicate email addresses in the membership table. That did not work because I couldn't convert System.Guid to long. So, I decided to do it by email address. I changed idRequester to requesteremail and the same for receiver. However, when I try another record with the same email address in either field, it does not accept it.

Quesiton. Should the tables that will contain the information that users will be putting in like resumes, contact information and such go into ASPNETDB.mdf or should it go into a separate database.
I have an ASP.net security database which is normally ASPNetDB.MDF however I have created the same database structure in MS Access. All works great. However, I need to add a couple of other tables but I can't find how to do that in VWD. I'm pretty sure I was able to when the first database I created was an MDF file but not in MS Access.

I am using EF as DAL.The information to be displayed is SiteId, SiteName, SiteDetails from one table.Associated to Site, other table Event_type has information about Events in the system with fileds like EventId, EventName, Event ScopeId.EventScope is another table with ScopeID and ScopeDesc Also, there is Site_Event_Implemnetation table that stores all the events associated to a site. View 4 RepliesI want to design a website which displays on loading two tables each with it's respective data from a csv file. Then every minute the website automatically refreshes. This problem seems so simple! But yet the solution eludes me.
All of the files will be contained in 1 directory, not on a server but on a local machine. Such as sitting on the desktop. I understand if I use javascript I have to use ADO, and I'm still trying to work out how to use ASP. I am new with both languages. So far the only restriction is that I can't use PHP. So the jist so far as I can think right now is:
1. read the file
2. place the file into an array by splitting at the commas
3. write the array into td's ?????
4. then print all this out into a div ????
I have googled my heart out and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. or even piece together what I'm looking for. Everything with javascript and ADO's leads me to dead ends, I can't find anything on ASP that is helpful. Could someone write up some sample code for a resource? Or have a better solution?
i have a form view that takes fields from two tables 'Contract' and 'volunteers', however because i used a query builder,i have to input an insert statement. How do i create an insert statement for two tables in one query?
View 4 RepliesI have a table that contains item data. If the item is a particular type further information exists to describe the item. The additional information isn't that heavy however the number of records in relation to the main file will be quite small (less than
5%).
So I have 2 scenarios:1) Put the additional data in the main table and take tha hit on storage
2) Create an additional table and link the 2 together
If we were talking huge amounts of data I can understand that 2) would be the obvious choice but given the simplicity should 1) be a consideration?
If 2) is the answer - is it possible to create a dependency between the 2 tables when the item is 'that' particular type. In other words wnsure the addition data is populated for the required items and not others.

Now I am stuck with an issue for which I can't seem to find out answer on web. The issue is :
I have two tables mapped as entities - Tenant_Definition and Contact
Tenant_Definition { Tenant_ID , Desc, Contact_ID}
Contact {Contact_ID, Company_Name,Company_Address,Person_Name, Person_Phone_Mobile}
My View has to present a form that shows Tenant Desc and Contact related fields. The index view works fine and shows the desired values.
But, the create view isn't working out. In the create view, i am planning to do -
1. creating a new contact entity instance and saving it in db
2. Then creating a new tenant entity instance using the new contact_id and save it to the DB.
However, the code doesn't seem to be inserting any value inside Contacts table. It inserts null value.Below is the code snippet of my Create Controller -

I have used a microsoft tool before that was allowing me to automatically generate admin web pages from database tables. By admin web pages I mean pages that allow me to do CRUD operations on my tables.
View 1 RepliesI am working on a multi-lingual application Assume the following:
Database has 50 tables and application has to support 5 languages
Which is the best way to design the database:
1. Include a langugae column for each table. Repeat the values for each language. Say i have a country table which has 100 countries in it. Then my design will contain 500 rows (100 for each langugae)
2. Create a separate table which will contain the translations for all the 50 tables in with a foreign key to the parent table.
Which is more efficient out of the above two.
The problem is I had to create a draftResult class in order to show data that resides in two different tables using linq which means if i want to add or remove a column i will need to do so in the draftresult and in my linq. Here's what my setup looks like: I have two tables (draft, lookUpStatus)

I want to list the draft name and the status title in a table view. In order to do this, I wrote the following linq in a method in my sqlRepository class and return it to a IQueryable<draftResult>. My controller instanstiates the sqlRepository object and invokes GetDraftListing().
