How To Force User To Type More Than Any Number Of Characters In Password Field
Mar 11, 2010
I want to force user to type more than 6 characters in password field.we cannot usee range validator because password characters can be mix(i.e.Numeric or alphabates or special characters)
Using C# and sqlmembershipprovider forms authentication, is there a way to force user password to expire and need to be reset after x number of days?
So if a user launches the website login.aspx page, when they type their userid, it will check if the password is expired and direct them to a Resetpassword.aspx page?
I want to force the user to change his password after his first login. Now, where should I put the redirection code to ChangePassword page ?
If I put it in the Page_Load of Default page, user can move to any page because he is Authenticated. If I put it in the Page_Load of Master page, the ChangePassword page uses the same master page, and it'll enter in an infinit loop of redirections.
I though of ignoring the redirection if the Page is the ChagePassword page from the Master page, and I found this answer which says:
This sounds like a bad idea to start with. The idea of the master is that it shouldn't care what page is there as this is all common code for each page.
I have a PDF document with a number of text fields, several of which have a maximum length - namely, a maximum number of allowable characters. Is there a way using iTextSharp to determine this setting? Here's the code I have so far:
Dim reader As New iTextSharp.text.pdf.PdfReader("Foobar.pdf") Dim inputFields As IDictionary(Of String, iTextSharp.text.pdf.AcroFields.Item) = reader.AcroFields.Fields For Each key As String In inputFields.Keys Dim PDFFieldName As String = key Dim MaxFieldLength As Integer = ??? ... Next
I need to set MaxFieldLength to the number of allowable characters for the current form field being iterated over.
My problem is that unless I create my boolean value in the model to be a nullable type, I can't force the blank default value.
If I use the Html.DropDownList() instead of DropDownListFor() , is there any way for me to use ModelState.IsValid -- or do I need to mix my own custom validation in my controller as well?
Update: So I got the functionality I was looking for, its just a bit more verbose than I'd have liked. Is there a better way to do this?
Controller:
[HttpPost] public ActionResult Add(InventoryItem newItem) { try { //get the selected form value string formVal = Request.Form["TrackBySerial"]; //convert to true, false, or null bool? selectedValue = TryParseNullable.TryParseNullableBool(formVal); //if there is no value, add an error if (!selectedValue.HasValue).....
I am using Forms Authentication in a new ASP.NET 3.5 Application.I have created the Tables in my database and run the Web Site Administration Too.When I try to create a user I get a password error no matter what I throw at it and I am becoming sure of that this is a symptom of an a setup error and not a password problem. One of the things that I notice is that my aspnet_Applications is empty and I am not sure what is supposed to fill it.I have tried to delete all the aspnet tables and done the procedure again but with the same result.
I have a data type mismatch while inserting into a number field in an access database using a parameterized query.I think this should be pretty simple but I am still learning a lot.
[Code]....
I have some commented out as I am working one field at a time. The working fields are textboxes and the non working ones are dropdown lists. But I think it may be the field that the list is drawing from? Not sure.
I have created a test user/password on my web site. The intent is to have prospective clients login and try out the tool. Instead of telling them the userid/password of the test user, I'd like to tweak the Login wizard.
In the Load event, I was able to specify login1.UserName = "test user"
But when I try to specify the password, I'm told it is a readonly field. How can I 'force' a specific password? Or, how can I call the login event directly and pass the needed values?
I have a form that is used to add and edit data. Based on a dropdown selection, the form is either prepopulated or left blank so you can add new data.
I have a password field that is set to TextMode="Password" and works fine when adding new data, it displays ***** as you type..
Now if you select from the dropdown and there is already a record on file, it populates the form to allow you to edit the information.. Now i DONT want to display the password in plain text, but i want to populate the field so if they make any changes all field data is kept and table is updated with all of it.
I already debugged the page and my variable is being set with the password, but the textbox doesnt even show the ***** for the password value.

Do I just need to make a field for account type in my user account table? In a technical way, if(account type = admin) then the account would log as admin; otherwise, a user with less privileges.
I am devloping web application using csharp on visual studio. I am asking for a tutorial or urls that is showing on how to ensure that in a password that is being typed in has special character like! * ^ $ and some Capital letters. So that if someone tries to type a password with including these characters and some capital letters it refuses to accept that passord
i need a regular expression validator for password that should not allow some of the special characters like % ' " ; *. give me the expression such that it should allow special characters except the above and a numeric a capital letter and a small letter ...
I use this query for my table but it retrives the value for each row. It does not retrieve the size of the column name. I need to know the number of characters occupied in particular column. How do i get this value?
How can I set a asp.net text box to accept up to 20 characters? I was trying the range validator and I set it up to 0 min value and 20 max value. The prolem is that if I write 12933, the range validator errors appear saying "only 20 characters allowed" so I think it is adding the values.
On my current form I have it validating a Canadian Postal Address (xxx xxx). The space is optional but if the user does not use a space, then once the validation passes it will insert one. How can I count the first 3 characters of the textbox, insert a space, then add the rest of the characters?
I have a form that's used to submit emails. I'm not sure what the character limit should be for the body of the email. I'm thinking about setting it at 150. It's used to allow people to inquire about services provided by a small business. Should I allow more? Is this sufficient?
On my products page I have a small thumbnail and a description that is pulled from the database, since there is space restraints, how do I allow a max amount of characters, and if the description is longer append ... to the end? I'm using a data repeater and data binding for the content inside it.
My company has some unique password policies (such as a pwd cannot be re-used for 6 months, aside from the must include #, special character, upper & lower case)Can anyone suggest how to go about ensuring that a new user's password complies with these policies (using forms authentication in .net 3.5 framework)?
