View 2 RepliesI had called the data from query to data table and now i have a gridview in which i am using one datalist and 2 text boxes and and reming coloumns are bounded iahve to assiaign them values which datatable have either null or any value.
View 2 Repliesi have a datagrid. which display some values which is already inserted and that is fetched from database.but from the datagrid i need to insert the values to database. how to find in which row a new record get inserted and to pass all the values to database

In a aspx page I am displaying records in the datagrid control. I have added one more column to the datagrid in my aspx page and this column is the template column which contains the checkbox control for each of the records. Then I have two buttons a) Display and b) submit
When i click Display button I get all the records in the datagrid from the database(about 700 rows). Then when I click the checkbox for a few rows and click the Submit button then it redirects to another aspx page (i have given response.redirect) . But sometimes when i click a few rows and then click the submit button the screen goes completely blank and it even does not redirect to the next page as specified(in the browser URL the initial page name is only shown).
I am creating a web page where i need to enter maks for the student of a class. So i queried the students regno from the database and bind it to the datagrid and i've added a template column which contains the textbox to enter the marks of the student...
The problem i face here is whenever i take the value from the textbox(template column) using theFINDCONTROL it returns only the NULL string...i have given here my code
[Code]....
the value is null even if we enter some values in the textbox
I am using the following code to update the data in my datagrid.
But when I click update the value is updated in the database but it still shows old value in datagrid.
If I refresh the page after that then datagrid shows the updated value.
Code On Update Command:
protected void MySQLDataGrid2_UpdateCommand(object source, DataGridCommandEventArgs e)
{
string newData;
TextBox aTextBox;
aTextBox = (TextBox)(e.Item.Cells[0].Controls[0]);
newData = aTextBox.Text;
decimal comm = Convert.ToDecimal(newData);
string UpdateHiveCommission = "Update tbl_HiveCommission set Commission = '" + Convert.ToDecimal(newData) + "'";
MySqlConnection objMyCon3 = new MySqlConnection(strProvider);
objMyCon3.Open();
MySqlCommand cmd3 = new MySqlCommand(UpdateHiveCommission, objMyCon3);
cmd3.ExecuteNonQuery();
objMyCon3.Close();
MySQLDataGrid2.EditItemIndex = -1;
MySQLDataGrid2.DataBind();
}
I seem to recall that it was possible to supress repeated values , or am i wrong?

i have a DatagridView which contains 5 columns. The Fifth Column can contain a number or a NULL value .
I need to edit the DataGrid it in such a way that the fifth column is hidden everytime.
And on a specific condition that if fifth column is not null , then display the value which is present in fifth column ,in a small subscript below the the corresponding element in first column .
I want to prepare a excel sheet where the data can be populate from the datagrid.
I dont want to create another datagrid to delete the controls.
Can any one share the C# code?
Im basically listing a set of facilities in a datagrid. Like so:b Projectorcb Laptopcb TelevisonIn roomview, a check appears where a facility is availble in a room. This part works fine.The user can then edit the facilities, by clicking on the check beside each facility. When the update button is pushed I need to record the value of the checkbox, however I cant get the value of the checkbox.eres my codebehind:

I'm trying to populate a datasource for a dropdownlist (which is actually in an insertitem template field within a detailsview on the same page) with a selectedvalue from a gridview. When I select a row in my Gridview 1, I get the "no value for a required parameter" message. ( and I have tried various alternatives... setting the selectedvalue of the grid to a variable... setting the selected value of the grid to a textbox nothing seems to work. It seems like this should be a pretty simple thing. I think I'm missing something obvious! Here is my code:

I have take a datagrid view and now i want to update the records as the database is been normalized i need to enter the multiple rows at once. How you I convert the datagrid to enter the data so that it would be easy for me to update the records?
View 1 RepliesI have a datagrid whose columns are autogenerated (based on the results from an SQL SELECT query). However, I need to retrieve values from certain cells across the datagrid, using the following code to step through the results.

I need to specify all my columns using TemplateField?
I want to dynamically bind dataset values into datagrid's header datafield.
Is it possible? To be more clear, when you click on datagrid's (Collection) from properties window, you get selected columns created from Bound column. So in those columns I want to dynamically display dataset's table values in those columns.
i.e like ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0].
Is it possible to do it in Datagrid ItemDataBound function like,
e.Item.Cells[1].Text = ds.Tables[0].Rows[0][0]
or something like this? I know the above code is wrong and wont work since I tried it out and while building it throwed error saying, Cannot implicitly convert type 'object' to 'string'.
I have 2 grids gvParent & gvChild I would like to filter gvChild when a row is selected in gvParent the linking fields are contractNo
I added a column for selecting:
<asp:TemplateField ShowHeader="False">
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:LinkButton ID="LinkButton1" runat="server" CausesValidation="False" CommandName="Select"
OnClick="LinkButton1_Click" Text="Select"></asp:LinkButton>
</ItemTemplate>
</asp:TemplateField>
I know how to handle the filtering of the grid (create a criteria and set to rowfilter of the dataview) But, I dont know how to get the value of the column of the selected row.
I have Datagrid , i want to clcik on row and get data in textbox , but my textbox is FreeTextBox control,i tried to use javascript but work for asp.net control not working for freetext box control, how i can capture this code is sample code but it work for asp.net control but not working for my freetextbox

Simply put... I want to duplicate the example found at this link, in VB.net rather than C#.

I would like the selectedvalue of the dropdown to display additional data base on its selection in multiple text boxes.
I have tried using the DropDownList OnSelectedIndexChanged property, within a DataGrid EditiItemTemplate, but I cannot retrieve data from the selection. (AutoPostBack is "True"). I can however use a button onclick event to fire a "prre-defined" selection value.
I have a nested datagrid. I want to get header texts of child datagrid, bifore binding process.
Is there a way to do this?
I have 2 datagrid (using .net 1.1). I need to access column of second grid ( i need to make a column of second grid as disabled) when i click "Cancel" link button in First Grid. How can this be done?

View 1 Repliesi have four radio buttons and one text box..i have to check the selected radio button value equals to the textbox value..

I would like to store some business flags (like: isFavorite, isOnLive etc.) per an html table row that won't be visible to user.
In practice, I have a simple ADO.Net DataTable on my code-behind which is used as a data-source for a asp.Net GridView control.
This table contains some business flags on its 0th, 1st, 2nd columns.
I need to store those columns on the rendered HTML of the grid-view -so that I can reach them via JavaScript- but I do not want them to be visible.
Prior to using a ViewModel, I could easily pass the "soon to be edited" object directly to the view without needing to fuss over setting individual properties etc as the View conveniently accepted the Employee type directly..
[HttpGet]
public ActionResult EditEmployee(int? id)
{
EmployeeRepository ER = new EmployeeRepository();
Employee SomeEmployee = ER.GetEmployee(id.Value);
if(SomeEmployee!=null)
return View(SomeEmployee);
But now I'm using a ViewModel with DataAnnotations attributes applied over the top of various properties for validation purposes. Which creates a problem.. After fetching the "soon to be edited" object from the db, setting the ViewModel's values is suddenly a whole lot more complicated. I can't simply pass the retrieved object straight to the view, as the View now expects the VMEmployee type instead. I would like to be able to do something like:
[HttpGet]
public ActionResult EditEmployee(int? id)
{
EmployeeRepository ER = new EmployeeRepository();
Employee SomeEmployee = ER.GetEmployee(id.Value);
if(SomeEmployee!=null)
return View(new VMEmployee(SomeEmployee));
All paths seem to lead to a huge constructor which manually sets the values of each individual property. But I never had to do that before when I wasn't using a ViewModel. Model binding was a blessing! My objects also have complex child objects, which my form is also collecting values for, so this would be a huge/verbose task against DRY principals. I don't even really want to use a ViewModel, but am forced to because I need two different DataAnnotations rule sets for different validation scenarios applied to the same object.
All I want to do is be able to have two different DataAnnotations rule sets for different scenarios. I.e. public-facing www site vs internal-facing admin site. DataAnnotations doesn't seem to be flexible enough to easily cater for this common need. I've tried AutoMapper, but it throws an error saying it can't map my object types, I suspect because Employee was auto-generated by LINQ to SQL. What is the most elegant way to achieve this while sticking to DRY principals?
