Feb 2, 2011I have noticed that when I create a website in a network drive and use the Ajax toolkit I get :
Element 'ToolkitScriptManager' is not a known element
I also noticed that after adding the ToolkitScriptManager it doesn't add the ID in the source code, it looks like this:
<asp:ToolkitScriptManager runat="server"></asp:ToolkisScriptManager>
Is missing the ID="ToolkitScriptManager1" part.
This doesn't happen when I create the site in my local drive. Is there a workaround to this. Even if I add the missing parts, I keep getting the same error.

Now I am having certain problems.
1. Visual Studio 2010 hangs when I try to use ToolBox.
2. Intellisense for asp.net controls is not working.
I have tried replacing web.config file (frm backup) , tried to debug - it doesnt show anything.
All other websites are working alright. Have problem with only one of the websites.

Jan 25, 2011I upgraded from VS 2008 to VS 2010 and now the AJAX elements are not recognised by the source code editor, e.g. UpdatePanel, ScriptManager, etc. I get warnings in VS and no intellisense for those elements. When I run the site, all the AJAX controls work OK though.

I want to group these two sets of controls.
When the user presses ENTER, having filled out TextBoxOne; the ButtonOne_Click event fires. And when the user has typed something into TextBoxTwo and presses enter; the ButtonTwo_Click event gets fired.
The way you would normally do this, is to have form elements surround each of the groups. But this is not possible in ASP.NET. And short of doing some "has-focus"-logic in JavaScript.

Apr 29, 2010I'm trying to optimize SEO readability on our websites and one issue I've come across is ASP.NET butchering the title element of my MasterPage. Entered as such in my MasterPage (manually reformatted to remove line breaks caused by the <% %> tags):
<title><asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="TitleContent" runat="server" /> - <%=WebsiteSettings.WebsiteName %></title>
This is the output I receive:

As you can see ASP.NET is adding preceding and trailing line breaks where the <asp:ContentPlaceHolder /> is substitute becaused Visual Studio auto-formats <asp:Content /> to start and end with a line break. Obviously, this can be prevented in the Visual Studio formatting options, but this is not ideal because I only would want to remove that behavior for the TitleContent placeholder and not the rest.
Is there any way I can ensure my Title is trimmed before it is rendered? I am using MVC so code-behind is not an acceptable option.

Aug 23, 2010I converted a forms website into an application and everything has been working just fine until now. I keep getting the green squiggly lines and the error that Element 'X' is not a known element. This is on almost every element, Gridview, Label, Update Panel, Hyperlink Field, Bound Field, etc...
my web.config contains

so ajax and asp are viable prefixes. The very odd thing is that it is only happening on a few user controls, all other user controls are fine and the errors never show up. I have tried rebooting and everything and nothing seems to fix it. All masterpages, web paages, and about 90% of the user controls are fine, its only on a few user controls and super annoying!

Jan 12, 2011I have a gridview which successfully binds to the database and gets all data. Now I have added a link button in one of the coloumns which does this:

Basically I am trying to get the datarow and get a MessageID. However the second line from above gives me outofbound exception.
