How To Hide Data Stored In Database From Domain Administrator Of Web Server
Jul 22, 2010
I want to make a secure website using ASP.NET, but when I publish it, the domain administrator can see all the data stored in my database (SQL Server). I want to hide my data and code from the domain administrator too. Are there any procedures to do that? give me the address of a good domain I can use, which will give me all administrative power of my website (Domain owner also cannot access my databases and files.)
But, it is showing the following error:SubStatusCode 'Response.SubStatusCode' threw an exception of type 'System.PlatformNotSupportedException' base {"This operation requires IIS integrated pipeline mode."} System.NotSupportedException {System.PlatformNotSupportedException} Headers 'Response.Headers' threw an exception of type 'System.PlatformNotSupportedException'
My IIS version is 6.0 where I published. Donwloading word document can be done only in IIS 7. So, this is the cause of the error. Is there any other way to overcome this problem? Any other code will support lower version??
in search.aspx page I have gridview that bind from database and show data according to Mobile or PhoneNumber that I typed in txtsearch in admin.aspx below are code
Now I want when I enter Mobile in txtsearxh and click button when it go to search.aspx page it in grid view it show Mobile number in HLcalss from database and it doesn't show PhoneNumber and Code in Hyperlink1 and lblCode
and if I type phoneNumber in txtsearch in gridview it showes PhoneNumber and Code and it doesn't Show Mobile number
I created a database with aspnet_regsql, the database was created in sql sever 2008 and not in data folder in my project (do I need to move it to the folder manually?). Next, in Web Site Administration Tool I went to provider section and clicked don Test button.
I got an error:
Could not establish a connection to the database. If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set the provider.
Maybe I need to set something in a web.config, like membership settings or connection strings (or ASP.NET Website Administrator Tool should create those settings for me)?
Update: Maybe it happens because I am using SQL server 2008 full and not express?
Update 2:
After setting membership section and connection string to my aspnetdb database in Web Site Administration Tool I've opened security->Security Setup Wizard->Define Roles (stage 4) I got this error:
An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again.
The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Unable to connect to SQL Server database. at

I am using SQL server 2008 . What i all want is to create a uses that can only see the ABCDatabase in Management studio onced login. And to achieve that:
1- I have created a new user. 2- Deny View all database right to that user. 3-Set that user as Owner of ABCDatabase
Now on login that user cannot see other databases but still able to see the system databases. How can i hide those system databases from that user?
How would I hide the pages that the user is surfing and just show him/her the domain name. E.G. www.google.com as opposed to www.google.com/index.aspx etc...
On the local development machine a number of users are administrators (using the asp.net administer website tool accessible via the login controls on the page).
When the site is copied to the production server, these users can still log in, but they are not administrators anymore.
I can use the same way as on the local machine to rectify this. And this works when the site is run of the development tool (visual web developer express 2010, i.e. local host).
However, the functionality (admin users can access certain websites (via if(User.IsInRole("Administrator") == true) is not working when the same code is run in the production environment real production server, not localhost). Somehow asp.net is not recognizing that users have been set to that role.
I have an application with 40 or so separate databases that share a number of identical table schemas. Each is for a separate agency that performs functions identical (nearly) to the others. I have a number of reports that involve complex queries that each agency is required to produce. There is a "top-level" agency that would like to run the same reports but have the data consolidated for ALL agencies. I have tried having the query generated simply re-produced for each sub-agency by using a "UNION" ..
SELECT .... FROM [Agency].[dbo].[Table] ... UNION SELECT ... FROM [Next Agency].[dbo].[Table]....
This works for a few agencies selected/included but when they try to select all agencies or more than a few, it fails because the query is too large. I have tested a stored procedure:
CREATE PROC Test @DB AS SELECT ... FROM [@DB].[dbo].[Table]...
Thinking I can build a smaller query by having up to 40 items of "EXEC Test (db) UNION EXEC Test (next db)" That also fails.... won't permit the database specifier as a parameter (plus, I don't know if I can do a UNION on the EXEC results).
I have over 500 stored procs within one database. I want to copy them all over to another database? What would be the quickess way to do it without executed each individual one?
I'm creating an ecommerce site using asp.net and a Access Datasource, I have used the pre-defined logging in and registering controls provided by Visual Studio 2010 which stores the user data in a SQL server.
For my site the content of the shopping cart is uploaded to a table in the access database, I need to however save the contents of the cart to a specific user ID. For example if User number 1 orders book id's 4,7,2 this needs to be saved, but if user number 2 comes along and orders 4,1,7 this needs to be saved for them as well.
So a user can have many carts, this is sorted in access but with the user ID being saved to a different database is there anyway I can link the two databases so I can say
"Save bookid's 1,2,3 in tblcart where userID is the same as the logged in user"

I am guessing it has to do with the size of hidden "__ViewState" tag in my ASP.NET pages.
I also realize that this is restriction imposed to by IT on the users end and I have no contol over it.
I disabled ViewState on all the controls in my ASP.NET pages. However, __ViewState is still generated very large (as always) to persist control-state (e.g. checkbox, radiobutton, etc.)
In gridview I have two link button that is "VIEW" and "DOWNLOAD" if I click "view" that pdf file will display in an other page if I click download that file will be downloaded.. how can i do this..
I have access to two servers, one with my development database on, and another with the live database on.
All SQL Stored Procedures, Functions, Views are encrypted on the live database (using WITH ENCRYPTION in my query)
However I'm concerned I might accidentally encrypt a bunch of SProcs on my development database meaning I can no longer view/edit that code.
I have full control over the server and database, and was wondering if there is a way I can prevent these from being encrypted, therefore throwing up an error when this is attempted?
