View 1 RepliesI have a RadGrid which has a column like:
<telerik:GridTemplateColumn HeaderText="Car" >
<ItemTemplate>
<asp:Label ID="MakeLabel" runat="Server" Text='<%# Eval("Make") %> />
</ItemTemplate>
<EditItemTemplate>
<asp:TextBox ID="MakeTextBox" runat="Server" Text='<%# Bind("Make") %> />
</EditItemTemplate>
</telerik:GridTemplateColumn >
and I'm wanting to set it up so that this column will allow input when inserting new values but won't when updating values.
I've got some textboxes in a panel, that I want to disable client-side upon radio button selection. I've got it basically working - but I discovered that javascript's control.disabled = true still allows the user to type in the textbox. So I've moved on to control.readOnly (in addition to disabled) - that seems to give the result I want.
Problem is, setting readOnly at the panel level doesn't seem to propagate down to the contained controls (the textboxes). I still have to call textbox.readOnly directly in order to get the no-typing-allowed result I need. And this makes the whole panel-concept useless for me in this instance.
Am I doing it wrong somehow, or is this just the way panels work (i.e., can only make textboxes readOnly by directly manipulating its property)?

I have a few field in my entity that i wish to be non-editable. Looking in the docs it seems like "EditableAttribute" would do the trick. However this is only 4.0Just wondering if there are other attributes that would have the desire effect. So be clear, i have a field called "DateRegistered" i wish to display this as string not text field using "Html.EditorFor"

Is it possible to allow an administrator to write to a readonly profile property by redefining the profile property in a web.config file used for administrators pages?
I have a unique account number which must be assigned to each new user (using the default asp.net membership provider). After reading a couple of articles it seemed it would just be easier to define it as a profile property instead of creating a custom membership provider. When the user makes changes to their profile on a profile page I create, I want the value to be readonly. When an admin views the profile I actually want them to assign the value to the property in their page.
I have an editable GridView and I would like to add dropdownlistbox for editable columns. Is there a way to do it? I want to bind the data also so the dropdownlistbox comes with values.
Here is a sample source code:
[Code]....
I want to make an editable gridview with 4 boundfield. When a row is selected, I want to edit the value of the 2 boundfield. Can I use edit, update commandfield?. Because when I tested it, all the columns of the selected row becomes editable.
View 4 RepliesI have a gridview with "Edit Update Cancel" command field. When I click Edit, all the columns in the particular row becomes editable. I just need to have 2 specific columns editable. How is that made possible ? (Screen Shot Attached) [In the screen shot all 3 columns are editable, I just need the second and third to be editable]
View 2 Replies I have a gridview with bound fields and a templateField that receives data from a submit button which, depending upon the selected object, i.e. dropdown 1, 2, or 3, return a result set. The gridview also has a checkbox column which is used as a marker to determinie the rows to be added to and existing table. If a user selects multiple row, those rows are written to the database. Everything works.
Now, I need to add additional functionality to the gridview:
Upon selecting the checkbox, programmatically the accompanying row must become editable; for each row presented.
Deselected the checkbox, return the gridview row to a read-only state.
There are 14 columns, one of which is a dropdown which needs to maintain its default value.
i have created an application which shows records from the database i have to make my grid view editable so that it will reflect into the data base
View 17 RepliesI have two pages; one page similar to a 'dashboard' displaying an incoming correspondence gridview and the other page 'incoming' displaying the same gridview of incoming correspondence. So my dashboard page is just a snap shot of what some pages have. So there are main pages that are being summarized in the dashboard. What I want to do with the Incoming gridview in the 'Dashboard' Page is once a user clicks a row in that gridview it obtains the correspondence id and redirects to the Incoming page and make that row in that gridview(same view or query as the gridview in the dashboard) editable.
What I have right now is I am obtaining the correspondence id for the row selected and redirecting to the Incoming page but have noo idea how to make that row editable in the gridview in the Incoming page.
i am working with jeditable plugin in MVC ,what I'm trying to do is click a button and all the fields a certain row become editable and automatically go to their editable state.. so, in other words, I have a table, I want to click Edit on the side of a row and all the columns in that row become editable .

View 3 RepliesI am using Gridview and on that data is binded conditionally.the problem is that at the time of editing whole row of the grid is in editable mode and i want only few of the columns editable. my code is as follows

I've got my data in the gridview via:
[Code]....
Now I need to make all the data editable (add, update, delete). Why isn't the Gridview the same as DataGridView? With the DGV, the data showed EXACTLY as it did in the database and one could add a record, edit a record, or delete a record.
In my project i am binding a gridview from session and i want to make it editable. i handled the rowediting,rowupdating and cancelediting event as suppose to and at run time i bound my data to the grid cells in the rowdatebound like this
if (e.Row.RowType == DataControlRowType.DataRow)
{ RequiredPaper paper = (RequiredPaper)e.Row.DataItem;
e.Row.Cells[0].Text = paper.PaperDesc;
}
and every time i click on the edit link in the grid view the cell never turns in the edit mode so i can not edit it!
<td id="btnIcOld" style="text-align:center;">
<img src="<%= VirtualPathUtility.ToAbsolute("~/img/chic/Load.png")%>" />
</td>
[code]....
the image is my button, and that is the JQuery that handles the button click. when you hover your mouse over the image, it stays as the basic arrow pointer. How do I make it change to a hand so the user knows they can click on it?
I am working in a asp.net page, Where I have a button "Edit Grid". I would like to make all the row editable when user click this button.

View 3 RepliesNote: Code is taken from this tutorial [URL] I currently have an editable gridview with only some columns editable by the user. In the background I want to record the time/date they have saved the data to the grid. This column 'Time' is not bound to the grid. Is there anyway I can still include this update when rebinding the newly edited data?
I'm also having a problem saving the updated data of my column ActivityTotal. I've been debugging that and following the variable, and it holds the correct value, but just doesnt seem to update. I am providing the codes below for both my gridview and the cs behind and would be grateful if someone could take a look, I assume it's a sort of minor sql issue on my part.
code
protected void UpdateButton_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { originalDataTable = (DataTable)ViewState["originalValuesDataTable"]; foreach (GridViewRow r in GridView_ABC.Rows) if (IsRowModified(r)) { GridView_ABC.UpdateRow(r.RowIndex, false); } // Rebind the Grid to repopulate the original values table. tableCopied = false; GridView_ABC.DataBind(); }
I have a table similar to:
ID...NAME.....HTMLTEXT
1....Footer....`<b>test</b>`
where each entry has some HTML text and an associated Name and ID.
What I want to do in ASP.net C# is to list each of these entries on a page in such a way that the HTML text should be displayed exactly how it is meant to be (e.g. <b>test</b> should show 'test' in bold) and each entry should be editable. When the Edit button is clicked on an entry, the HTML text should be replaced by a textbox with the text inside it so that you can edit it and save it.
For example:
FOOTER --EditButton--
TEXT
test
Now I am not sure on what is the best way to do this. Should I use a repeater with an ItemTemplate for each entry? If I use a repeater, and an edit button is clicked, how do I know which edit button is clicked and how do I know which textbox to display the text etc?
I've created 3 buttons, first button is to load the values in textboxes added to placeholder. Then button2 is to extract the data from button 1 and display out. Now the 3rd step, I want to edit the values from the textboxes, after edit, how do I grab and display out the new values in label and textboxes?
Code:
Partial Class _Default
Inherits System.Web.UI.Page
Protected Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
Dim x As Integer = 1
Dim message As String
[code]....
