I need to create a thumbnail solution in order to display pictures of products.
There can be more than 1 thumbnail per product and I need a way to enlarge the image as well. The thumbnails will be displayed in atleast 3 or 4 pages across the system and I need the ability to delete them as well. For version 2 of the software (knowing PM's it may be thrown into Version 1), I think I will need to be able to enhance this feature to allow movie clips so that's something I need to keep in mind. The images will be stored in the DB so I can sort the code to retrieve them but I'm originally a windows programmer and this is my first major ASP.NET project and also my first attempt at C#.
I have ran into an issue where I have to use ASP.NET to do a Thumbnail of images uploaded since the hosting company does not have any of the required ASP Classic 3rd party utilities that I can use. I have played around with several different Upload scripts before I found a tutorial on using: Uploadify (Love this script) with ASP.NET. [URL] What I am needing to do with the script is to create Thumbnails of the images that are uploaded, and when I try to do so, I get an IO Error. I was informed that I would have to create a Web Application instead of the Web Site as the web application would give me the default.aspx.designer.cs file for setting the FileUpload control as Public to be used in the upload.ashx file. But after doing that it basically breaks the code. What works in the Web Site, does not seem to want to work in the Web Application. What I would like from the .NET community is some help in making the Uploadify script to create Thumbnails. The script for the Thumbnails that I am using (or trying to use) is here

- In have a website where users can upload their photo and along with their profile.- I store the photo as binary data in database.- Using ASP.NET MVC 2.0 FileContent option, I display Photo back in the browser, when user view his/her profile detailsQuestion: Currently I am showing image as-is and not restricting width/height, so that users see exactly whatever image they uploaded as-is without distortion. However I want to do like every other website: Show only smaller image alwayswith fixed size and allow user to click on it to pop-up and show original image as-is in pop-up.NOTE: I can do this simply restricting width and height to fixed limits but still show original image. But in this case image is distorted as it was not originally designed for this dimension.This very basic question and I am seeing many options, including some libraries. But don't know what is best way to do this using ASP.NET MVC 2.0
View 1 RepliesI have a website that enable the user to upload pics to server (uploaded pics sizes are 300x400 and approximately 270kb). In my app. I am having another page that lists the pics and I am using there an image control for that purpose. The Image control sizes are 80px width, 60px height. My question is how can I improve the download speed by minimizing the images ? Do I have to create a thumbnail for each picture the user upload?

View 7 RepliesWe are planning to introduce Load balancing in our server environment. Our site has lots of thumbnails (Thumbimages) to get displayed on the website. As all the images should be there under Web directory to get displayed on web site, do I need to maintain these TNs in all the servers? Is there any other way to accomplish this?

I am working in a school and we recently installed a new server running WinServer 2008R2. I want to be able to point people to a URL on our intranet and have them fill out a simple registration form and have this data written to a database. It would also be nice to have some data auto-populate (such as their name).
Is it overkill to set up a sharepoint server and try to do this with Access Webforms? Could I use something like dotnetnuke and find a module that works? Or how about options for writing custom forms?
i am looking for a very simple way to display images on my form by retrieving them form sql database, by chosing their IDs.

View 5 RepliesI am new to ASP.NET. I have encountered a problem in navigating the database records that is displayed in the web form , the Next and Previous buttons. I have 4 imageboxes and 2 textboxes under each image box for displaying database records.
I am currently using an Access database with a table "Images" and there are 4 columns in it. "ImageID", "ImageDescription","ImageofPicture","Description".

Im using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express and have put together a custom form using ASP controls and labels.
I now need to update an access database with the data that is captured on the form. I have added an AccessDataSource but do not know how to link the fileds to the fileds within the database so that when I click submit it updates the table.
I'm new here and really, new to asp.net except the very basic things.
I am trying to create a very simple (I think simple) web form with five textboxes and three dropdown boxes and one submit button. The user enters information in the textbox fields and selects from the dropdown lists (which are populated from the database), hits enter and the database runs the query and returns information on a separate page (or can it return to the same page via panels?) The original page returned to a separate page using server transfer.
I have this page already existing in asp but feel that it would be much better served in asp.net.
Can someone point me to a post where I would guess this has been answered many times?
How do I submit the new data to the database, update the records and return the query?
I created a Class library for WCS service (MyWCFServiceLibrary) to access data form my database. The database connection strings have been defined in Properties->Settings.settings. The endpoints are defined in the app.config. Tracing and logging is set to write to files on local server. This service is hosted by a .net web service. This webservice refrences the WCF service using MyWCFServiceLibrary.dll and MyWCFServiceLibrary.pdb. The web service is hosted in IIS. All this setup is working fine on the development environment.Now I want to deploy this in the QA environment. Since I am a newbie with WCF, I would appreciate some help on what needs to be done for deploying this on the QA server.1. Do I need to recompile the MyWCFServiceLibrary.dll after changing the connectionstring to point to QA database and tracing and loggint paths to the new server?2. Is there anything that needs to be done with end points or anything else?

iam saving images in a database but while retreving it is showing blank images. i want to display as thumb nail images
In my website I have two forms: parent form and child form(dialog box). Their expected behaviour is like this: if clicked on 'show' button on parent form, a dialog form opens that displays a gridview. In dialog form, if clicked on 'select' button it closes
itself and returns value in selected row back to parent form.
To achieve this I write following code (.cs) : in parent form:
void ShowBtn_Click(object sender, EventArgs e)
{
StringBuilder jScript = new StringBuilder(); [code]....
Now problem is: the code in parent .cs works fine, it opens the dialog properly. But when clicked on 'select', instead of returning back to parent, it opens the same dialog again in new window. This newly open window says "Done but error on page" at left bottom.
I have 4 file uploader in my form to upload 4 images in the DB for each article submitted. My issue when I want update/edit my article with some new pictures and I want delete or update the old pictures with the replacement with the new one.
How I can implement it? I am using ASP.NET based on VB.NOT .... NOT C#
how to display image files which have been stored in Access 2007 as "attachments". The files are already in place as attachments to the database, and would be difficult to move in bulk to individual files. To store and call them individually by filename would have been my first choice, but they are already in place as attachments. At any rate, I have no problem connecting to and querying the database in asp.net for other fields, but have been unsuccessful in displaying these jpeg attachments.
View 4 RepliesIs there anything missing in IIS 6.0 that prevents me from (Insert into table) using MS-Access?
Explain: The application works fine under Visual Studio 2008 IDE the insert into table works fine with no error, Also I tested with hosting provider and works fine with no problem. but now I have published the same exact app in a dedicated server windows 2003 with
IIS 6.0 .NET framework 2.0 with latest service pack I gave IIS_WPG write/modify access to the folder where MS-Access database is located and database but at the time of insert an error pop-up. I need to install in the Server or settings in the IIS to recognize my MS-Access db is it some office runtime that I am missing. (BTW I am using OLEDB connection string in my C# )
Using System.Data.OleDb;
I can retrieve data off of it with no problem but when I try to insert is when it fails I thought the problem was Access Rights but I do not think is the case.
