MVC :: Application Pulling Out Seperate Links By Word By Searching Within Headline Table Row ?
Oct 31, 2010
I am having with placing an If statement to write a message of "please try again" if someones search query finds nothing within my headline table within my database.
I have got my application pulling out seperate links by word by searching within my headline table row but what I want is if there isn't a word associated from the users search to display the "please try again". The code I have in my controller and the view page is as follows :-
HOME CONTROLLER
using UniApp.Controllers;
using System.Linq;
using System.Web.Mvc;[code]....
how are you able to create a admin and member folder and seperate the links from the masterpage .The login and register is not done using the asp.conf is done using a customer table
Can any body tell me how can i perform searching in the asp.net website when a user enter searching word in a text box i want to search in whole website that entered word. am using vb.net as code
Here is what i would like to be able to do with the urls/routes:
1) www.domain.com/customer/home/index
2) www.domain.com/home/index
Where both the home controllers should be seperate controllers with seperate views and the company part should be an param for all the actions in the controllers.Now why i want to be able to do this is because of the following scenario: Each customer will have there own pages (which actually will all be the same for each customer but with different information per customer). The one without the customer is the general website where non customers can go to to become an customer or get information about the services we provide for them, they can sign up etc.
Is there any way to seperate development of different modules in a application other than using namespaces? I want to be able to define interfaces between the modules and unit test them seperately.
In my application I'm pulling back a user's "feed". This contains all of that user's activities, events, friend requests from other users, etc. When I pull back the feed I'm calling various functions to filter the request along the way.
var userFeed = GetFeed(db); // Query to pull back all data userFeed = FilterByUser(userFeed, user, db); // Filter for the user userFeed = SortFeed(userFeed, page, sortBy, typeName); // Sort it
The data that is returned is exactly what I need, however when I look at a SQL Profile Trace I can see that the query that is getting this data does not filter it at the database level and instead is selecting ALL data in the table(s).
This query does not execute until I iterate through the results on my view. All of these functions return an IEnumerable object.
I was under the impression that LINQ would take all of my filters and form one query to pull back the data I want instead of pulling back all the data and then filtering it on the server.
I have requirement where I need to allow users to upload a Word document with place holders for certain fields which can be found in the database. This will be their template. For example the place holders might be prepended with @@ or something. For example
Dear @@Title @@Lastname
They then can grab a record and hit export to Word document. This will then let them choose the template. They can select the template and then click continue. I will then get the template and replace the @@Title with the title field in the database for the selected record. I am not sure where to start or what components I need to do this.
From my initial investigation it seems that I can do this with the new open XML standard for Office 2007. So perhaps I should read in the template and save all the contents to a db table somewhere. Then when the use wants to export I get the contents again and then do a search and replace for the @@ placeholders and link them properly. Then save the document to the output stream again which will then bring up the save dialog on their browser.
I am using ASP.Net MVC and am in a hosted environment. I was also maybe contemplating dynamically creating a new View type and dynamically creating new views when the user uploads a template. Not sure that this approach will work though.
I am using asp.net 3.5 and Oracle Providers for membership and roles. Now, using CreateUserWizard i can make user register here but for storing custom information like First name, last name, address etc. i am using couple of custom oracle tables instead of Oracle Profile Provider. In this case, i am using the USERID field which is of GUID type as primary key. Now, my problem is that i dont know how to draw information from my custom oracle tables for those users who are currently logged in. I have searched a lot in this forum and elsewhere where there are many topics relating to it but i failed to follow any of them. So, i would request you to kindly guide me to solve the issue. Oracle Membership
Table(ORA_ASPNET_USERS) USERID=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx(some guid value) Username=abc and so on.. My Custom Table(UserProfile): USERID RAW(16), --> referenced to USERID field of ORA_ASPNET_USERS table fname varchar2(20) lname varchar2(20) I've the profiles of username "abc" having some userid stored in Userprofile table So, how can i fetch data from UserProfile table for the user "abc" when he is logged in?
First off I'm a week into asp so apologies in advance for silly questions! I am looking to connect to a SQL database table and allow the user to filter the table based on a search box on the asp page. I have written a sql query with a parameter in the where clause, a bit like this:
select col1, col2 from table where col1 like @my_parameter
Then I pointed the parameter to a textbox on my asp page, and this seems to work quite well. However, I would now like to add an additional search facility which would be a dropdown list. This would be sourcing all the unique values from the col2 in my table abve (there are only about 10 possible values here). But I don't want users to be able to use both of these searches at the same time.
So the bottom line is I would like to offer two methods of filtering the same data table, which search on different columns of the data table. Then the results should populate the same results table, but the user must only be able to use one search method or the other.
I have done a bit of research but couldn't find anything along these lines (I think it is becuase I don't know the words of the things I should be searching for!). I did find information on a standard postback event or cross page posting - not sure which of these (if any) is the best to use for a beginner?
I want to query an SQL table using some Web controls to provide the parameters for filtering the records in the table. Results are displayed in a GridView.
I have a TextBox with an ID of "keyword" where the user may enter one or more keywords. I'd like to search 2 columns for instances of these keywords.
I also have a DropDownList named "category" that lists categories contained in a "category" column of the table.
I have a dataset with a TableAdapter for the table I want to search. Got it working fine with the DropDown List but not sure how to proceed with the TextBox and keywords.
What SQL query should I use? The user may not enter anything into the textbox, they may enter one word, or multiple words.
This is where I am now:
SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE category = @category AND ??
I want to select data from a table where the user can search by 3 options; date, keyword, and type. The date will always be either today or a user chosen date. The keyword can be null or something the user inputs. The type will be chosen from a drop down and can be all or a specific category. I know how to search the date, but the other two create complications. I have created a stored procedure trying to figure this out:
[Code]....
Is there a way to say if the keyword is null then don't use it as a search criteria. If that is possible then type can use that same logic I suppose.
I'm using vs2010. I have a left column simular to a navigation area and I'm trying to figure out a way to display the FK links that appear at the end of a list as columns, in my navigation area. One thought was to place a duplicate table in the navigation area and hide all the columns except for the FK links. Is there an easier way to accomplish this.
I have users input links (like file paths and web pages links) to a database via a form. When they put file paths (e.g C:Program Files...) it stores them properly.However, I have a page in my application that pulls the links from the database so that the user can click on those links. For links which include spaces (like the one I just used as an example) it replaces the space with %20 ... This messes up my link and it doesn't work. How can I fix this?-I number records that are saved into my database in a specific way. I have an ID for each record which is a two digit number. For number that are low (1-9) I would like it to display as 01, 02, 03, etc. But if I save it in that form into the database, it goes from 01 to 1.How can I fix this? Users need to see it as 01, 02, etc...
Is there a way to copy a html table to a word document but it has to be exactly like doing it manually. Because i found some solutions but none was the same as doing it manually.
I was looking for functionality in SSRS 2008 that allows the creation of a table of contents when exporting to Microsoft Word.
I have not been able to find any examples and thought maybe I would have to use a 3rd party component. Has anyone had experience doing this in SSRS and if so could you provide an example.
What is the best way to do this. I dont have access to the database since it is firewalled. It needs to be done throught the web interface. I can generate a csv file and plug it into the word document, but it seems cumbersome to me. Is there any better way to do this?
I am in need of making a web application that has the ability to load word documents from sql server(onto the web page), edit them, then save them back to the database. I've read a couple of articles that show that you can integrate MS Word into .NET, so it looks like it is possible. My question is whether or not there are major security holes in doing so. Since I want to be able to save my changes back into the database, I am a little hesitant on what certain people might try to exploit if I do this.
