View 2 RepliesI want to have 4 links in the sidebar of master page which every other form (content page) in my web application inherits.
<table>
<tr>
<td width= "150px">
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ContentPlaceHolder1" runat="server">
<asp:Menu runat="server" ID="MainMenu1" CssClass="MasterContent" StaticSubMenuIndent="30px">
<Items>
<asp:MenuItem Text="My Software" NavigateUrl="~/MySoftware.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="Check Out" NavigateUrl="~/CheckOut.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="View Shopping Cart" NavigateUrl="~/ShoppingCart.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
<asp:MenuItem Text="Continue Shopping" NavigateUrl="~/Start.aspx"></asp:MenuItem>
</Items>
</asp:Menu>
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</td>
<td width="900px">
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder ID="ContentPlaceHolder2" runat="server">
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>
</td>
</tr>
</table>
This is the content in the master page as you can see there are 4 menu items i tried to form as sidebar and i tried to inherit in home.aspx(one of the content pages) as follows:
<%@ Page Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeBehind="Start.aspx.cs" Inherits="WebStore._Start"
MasterPageFile="~/Webstore.Master" %>
<asp:Content ID="StartSideBar" runat="server" ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1">
But unfortunately the sidebar is not at all getting displayed. I know i'm doing fundamentally wrong some where. My intention is to have web pages to have sidebar like this. It is a screenshot of my intended page.
I have various dll's that I am not directly referencing in a ASP.NET website I am attempting to publish via the "Package/Publish Web" feature in Visual Studio 2010.
How can I tell the publishing feature that it needs to include these certain files?
Note that I do not want to directly reference these dll's (the solution has specifically been setup in a way so that these specific dll's are not directly referenced).
I've found a <ExcludeFilesFromDeployment/> but I can't find a way to specifically include files.
I am developing one new area of a fairly large web application using MVC3 and Razor, where the rest of the application is ASP.NET 4 Web Forms based. Can I include my MVC components in this application, and what do I have to do to achieve this?

View 3 RepliesI've got two projects: a .Net 4.0 Console Application and an Asp.Net 4.0 Website (they are in the same solution). Now I'd like to include the console application (its .exe) in the web application, because I need to run it on the server when the user clicks on a certain button.
Now I would like to include it in a way that the console application will be updated whenever I recompile the solution, so it stays up to date.
So... how can I include my .exe in my web app?
I have an ASP.Net Application that sends text messages to mobile phones. It does this by sending an email. For instance, if your phone number is 555-555-5555 and your wireless carrier is Verizon, you can send an email to 5555555555@vtext.com and it will show up as a text message.
I want to be able to include a newline in the body of the message. How do I do this? Also please note that my ASP.Net program gets the message from a database (MS SQL Server) so what I really need to know is what characters to include in the message body when I store it in my database.
I already tried but it just showed up in the text message as
I would like to ask a plain and simple question about the Model-View-Controller architecture - should the UML Class diagram for my application include all the controllers and views and their relationships, or should it just include my model classes, i.e. the entities that are the heart of the application, you know - like in an ordinary application - i.e. User, Administrator, Student, Teacher, Course, Grade etc...?

View 2 RepliesI want to include view content page in my master page: My MVC application Left Menu MainPage. The Left Menu and Main page are two contentHolders in the master page. How can I add the Left Menu (View content page) to my Master page?. The Left Menu page is going to be a permanent page. The Content in the main Page is going to change. Left Menu content needs to be the permanent content for all other pages.
I searched in the internet, but I didn't find any solution that solves my problem. Basically I need some permanent menu items in the left page. But, I should not write the code in my master page. I need to add that Menucontent as my contentPage to the master. I have tried that by adding a New content page called "LeftPage.aspx" in View/Home folder.I have referred this page to the master "Left content holder". As the ASP.Net MVC talk to the controller, the left menu is not getting displayed while page loading.If i specify the ControlAction for this left page and specify the URL as //Home/Left ;then the page is getting displayed with only the left page content.
I am developping a ASP.Net webpage. I want to include a part (<div>) of another page (ex: google.com) into my page.
How can it be done?
I would like to have two .css files. One for each mastercontent page and one file for common elements. How to do this?
The following code doesn't work (css classes from Common.css file are not avalaible)
<%@ Master Language="C#" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.cs" Inherits="MasterPage" %>
<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head runat="server">
<title>Untitled Page</title>
<link href="MasterPage.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<link href="Common.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />
<asp:ContentPlaceHolder id="head" runat="server">
</asp:ContentPlaceHolder>

<form id="form1" runat="server">
<div id="Master_Header" CssClass="SomeClassFromCommonCssFile"></div>
</form>

I'm trying to use the default login page in my index page , as every page is using different control , what I'm trying to figure out is how I can use a different controller (something like include?) in a different page?
Or, if anyone has a better idea how not sends the user to a different logon page
I have just started with ASP.NET.
I like the idea of using Include files so that I can create various versions of individual parts of a site and decide in code which to display. I used:
<%Response.WriteFile("contentcontent.aspx")%>
to include a content.aspx file within my default.aspx page.
I would like to include a Left.aspx, Main.aspx and Right.aspx file inside the content.aspx file. I tried using the reponse.writefile function but noticed when I debug the website that the text "reponse.writefile..." displays instead of the code contained within the referenced file(s).
Can this not be done?
I am new to the domain. I want to include a CSS file in my master pages,but it is not working I give the link to the CSS externally as<link href="Stylesheet1.css" rel="Stylesheet1" type="text/css" />Is there any necessity to include CSS classes in master page if so how and where I have to include?
View 3 RepliesI have an aspx page that has a @Page directive which points to a c# class. e.g.
<@ Page Language="C#" EnableSessionState="true" ValidateRequest="False" Inherits="MyClass" %>
MyClass extends Page, which is the code behind class for that aspx page.Now I want to add another class to the aspx page. This class does some processing and will redirect the user to another page if certain conditions are met. It will be called before the above directive. I tried adding another @Page directive, but gotten an unknown error (literally). I'm thinking that there can only be one code behind class per aspx page so I got the error when I added another one. Googling such question didnt really help me with the answer.
I would like to include the asp clasic file in asp.net page. I am looking for something similar to :
<!-- #include file="inc.config.asp" -->
I have a classic asp website, onto which I am adding an asp.net (.aspx) page. Is it possible to include my existing asp header (header.asp) and footer (footer.asp) files on my aspx page?
I don't want to convert the page to a user control, because those pages include other asp pages with asp code on them.
I need an advice on how to include aspx page (code) in 3 other aspx pages. Why? Well, in included page I have a large amount of code that I don't want to copy/paste in other pages, and I want to make modifications just once in one file.I googled for suitable solutions, but didn't find nothing appropriate.

[Code]....
What sort of control can I use for this? Gridview, placeholder, etc.? One thing, though. This page will be a report, so it will need to be printed out. So it needs to be printer friendly.

I am using Asp.Net C# 2.0. My website is working fine in local. Website contains 2 js files included in master page. It works fine in local environment, but when i publish my website i get "Object expected" error on page load, and thus the js functions are not working in published website.
Currently i am writing <script src="/javascripts/jquery.hotkeys-0.7.9.js" type="text/javascript"></script> in master page.
