Installation :: Changed DNS Of Domain To New Server But Still Going To Old One?
Mar 10, 2010
Is this normal? Whois and my windows hosting account at godaddy both say the DNS records for my domain are changed to the godaddy ones, but the domain still points to the old server. Do I have to wait longer?

After some code change I have published my AJAXised web application to the server and the application failes to work properly - something weird is going on, as all .aspx pages are displayed as an ASPX markup text (page declaration, html controls, etc.), rather than a page is being rendered as an html. I have not changed the webconfig, only changed my pages' content/code behind.

I m using transactionscope and there was no problem until my domain changed.When it hits the scope7, it inserts the data and starts all over again and inserts for the second time.
Here is my sample code:
Using scope7 = New TransactionScope(TransactionScopeOption.RequiresNew)
Dim comm As New Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand("INSERT INTO ABC (ID, AID, Type) VALUES (@ID, @AID, @Type)", conn)
comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("@ID", TaskID)
comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("@AID", FormID)
comm.Parameters.AddWithValue("@Type", FormType)
conn.Open()
comm.ExecuteNonQuery()
scope7.Complete()

For our ASP.NET project for school we had to build a sport event management web application.
We provide the application in three languages (English, Dutch & French) which you can switch all the time. This has worked all the time for all users, well that's what we think anyway.
Yesterday I found out that switching from one to another language isn't working for 2 of our users. So I started testing a bit and I always got this error.
I'll try to explain what happens behind the doors when changing the language:
First of all the current language is saved in a session so we don't have to check the user row every time a page loads. Besides that we save the language in the users row in the database.
Users Table:
Id int
Unchecked
Email varchar(150)
Unchecked

I need help making selections on my installation of SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition onto my Laptop (the only computer in my house). I need to develop a couple of different databases and use them from my Visual Studio applications. Then I will upload the SQL databases and the Web Applications to GoDaddy for deployment to general public.My question is that installation is asking me questions I honestly don't know how to answer because I am using a different SQL this time around after reformatting my hard drive"
1. Do I use Default or Named Instance?2. Do I use the Built-In System account or a Domain User account?3. If answer 2 is Domain User then I am in trouble because I don't think I have a Domain, and I don't know what one is. Where would I find the user name, the password, and the domain?

I am working on the migration of the server. Our new server is Windows server 2008 with IIS7.0 I have a great difficulty in browsing the pages hosted in virtual directories. I have followed the proper steps of creating a virtual directories and converting them into applications. But when i try to browsing the pages of the virtual directory, i get the 404 error. Note: The .Net Framework 4.0 is installed on the server and the web applications which i am trying to configure in the virtual directories are developed in Visual Studio 3.0. Even the http://localhost also don't work.

We had a website deployed on IIS server remotely say www.liveserver.com.
We recently decided to make a copy of the website internal to the organisation so we brought a server and copied all the code from live server and configured it and say it is http//archives-testserver.com
Everything seems to work fine but while navigating and clicking on certain module links within http//archives-testserver.com......the domain name is getting rewritten to www.liveserver.com and user is made to navigate on the live site. I wonder where this configuration is with in IIS...
I looked under properties under website identification and everything is referring it as http://arhives-testserver.com. also thr is a file called securityRedirect.inc and ifor handling errors and all the references have been changed and couldn't find anything in web.config.

I am getting an error saying "ASPNET account is not present in this machine" when I try to install Sitecore on my machine after I installed visual studio 2008..
- My machine is running on windows XP sevice pack 3
- I installed Visual Studio 2008 and .NET framework version 3.5 SP1 on that machine
- I can see that ASPNET User group account Under Users and Groups and it doesn't have "Account is locked out" ticked under general tab
- Also I ran aspnet_regiis -i many times but didn't help; actually I red in one post that I should delete ASPNeT account first and run the script but still didn't help
- when I view http://localhost on IE I can view the ASP home page without any problem but Firefox asks me to enter user name and password.

I have a large DataTable cached in my web app that is the result of a complex query that returns a large data set. Whilst this data table is cached the query that runs to "refresh" this cache still takes a long time, largely due to the sheer amount of data being returned. In order to speed this up I am considering implementing a timestamp type approach to my tables in order to limit my query to only return rows which have changed.
I then intend to merge this smaller dataset with my cached datatable. Has anyone done anything similar to this, or is there anything out there that handles this already? I feel this could be a re-inventing the wheel situation if I dive straight in.

My feeling says it's not posible but anyway I am curious if there is at least a workaround for accomplish this.Basically I am working at my client site and my machine is not connected to the domain.What I want to do is running a web application locally under a domain account, and using the webdev server.The webapp uses the default authentication, windows authentication that is.I tried using impersonation with domainuser & password but I got the following error Could not create Windows user token from the credentials specified in the config file. Error from the operating system 'Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password.I have to mention that the username and the password are correct.

We have a ASP.NET site that partially depends on forms authentication for login credentials, however the implementation of IPrincipal is completely custom.
But, when running the site on a particular server (which is somewhat semi-hardened when it comes to security), the app crashes when invoking IPrincipal.IsInRole() with the following messsage:
System.SystemException: The trust relationship between the primary domain and the trusted domain failed.
This indicates a communication error between the web-server and the DC, however since our application doesn't at all utilizes Windows authentication, I don't see why it needs to communicate with the DC.
This is my implementation:
[code]...
EDIT:
I was finally enable to reproduce this error on my dev-machine (i revoked my machine from the DC yesterday, but didn't reproduce it until today)
HttpContext.User is actually a WindowsPrincipal by default it seems, and the error in my code was that I only replace it with CustomPrincipal upon login. Hence, unathenticated users still get the WindowsPrincipal which then fails horribly if you have trust issues on your AD.
I tried changing the default principal by invoking this on appstart
AppDomain.CurrentDomain.SetPrincipalPolicy( PrincipalPolicy.NoPrincipal);
But this doesn't seem to kick in. How do I change the default Principal in ASP.NET?

I have asp.net label called NumberLabel.It is changed from codebehind(asp.net/c#) by calculating the number of rows in an sql server table called "MyTable". Every time a user open this page,the same code/stored procedure is executed to bring the number. Is there a way to to bring the same number for all users and change it only when there is an update in "MyTable".this will optimize a lot time,executions,(SQL server side and webserver side).Does asynchrounous c# exist?or doing that by ajax.

I've searched high and low for a efficient and reusable way to detect, on a postback/server-side, if any input controls on a form have been changed and I haven't found anything other than client-side solutions such as DirtyUpdatePanelExtender. I've come to the conclusion that it must be either really simple or really complicated.Ultimately what I want to do is to perform a database update, or not, depending on whether or not the user has changed any input controls on the form. The only thing I've come up with so far is to save the original values as Viewstate variables and then compare them with the Request values on a postback, but that seems far from ideal.

So bit the bullet and installed vs2010 finally. However, when loading an existing vs2008 project, I am getting this error: "The project type is not supported by this installation." the only thing special about this project is that it's a "web application projects" type. what I've tried so far are these steps, but none of these solve my problem:
(1) run "devenv /setup"
(2) regsvr32.exe "%ProgramFiles%Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0Common7IDEProjectAggregator.dll"
