Is is possible to initiate a partial page update whenever a client makes an update (say inserrting a record) and this will update the panel of all clients who are actually viewing the page ie eliminate the use of a timer control to refresh the panel each second because am getting many problems when using timercontrol.

View 1 RepliesI am building a system for a school project. I currently have several Update Panels on the page that have many different controls on them. I also have a single Label control that i use to display messages to the user. I would like to have this label within an update panel also but there are literally hundreds of triggers that would require it to be updated and i dont want to type an absurd number of triggers for this one control.Is there a way for me to have this one panel update regardless of what happens?

View 10 RepliesI have an interesting problem when using partial page update in asp.net with scriptmanager and a update panel.
My scenario looks like this: I'm using the tab control from the ajax toolkit. I also implemented this control using lazy loading, so that when the page is loaded only the current tab gets loaded all the other tabs don't get rendered, because Im using an UpdatePanel (on a .ascx control) on each of these tabs and when a tab gets selected the updatepanel makes a async postback to load the content for a selected tab.
On one of my tabs Im using a combobox control from obout.com, and it doesn't work. Now I know why it doesn't work. It doesn't work because the control is shown via a partial page refresh, but to correctly display the control it has to do some "magic" that is - register some .css and .js includes on the page (in the head I guess)....but because I load this control via async page refresh.
I have a page with a (gridview nested within a gridview) in an UpdatePanel (UpdateMode="Conditional"). The nested gridview drops down when you click on an arrow and then you can click on each subgrid rows command field. The gridviews are loaded from the Page_Load event. When I click on the commandfield in the subgrid the Page_Load fires during the partial page postback. From what I have read this is normal with UpdatePanels. But What I don't understand is why both Page.IsPostBack and ScriptManager.GetCurrent(Page).IsInAsyncPostBack test false after I click on the command field in my grid. Ive came into a problem when using partial page update. The javascript doesn't fellow. What i want to do is when i call a partial page update some of the update have controls that require a javascript code to be executed. When the partial update is done that javascript isnt here and cannot be found. So what is the best way to make a javascript file to fellow a partial page update ?
View 1 RepliesI have a page has Listview and Datapager inside UpdatePanel. When I refresh the new SQL results and bind by pressing link buton outside of the update panel, I get correct results. (get new SQLselect statment, rebind to listview, update updatepanel)
However, the SelectCommand is not bound right or some other reason, if I press datapager, I won't get no results.
I'm guessing it's caused by not passing new dynamic selectcommand since my datapager and listview works first update.
I have three panels on a page:
panel_A has a gridView gv1 with PageSize = "5" OnRowCommand = "LoadCompanyInfo" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging1"
Panel_B has gridview gv2 with PageSize = "5"
OnRowCommand = "SelectEmployee" OnPageIndexChanging="gridView_PageIndexChanging2"
Panel_C has labels CompanyID, CompanyName, EFirst, ELast and EMiddle.
Panel_A panel_B and panel_C are in an update panel.
Each row in gv1 is a LinkButton, so if I click on a row, it runs a method 'LoadCompanyInfo' which updates the labels in panel_C and also populates the gridview on panel_B. This part is working fine, when I click on a row in gv1, it updates the labels text in Panel_C and populates gv2 in panel_B. I am having the following issues:
1. When I click on a row in gv2, it makes the labels text in panel_C blank and gv2 also becomes blank, shows EmptyDataText. I expect it to just update EFirst, ELast and EMiddle. in panel_A.
2. When I click on the next page no on gv1 it fires LoadCompanyInfo method first and then goes in the gridView_PageIndexChanging1 event. I expect it to go in the gridView_PageIndexChanging1 event only and show next page in gv1 and not in LoadCompanyInfo, because I am just clicking on page no 2 not row 2.
3. gv1 refreshes on a timer event OnTick = Timer_Tick, and it clears off data in panel_B and panel_C. I want it to just update panel_A.
I guess I will have to set up nested Update panels to accomplish this.
I am new to asp.net, so this might be a basic question. But I am struggling on this for more time... I have loaded a COM object in Server script using code behind (C#) and that COM object will trigger events in some random interval. I need to update the client page whenever I receive an event from the COM object from server side (code behind).My question is, Is there a way to make the client page do postback from the code behind(C#)? ie., The client page needs to be updated whenever an event occurs in the server. Is that possible? The com event does not trigger a postback since it only occurs in the server and not in the client.

I use this user control in more than 1 location on the same page.... problem is, when ucA posts back, I see the update progress control for both ucA and ucB. I assume this is because it is a user control and the update panel and progress are named the same?
Either way - how do I make it so that the update progress only displays for the proper user control?
I've exempted the irrelevant bits of code. Essentially, I am trying to change the URL of an image control inside of an update panel inside of a custom user control from a function called inside an update panel from my main page. Using UpdatePanel.Update() isn't working: I end up waiting for the next full page POST to occur before all the updates I make to CustomControl from buttons within the main page's update panel are visible. I verified that Update() was being called via the debugger: there are no issues in that department.
Here, you can see Custom Control and the Button declared. The button is in an update panel to avoid giving a full POST and causing the whole page to reload.

This control stores images within their own seperate update panels because rerendering the images is very slow (it requires processing arrays of millions of datapoints) and the user only ever needs to modify one image at a time. I'm using Image1 as an example.

SEARCHRESULTS needs to have the form data fed to it from the SEARCH partial view. I'm not totally sure how to go about this. At the end, i found out every times the page is changed, it reload full page even it have the same master page. I have confused the frameset with the master page. Then, i have 2 in my minds to achieve it by not using master page.

I'm trying to place a user control inside an UpdatePanel.
When the control is displayed, typing inside the TextBoxes has a large delay while in IE (6 & 8). FireFow has an excellent performance. Not only typing, but also scrolling etc experience a large delay up to a few secons.
The usercontrol(s) contain quite a lot of javascript functions that are re-registered using the ScriptManager.RegisterScriptBlock or RegisterStartupScript functions.
why typing becomes so very slow? I believe it has to do something with memory leaking due to the re-registering of the jQuery functions. But I'm unable to find the source of it.
i have one label out of update panel and one button inside update panel. in button click event i update the label text. when i run the code and click on button then partial postback occur and button click event fire but label value is not change. if i put the label too in the update panel then label value change at the time of button click. i do not understand why label value is not getting updated. suppose if i want that label should stay out of update panel and label value should change at the time of partial postback then how to write the code. i dont want put the label in any update panel.

While I am having no problems getting a POST delete to work, Iam having issues getting the partial view to update properly to reflect the deleted data.The table resides in a strongly-typed view, Errors.ascx, which is called in my Index.aspx page.
