Is It Possible With Dynamic TSQL Query

Jun 3, 2010

I have very long select query which i need to filter based on some params, i'm trying to avoid having different stored procedures or if statements inside of single stored procedure by using partly dynamic TSQL.I will avoid long select just for example sake

select a
from b
where c=@c
or d=@d

@c and @d are filter params, only one can filter at the same time but also both filters could be disabled. 0 for each of these means param is disables so i can create nvarchar with where statement in it...

How do i integrate in here dynamic query so 'where' can be added to normal query. I cannot add all the query as big nvarchar because there is too many things in it which will require changes ( ie. when's, subqueries, joins)

Sql - TSQL Grouping And Ordering For Dynamic Table?

Jun 7, 2010

I hoping someone may be able to point me in the right direction for this. Basically Im writing an asp.net web control to dynamically display a set of data based on field data stored in the database.

I want the control to create a dynamic asp table from a set of data from the database, however I cant get my head round the query needed to order the data into a list that I can create a htmltable from (if that makes sense)

my data looks like this, where I have a field name, the order the corresponding control will be rended in, and the number of columns that control takes up in the asp table:

Id | FieldName | ColumnSpan | Order ...
-----------------------------------------
1 | UserName | 1 | 1
2 | FirstName | 1 | 3
3 | LastName | 1 | 4
4 | Email Address | 2 | 2
5 | DOB | 1 | 5
6 | Notes | 2 | 7
7 | Password | 1 | 6
8 | UserID | 1 | 0

I have made a couple of attempts at creating a stored procedure that accepts an integer representing the number of columns the table will have, with no real progress. I would like the query to return something like the following (if the input parameter was 2 (columns)) - where the fields are grouped into logical rows

row | FieldName | Order
------------------------------------
1 | UserId | 0
1 | UserName | 1
2 | Email Address | 2
3 | FirstName | 3
3 | LastName | 4
4 | DOB | 5
4 | Password | 6
5 | Notes | 7

DataSource Controls :: SqlDataSource And Parameters Query / Trying To Accomplish Is Building Dynamic Query

Aug 22, 2010

1. I have a GridView on my page and it uses sqldatasource with parameterized query. What I want to do is, on page load (where nothing has been selected so no parameter supplied), I want it to query everything (something like SELECT * FROM [this_table]) but since my SelectCommand is something like

SELECT * FROM [this_table] WHERE [this_column] = @someParameters AND [that_column] = @someParameters.

Can I play around with default value to achieve something like that but how ? Now, when the page loads, it doesn't show anything (No Gridview).

2. On my page, I made something like (username, gender, address, and more) and one single search button. That means, no single control enable auto postback. What I am trying to accomplish is building dynamic query

(if username specifed -> SELECT * FROM [this_table] WHERE [username] LIKE @username).

If both username and gender are specified (SELECT * FROM [this_table] WHERE [username] LIKE @username AND [gender] = @gender) and you know the rest. How can I do this using GridView and SqlDataSource ? To my knowledge, I can only specify one SELECT statement in a sqldatasource.

Tsql - .Net MVC Best Way To Update Cached Table

Apr 19, 2010

There are certain tables that get called often but updated rarely. One of these tables is Departments. So to save DB trips, I think it is ok to cache this table taking into consideration that the table has very small size. However, once you cached it an issue of keeping the table data fresh occurs. So what is the best way to determine that the table is dirty and therefore requires a reload and how that code should be invoked. I look for solution that will be scalable. So updating the cache on single right after inserting will not resolve the issue. If one machine inserted the record all other on the farm should get notified to reload the cache.

Generate Membership Password Hash In Pure TSQL

Feb 17, 2011

I'm attempting to create a pure t-sql representation of the default SHA-1 password hashing in the ASP.Net Membership system. Ideally, what I would get would be this:

UserName Password GeneratedPassword
cbehrens 34098kw4D+FKJ== 34098kw4D+FKJ==

Note: that's bogus base-64 text there. I've got base64_encode and decode functions that round-trip correctly. Here's my attempt, which doesn't work: SELECT UserName, Password, dbo.base64_encode(HASHBYTES('SHA1', dbo.base64_decode(PasswordSalt) + 'test')) As TestPassword FROM aspnet_Users U JOIN aspnet_membership M ON U.UserID = M.UserID

I've tried a number of variations on the theme, to no avail. I need to do this in pure T-Sql; involving a console app or something like that will double the work. So if anyone can supply what precisely the syntax should be to duplicate that password from the ASP.Net membership stuff

Include Dynamic URL In My URL Without Using Query String?

Jan 18, 2010

ASP.NET 3.5, IIS7,In my Global.asax's Application_BeginRequest, I need to extract from the request's URL an entirely seperate URL that's been embedded in it without using query string.

The solution I came up with was to hex-encode the entire target URL as if it were a directory, as follows:

http://localhost/687474703A...etc...732E6D7033/irrelevantFilename.txt

This fails for IIS7, whose ASP.NET implementation won't tolerate a URL path greater than 260 characters.My code controls how the request URL gets generated, and how it might embed the target URL in there, but it doesn't have any control over that target URL value (they're third-party URLs).How better could I embed this target URL in my request URL?

ADO.NET :: Query Dynamic Table In LINQ?

Jan 17, 2011

I have a table created on the fly. The table structure is dynamic.

This is the table structure generated by the end of year 2010

DealerCode, 201010, 201011, 201012

This is the table structure generated by the end of Jan 2011

DealerCode, 201011, 201012, 201101

What I need to do is selecting all data and then bind it into a gridview

To build a LINQ query, we need to drag the table into dbml file first. As we don't know how the table look like, can we add it in dynamically? Are there any other solutions?

Generate Dynamic LINQ Query In SharePoint

Nov 25, 2010

I have a page with filters and accordingly to what the user selects, it has to generate a query. I'm using this code:

[code]....

However Linq-To-Sharepoint doesn't convert most of this to CAML and the list I'm querying has more than 50000 items. It takes about 4-8 seconds to retrieve the items which is not acceptable.

I've been trying to generate a dynamic query but so far I haven't been able to get it to work.

With AND and OR operations to generate the query I could put all those conditions on code and increase performance.

Thing is, i want to create the query dynamically, i.e build it up in blocks, but i can't figure out how exactly to do it. I believe if i can somehow save one of the values that i retrieve in the beginning i can do it, but now i retrieve it twice (probably a bit slow as well? Unless the compiler fixes it before quering). Makes sense? Here is the LINQ:

Display Dynamic Data Displaying Without Using Query String?

Mar 24, 2010

I recently encountered a problem when our project is derived to client. We used a single web page called default.aspx and passed parameters as querystring to load different webpages [URL]? p=232&q=90&id=3). But the client need a meaningful url [URL]. If we create each page for the client data we get millions of web pages and it is hard to create. Now we need to display dynamic data without passing querystring and they should look like individual webpages insted of a single webpage.

Passing Dynamic Parameters To A Mysql Query From Page?

May 20, 2010

I've a requirement that I need to read an excel sheet programmatically using asp.net/C# and write the data obtained into a mysql table.The excel sheet contains something around 50 columns and 2000 records.I am able to read the data from the excel sheet and store it in a dataset.I am using the following code to write the data into mysql table.

for (int i = 1; i <= myDataSet1.Tables[0].Rows.Count - 1; i++)
{
MySqlCommand cmd = new MySqlCommand();
for (int j = 0; j <= myDataSet1.Tables[0].Columns.Count - 1; j++)
{
paramset[j] = myDataSet1.Tables[0].Rows[i][j].ToString();
cmd.Parameters.AddWithValue("val" + j, paramset[j]);
}
cmd.CommandText = "Insert into faqimport
cmd.Connection=con;
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text;
int x=cmd.ExecuteNonQuery;
}

When I try to run the above code I am getting 'Unknown column 'val0' in 'field list'' error.I understand that i am manually creating the parameters val0,val1,val2.....instead I am creating them dynamically using the integer 'j'.But I do not want to create around 50 parameters to insert data into the database table.

Also is there a way i can get the column datatypes from the excel sheet in order to create a new table in mysql with the columns in the excel sheet?
