Does it need to have mp4 player(or codec etc) installed on webserver?
I have also some wmv files on that server , and i am playing perfectly using silver light player, and media player object on my website.

For example, using the ASP.NET Audio control like :- , is pretty easy and straight-forward and works accordingly. But, the trouble comes when I'm using a database and the control. I am totally new to data binding in ASP.NET. I don't like using JavaScript, but i am comfortable using it, but I would prefer C# solution (I know beggars can't be choosers).
I have a database containing only one table called tblAudio. This table has two fields only for the title of the audio file (type NVARCHAR(MAX)) and the field for the actual audio (type VAR BINARY(MAX)). I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Professional with SQL Server Express Edition. The table has a single record with the relevant data in their fields.

Should I create public variables on the code behind page for each of the DTO properties and reference like <%=PublicPropertyName%> OR is it ok to set the DTO instance to public and reference the properties directly like <%=dtoInstance.propertyName%>
Additionally, would it be better if I just created Literal and Label controls for every item on the ASPX page and just populate them from the code behind only?

Nov 3, 2010Using ASP.NET 2.0, VB code behind, I am using a ModalPopupExtender to show some dynamic content on my site inside an update panel. The problem I am having is that sometimes the content stretches the modal pop-up panel (div) so that it flows off the screen. In cases where the height of the popup panel exceeds some defined height I would like to limit the height and add a vertical scroll bar (otherwise the panel should have no height minimum).
I have written a JavaScript to perform this task (see below). I use my code behind to display the modal popup... so now my problem is how (when) do I kick-off my javascript to limit the height of my modal popup. Kicking off the script on pageLoaded finds that the popup container's display setting has not been set yet, therefore ConstrainPanelHeight is never executed... how can I kick off my javascript after the model popup is shown?

May 28, 2010I have a DataList that has a column with a checkbox in it. The checkbox has its AutoPostBack property set to true. During the DataList's OnItemDataBound event, I am registering a javascript method to the control:
chk2.Attributes.Add("onclick", "CheckAdvanceChecked(this);"); The purpose of this method is to determine if any of the programmatically checkboxes in the DataList are checked, and if so, disable some of the other controls on the page. My problem is that when the HTML is generated, my 'CheckAdvanceChecked' function is being placed (and executed) prior to the javascript that ASP automatically adds to the checkbox (due to its AutoPostBack property): <input id="checkAdvanceList_ctl01_chk" type="checkbox" name="checkAdvanceList$ctl01$chk" onclick="CheckAdvanceChecked(this);

Aug 7, 2010I'm not sure if this is an easy issue to solve, but I can't seem to figure it out. I have a ModalPopupExtender (obviously) for a panel that contains a two labels, two textboxes, and two buttons (Ok and Cancel). What I would like to do is when the Ok button is clicked, the page post back and the server click event execute (along with normal page events). When I try adding "__doPostBack("ModalOk", "");" as the OnOkScript, the page posts back, but the click event doesn't execute. (the click event is Protected Sub ModalOk_Click(blah blah) Handles ModalOk.Click).
The only way I got it to work (which is fine with me, I just thought I'd ask why it isn't working normally) is by checking to see if the Request.Form("__EVENTTARGET") is equal to "ModalOk". If it is, then I call the ModalOk_Click() sub. Like I said, this is fine with me, but it should be able to be avoided. If the __EVENTTARGET is equal to "ModalOk", then the "Handles ModalOk.Click" event should automatically be called, shouldn't it? Following with the general problem here, how does the server determine which events (other than the page events) to execute (or at least which button.click event)? I understand that the __EVENTTARGET supplies what causes the postback, but if a button is clicked then __EVENTTARGET is not set. So then does the page check the Request.Form for a button? Or is it more complex/simple than what I'm asking?

Jul 29, 2010Modal Popup user control (its a message box) on top of a modal popup with javascript that maintains postback on a scrollable div all inside of an update panel causes my page to flash on postback of the user control. If any one of the peices (user control, modal popup, javascript) are missing everything works fine. The javascript is maintaing scrollback on a scrollable listview on the page. A modalpopup is shown on top of this main page that is for report parameters. The user control is used for validation and is displayed if a parameter is invalid. I know this may not be the best design, but it can't really change unless its a minor change. Heres the js if anyone wants to see popup or styles let me know.

Mar 29, 2011I'm trying to add Embeded flash in aspx page running on iis 7.5 windows server 2008. When i'm adding the Embeded code src=/mylocation/test.swf it works fine. But when I'm adding fileserver location src="file:\c: est.swf the page doesn't load.
The code works fine in normal html file on my desktop.
